Any excuse for me to back asterion. Minella indo finished 4th in an irish gold cup then went on to win a gold cup. Well what do you know, asterion finished 4th this season, that's good enough for me! All in the fallonge again! :lemo:

I think the horse has a big win in him somewhere along the line.

Cushion over the face at each fence is my advice.
Got talent though.

My Annual Losing Selection

I think this is my 11th season without picking out the Gold Cup winner (I count in century's now), and yet to make it onto Gault Stats!! :boxing:

I've fancied Galvin all season for this, but I'm concerned he will find this level at bit too much. A Plus Tards first run hitting an RPR of 180, I just cant ignore that. Ran a 168 LTO, which suggest he ran a little under par, and was just beaten off by Galvin. I know the trend is against "beaten Gold Cup" horses, but I feel his age and also the breaks he has had inbetween races gives me confidence that last years Gold Cup didnt leave a mark on him.

Protektorat is interesting, a 'Long Run' like campaign, but unlike Long Run this fella hasnt jumped a fence at the Fez, and he goes up against proper 170+ horses
I like him for next years King George.

Minella Indo, I think he'll run well. Surely, at some point, all these races will start taking effect - Ran in the AB, RSA, Gold Cup, numerous 3mile chases and hasnt had the clearest campaigned. Cant rule out, but cant be confident and had him as my main selection

Its been a poor week, I have good positions on a few of these with live antepost bets (mainly on Galvin and Protektorat) which means I've managed to hedge my main bets - Galvin, Protektorat and A Plus Tard will return decent profit. So I can sit back and just enjoy the race

However, I sit want to pick out the winner of this. Sorry in advance :cower::boxing:

Boyles have Henry to train winner 9/4. APT 5/2 best price so bit of value if want the current chanpion aswell!

Absolutely brilliant performance.

Hats off :applause:

Another great ride by Blackmore. Is she going to be the "greatest jockey"? De Bromhead stable out of form!

Last thing Minella Indo wants that far out is be out in front, but Mr Power wasn't going to let that stop him!

Great stuff from Rachael and APT, well deserved.

A Plus Tard Cheltenham form 1-3-2-1
Minella Indi Cheltenham form 1-2-1-2

That is ridiculous and some training from HDB.

It keeps racing on the front page. The PC media will lap it up. Cheers Rachael.

A plus tard wouldve definitely won anyway the way he flew up the hill and clearly wasn't himself when getting beaten by galvin who got found out today

But yeah Robbie power got a bit giddy there didn't he

Yeah I thought he’s went to the front far too early! I just wonder if Protektorat hadn’t been so wide would he have been closer? Wouldn’t have won but came there looking really good but was 5 wide turning in after the third last.

He's still a bit keen through his races old Protektorat isn't he. But agreed he wasn't exactly in prime position at any point. Quite impressed he outbattled Galvin for third to be honest. If he gets over that alright then he's probably a cert for Aintree!

He's only a 7-y-o - hopefully better to come, He did well despite some iffy jumping - ditto Royale Pagaille on firmer ground than he likes. But there are others coming (Stattler, L'Homme Presse, Galopin des Champs, Ahoy Senor - maybe Bravemansgame if he ever runs)

Aye he was, then he jumped through the last too then battled well. No chance with the winner but a very very good run imo.

Could still be more to come. A Plus Tard has just shown if you’re good enough you can come back and win.
