2022 Ryanair Chase

Asterion Forlonge is one I'd love to see in the King George. the race looks made for him.

If I was CPS I'd now be more confident that A Plus Tard could really give it to Minella Indo this year, leaving their horse Envoi Allen to go for a Ryanair this year, with a potential up in distance as that horse get older. Makes me more confident now this will be the plan. The performance of APT last Saturday surely bolsters that? De Bromhead seems more keener when he refers to EA more of a pacey sort as well. Pocket talking and I'll top up on EA for the Ryanair.

Where he would face the most impressive winner of 2021 and Cheveley Park owned Allaho.
CPS haven't shied away from throwing multiple darts at a prize, for me, I think they'd rather have two shots at a Gold Cup than a Ryanair.
For what it's worth I have always thought Allaho could win a Gold Cup so if they wanted to they could have three genuine shots, but that won't happen...

Kind of pointless getting into all the Envoi Gold Cup talk until he goes atleast 3 miles (if he does at all this season) - until then he's not in the Gold Cup picture so there is no decisions to make re Cheltenham.

Envoi only in the John Durkan and not the Hilly way over 2m

Very much sounds like Envoi is set for the John Durkan. Would we expect Allaho to go that way as well or will Cheveley Park prefer them to be split up?

9/2 into 7/4 for the john durkhan with PP.

I don't think Allaho will go against him FWIW :/

A fantasy lineup of Allaho vs Envoi vs Energumene for this. What's the prices for each and who'd you be backing on the day?

It does increasingly feel like EA comes here doesn't it? Another article i've seen today where Henry mentions his pace.

I think it’s hard to second guess HDB when HDB himself is probably using the Autumn and Winter to ease the horse back in after serious injury and subsequent operation, also worth remembering that he only got the horse in March, he is probably still learning all the time.
Envoi never got out of second gear on his reappearance over 20f and now tackles a similar distance again, it’s an easy assumption to make that he’ll head for the Ryanair given its’ distance but he’s off the back of an injury and I think HDB will tread carefully with the horse and not put him under any more pressure than necessary until decisions are needed, at a guess that’s February.
His Gold Cup price has continued to crash too…

Id think they will both run

Allaho will only be there for a jog around, usually needs the run

I expect envoi to win and go short for this

Hopefully the bookies overreact to allaho

If Allaho comes here then more likely Envoi goes Queen Mother or vice versa imo.

In that recent De Bromhead interview he said EA will get his chance over 3 miles ‘soon’. If we can take him at his word I would would expect soon to mean before the Festival. I’ve no doubt with the other ammo he has for the GC he would much prefer to aim the horse at the Ryanair, but If the horse gets his chance and does the business over 3 miles then I’d be confident he’ll be going down the GC route with Henry having a legitimate chance of training the first 3 home which would be some feat. I’d still have it odds against EA rocks up in the GC at this stage but still a realistic chance if he gets that opportunity over 3 miles before the Festival

I’d be very surprised if any of the Cheveley horses drop to 2m. The trainers will run them in the race they have the most change of winning, for Allaho and Envoi Allen it is certainly not the Champion Chase imo. Allaho could compete at 2m I agree but with the top horses it’s not his optimum trip, same applies to Envoi Allen imo.

I think people are taking HDB’s words out of context when he’s saying ‘pace’ regarding Envoi Allen. Imo it won’t be with a view to the champion chase, it will likely be between the Ryanair and Gold Cup. As Ballybeen states below, if I was Cheveley, I’d rather have 2 chances at the big one than the Ryanair if all goes to plan in the run up to March.

Just the 7 for Mullins in the John Durkan..

Big test for Envoi this, he's had the beneficiary of a run to blow the cob webs away unlike the majority of these so anything bar a win would be disappointing.
