He's beaten a load of likely lowly rated Boodles runner today. He was entitled to win like that, IMO.

If he were to end up in the Boodles he could be interesting but probably unlikely now as his rating will be high enough after that, oh and Willie has the 'dark horse' sitting at the head of the betting.

At 50/1 you should have re-backed him.

No-one is going to disagree he's a form boost for the ones at the top of the market, but the price was just wrong.

Absolutely. KS unbeaten in 5. Juveniles that do that and go to the Triumph win.

A lot can improve for the circumstances of the triumph and way race gets run etc

I think connections of Teddy Blue will be relishing a fast paced race after watching that today.
No idea if he’s good enough to figure but I do think the original call at 55 was a good one, now I’ve seen that, and thinking how the Triumph is likely to be run

Should add, was 50 original call, but boosted to 55

I'm not bothered I didn't, if I'm being honest.

He's held by at least three (Vauban, Fil Dor & Il EtaitTemps), from his last run, that's not taking into account Pied Piper and potentially Knight Salute as well.
 
Icare Allen definitely heading to Cheltenham, but no confirmation on target:

"He did it well, he jumped better. He just was a lot better than he was at Christmas.

"We'll roll on - we haven't decided where we are going to go. He'll go across the water, he's in the Boodles and he is in the Triumph but we haven't made up our minds yet."

If you hadn't cashed him, would have you watched that race and considered him a bad bet at 50/1? Really?

For me, that takes the 5th a bit too literally.... and even so, you're happy with Vadaly who he beat in the same race, when she's 40/1 and he's just thrashed her?

That opinion ignores that he may improve, he's with Willie, he's just won on the bridle against handicappers (which means he's surely at least better than a handicapper) ..... he only got beat 9L as well, not like he was absolutely destroyed?

He's got a place chance... ?


For me, it's confirmation bias on your part that you made the right decision cashing him out.... in my opinion, I don't think you did... as you could have just cashed for profit...and you love profit :victorious:

A very firm No !

The horse that finished 2nd to PP at Cheltenham finished a lot further behind KS in the Adonis and KS was giving him weight. The PP form and that of Vauban taken a hit today without a doubt.

Bit of a stretch to say Vauban's form has taken a hit though PP and onto Iceo?

Icare Allen has just franked the form of Vauban.

I backed Vadaly before the run at Leopardstown and now expecting her not to run in the race so money back. She's not an option to cash out (otherwise I would have), as she is with SkyBet, I'm hoping she doesn't turn up now. I'm not happy with her as a bet, but my hands are tied with regards to her.

Rubaud, Pleasant Man, & Petit Tonnerre I'm also expecting money back for, all are NRNB and I can't currently cash them.

I've cashed The Famous Five today.

That leaves the list you quoted a whole lot smaller, 3 of which have the beating of Icare Allen on the one run they've met and the other (Pied Piper) on a form line through Pied Piper/Vauban. The anomaly in the list being Doctor P, but he's not been beat yet, and although unlikely, IMO, to put it up to the top Irish lot, I'm willing keep onside.

Maybe I'm taking it too literally, but he was still up at 50's after the race and I didn't take it. I'm happy with the form lines I've covered on this occasion.

Indeed. However, even giving Pied Piper an additional 10 lengths for winning it as easy as he did , the form guys have Knight Salute ahead based on today's race. 9/4 compared to 14/1.......ummmmmm. perhaps KS is a fantastic EW bet based on that ??

Think he always has been a good EW bet to be fair, although maybe one for the day with extra places. Haven't watched his race today yet mind, but clearly a talented horse, with course form. Can't see him being any worse than 2nd best of the English bunch (Porticello, I'd have KS myself).

Agree that the Pied Piper form is falling apart a bit, but wouldn't stretch it any further than that. They're juveniles, all improving at different rates, hard to make any strong opinions on form lines, let alone through 2/3 different races.

Maybe we should have just listened to Gordon when he said that Fil Dor is the better horse :highly_amused:
