2023 Browns Advisory Novices Chase (formerly RSA)

Insane decision by HDB to send Amirite here.
Off 142 he would have gone very close in the Kim Muir but surely can't finish ahead of Gerri Colombe and co, the only thing I can think of is that they couldn't secure a decent pilot...

Or they are protecting his mark for the Irish national

I guess they all have different approaches but for me if you're desperate to protect a horses mark you leave him in his box.
Or, if he needs a run, give him a racecourse gallop, or throw him in a local hurdle race.
Sending him over for a race he can't win just seems naive and I have a huge liking for HDB so hate being critical.
I just can't see him being competitive in this, but hope I'm wrong...

Maybe they believe they already have the winner :biggrin-new:

if the ground dries out a little I actually think he will run well in this and if it is still soft I think they will pull him….Thursday is looking like it might be worst day groundwise and I suspect this was very much on their mind as they have stated he will be a better horse in better ground.

….’Win Today & BANC’ roll-overs;

It’s a shame the devils coachman isn’t in this, Ruby saying the ground will be fairly dead and hard work, I think he’d of had a real chance.

Gainford will learn a sore lesson from that. Gordy's spite with Davy cost him one.

Gutted TRW won a BANC. Pretty sure the best horse didn't win that race and Davy gets him up.

Irish media have it as a moral Irish winner as both the owner and trainer are Limerick born and bred.

It does highlight the difficulties for small trainers in Ireland in trying to make it work. Patrick Neville was going at it a fair few years here. When he won on New Year's Day I thought he was still Irish based.

Hope it really launches him. Certainly deserves it.

I thought so too, but wasn't sure if was my pockets first reaction. Gutted as would have been a big win for me. I think he made a slight mistake a few out which might have made a difference too, another stride though and he would have caught him! So frustrating!

:welcoming: Lovely bit of pocket talk. Bit much to be gutted for a horse to win a BANC like.

Not many are showing their faces.

Na, I'm gutted. My pocket has nothing to do with another 50 yards and GC gets up!

Yeah, really don’t see begrudging a win for the horse.
Fully deserved it.
Great for a smaller outfit as well.
