Think Big Rock is a good e/w bet at 10s for the QEII… stiff heavy ground mile is what he wants and with doubts over the participation of some of his opposition, reckon he’ll be hard to get past… could be a good day for the French!

They might as well pay out on City of Troy for the guineas already, blimey.

If you like him probably an idea to back him with PP. They may pay out early.

Don't know if Point Lonsdale is an intended runner in the Champion Stakes but I've gone through their form and he looks the only one who will appreciate a swamp. Every time he's encountered soft or Heavy ground he's won easily. If there are just 5/6 runners he may run into a place.

It's the wrong year :courage: but... I was looking at him again despite recently saying he was overrated. I read that they'd planned to ride him differently though, I assume not from the front. And wasn't completely convinced that'd suit or is often that successful with horses that get used to front running. So I didn't bother having the bet.

Probably wins now :welcoming:

I would be concerned if they ride him differently Benjy as I think it’s his gallop that gets others out of their comfort zone… on balance tho I think he’s worth another go… he hasn’t had his ground in his last 3 starts and still only found one too good… two of which are arguably the best in their division… on heavy I feel he’s lengths better

“He always shows a lot of cardio and he can exhaust a lot of horses during the race with his pace, but the thing with going in front like he does is that there’s always a horse behind you who might beat you with a kick in the end. That’s what’s happened in his three Group 1s, and so we’ll talk with the owner and you might see something different. With the season he’s had we’ve been working him accordingly since his last run.”

That's the quote I read from Christopher Head. If you were interested.

Thanks Benjy that’s interesting…. hopefully they’ll revert to plan A once they see the make up of the race

Christopher Head obviously read your quote MS :stupid:

He drove them into the ground!

Does he need to move stables for him to Run in the Race or has the ban on Baffet been lifted?

If the owners decided to get on the Derby trail they would have to transfer him to another barn to win/earn any Derby points.

An extra risk I guess.

Do you think that's been factored into the price?

No I don't Ronnie. Fierceness, Locked & Muth have all raced and won in G1 races whereas Nysos has more to prove and has only won a 6F maiden, albeit impressive.

What does everyone think about doing a monthly flat yankee like MoM does for Cheltenham? In recent years I've done one for the 1000/2000 Guineas and the Kentucky Oaks/Derby as they fall on the same weekend, would stimulate conversation and opinions if nothing else. Could also look at a Royal Ascot Yankee and Breeders Cup Yankee too into next year. Pretty sure we had the 1000 and KD winner put up on the 2023 thread at big prices this year so could end up being profitable and a bit of fun.
Markets very limited until the new year with regards to the Kentucky races but no harm in getting the 2 year olds in a couple before seeing what else comes out in Jan/Feb.

I'm not opposed to one member having the final say on selections each month or it could go to a vote if that would work?

Interested to hear people's thoughts/ideas about this. :eagerness:

I think that’s a great idea MP. For it to work tho I do think that we need a new thread and one member having the final say… as it’s your idea, would you be happy to do it?

1000 Guineas - One Look
KY Derby - Nysos/Heartland

Yeah I'd be happy to kick this one off and rotate any future ones around, I know you're a big breeders cup fan so maybe you could take charge of that one when the time comes. I'll start a thread for it later today and get the ball rolling :smug:
