2022 Champion Hurdle

Exactly Saxon. I'm hoping at some point to see Echoes, Concertista and Shewearsitwell up against eachother in Ireland to battle for Mullins top Mare spot.

Can't have Concertista at all for this race.
Not one piece of form suggests she could compete successfully in a Champion hurdle.
And Willie's not daft.

Her Punchestown festival run doesn’t look good at all on paper being beaten 10 lengths by Stormy Ireland who wouldn’t get anywhere near in a champion hurdle. And being beaten by Minella Melody

In her 3 Cheltenham festival races she's finished in front of 5 Festival winners. Of the horses staying Hurdling, Paddy Power make her joint 3rd fav.

She's no chance.
Wouldn't surprise me if Willie tried her over a fence.

If he did that then he would be daft ! :tan:

Why would that be daft? Seems a very sensible option to me. Didn’t win the Mares Hurdle, won’t win a Champion Hurdle, so what is there to lose by trying her over a fence?

Just don't see where she fits in with Mullins other 35 Novice Chasers.

I’m going to be banging the French Aseel EW @ 50/1 drum for a while in this thread.

Well…. Until the 50/1 is all gobbled up anyway :afro:

he could be brilliant!!

Used a free bet on Tellmesomethingirl @ 50/1. God forbid something happens to Honeysuckle but little doubt in my mind she'd be super sub if it did. Mostly a cover bet for my mares hurdle position which is biggish.

For some reason I have TMSG for the stayers hurdle…going back a few months this..not sure on what basis either..lol

Probably the one at the prices that is worth backing as he could be anything, Honeysuckle looks bombproof if all goes to plan and as a fan of the sport I’d love to see her retain the race.

Will the honey bubble burst this season? I still think her best trip is further but because of the pretty crap opposition she can get away with it.
Really want a proper 2miler on the up to come and stick it to her.
I'm feeling kind of the same as Epatante last season, she's rightly favourite but I wanna see her tested.
Would love to see a fit and experienced Ferny take her on.. I won't be backing at those odds and I'm happy to stay away from the race as it stands.stands. I know I'm in the minority here so tin hat on. :lemo:

Absolutely would love to see something emerge as a legitimate contender to rival her. Honeysuckle looks rock solid in the market right now but a lot of others (including myself) were of the view that Epatante was too at this stage last year. Nicky Henderson had a pretty underwhelming festival by his standards and if Epatante is back to her best could at least give Honeysuckle something to think about although I'm not sure of that. I'd imagine it'll be another mare, maybe one of Willie Mullins, that'll be the one to do so if at all. Definitely don't want Ferny Hollow too as I have some nice Arkle prices on my tickets :glee:

I’m convinced there are three horses in training who could de-throne her, Bob Olinger, Envoi Allen and Appreciate It, none of whom will take up a Champion Hurdle option….

I know the season hasn't started yet, but it's hard to see who is coming to do it

Honeysuckles biggest threat, and the only thing that’s stopped me backing her thus-far, would be her falling out of form. If she can put in a performance same as last year, there’s nothing in training over hurdles that will best her, however, and I really, really hope this doesn’t happen as I love the horse, but it wouldn’t be unheard of for a top level mare to just down tools and start going backward for apparently no reason, and after 2 seasons mixing it at the top level in open company I must admit I get a bit wary
