Something I always try and keep an eye on before the festival but once i'm there and the whirlwind begins it's hard for me to keep on top of any related collateral form lines as they unfold.

Kev just highlighted Klassical Dream > Dancing On My Own in the Coral thread.

Good to get a separate thread of highlighted examples and specifically ones that may crop up as the week unfolds.

A few to start...

Klassical Dream - Day One - Supreme (5/1)

twice beat

Dancing on my Own - Day Two - Coral Cup (33/1)
(same applies to Vision D'Honneur)

------------------------------------------------------------

City Island - Day Two - Ballymore (9/1)

beat

Dallas des Picton - Day Four - Martin Pipe (5/1)

------------------------------------------------------------

Fakir D'oudairies - Day One - Supreme (11/2)

Beat both

Fine Brunello - Day Two - Fred Winter (10/1)
Adjali - Day Four - Triumph (14/1)

------------------------------------------------------------

Highway One o One - Day One - Close Brothers (20/1)

beat

Spiritofthegames - Day Three - Plate (10/1)

both beaten by

Kildisart - Day Three - JLT (8/1)

------------------------------------------------------------

Lake View Lad - Day One - Ultima (22/1)

twice beat

Captain Chaos - Day Three - Kim Muir (20/1)

Excellent idea. I've backed all of them already bar Fakir in some form or another, and to be fair I have done Fakir with Sir Erec which isn't the same but it's still related IMO.

Anyone spotted any others?

Hardline beat Riders on the Storm

I'm a complete newb with most of this so apologies for what's probably a stupid question.. but what are collateral or related formlines. I can't see a connection between the horses being mentioned and googling hasn't answered. Thanks.

Its a way to compare the results of horses that haven't directly run against each other by using the results of horses that overlap.

For example Klassical Dream beat Dancing on My Own - if Klassical Dream wins the Supreme then his collateral form will give a boost the chances to Dancing on My Own, however if he was to finish well down the field, then the knock on effect would be negative against Dancing on my own.

And thus the results will criss cross around various form lines, on different ground, on different tracks, in different conditions, it takes a very experienced punter to accurately read these forms lines and come up with the solutions. Something well beyond me, but some of the posters on here create excellent arguments based on Collateral Form.

28/04/2018 - Auteuil:

Pic d'Orhy - Triumph

beat

Ciel De Neige - Fred Winter

by 8.5L (CDN finishing 4/8)

Good Man Pat (Close Bros) ---> finished a decent 3rd behind Bags Groove at Kempton where ---> Castafiore (JLT) was a good second having previously beaten ---> Jerrysback (NH Chase) who was also beaten on his next start by ---> Vinndication (JLT)

Dallas Des Pictons - Albert Bartlett or Martin Pipe

beat Cuneo - Pertemps Final, Cuneo beat Walk To Freedom + Thermistocles in the qualifier, all still entered I think.

Cheers mate. Kinda makes sense to me.

Although my question would be 'how is it a good indicator'. For example you could say Mo Farah beat me at a marathon.. but whether Mo does well in his next race doesn't give you a clearer picture of my value?

Edit: nevermind, did some googling and figured it out!

It would depend how close you got to Mo Farah :p

If you got close to Mo Farah over 10l, then raced against me over 10k... and we were both odds of 5/6 - I'd back you with every penny I could get my hands on...

Fairly interesting... as all 4 are engaged this week...

11th Dec at Uttoxeter

How about (based on the Grde 3) 9th Dec at Cork

Sam's Profile - Ballymore
Derrinross - Albert Bartlett

A win for Sam's Profile today and Derrinross could be fav for the Albert Bartlett!

I like them as an each way double.

Dancing on my own today then?
