2017 Ryanair Chase

Surely he runs here after his Lexus run?

Wouldn't be so sure of that. Looked to have definitely improved for the longer trip every other time and he wouldn't be a standout in the Ryanair really? He'd have a good chance sure, but he looked better over further and Mullins' always said he was a stayer?

Valseur Lido is a strange one, his JLT performance in Vautour's JLT suggested he needed further as he was left trailing when Douvan found one of his extra gears, he certainly improved for the step up at Punchestown a couple of years ago when beating (a below par) Don Poli and Irish Cavalier amongst others so going for the Ryanair last year was a puzzling decision.
Maybe he was just below par over Christmas, it happens, but I don't see his future being at the intermediate trip, could be wrong....

I agree Ista.
Was travelling best when he came down at the last in the Irish Gold Cup last year and whilst it didn't have the depth of THE Gold Cup, he also won comfortably over 3m at Down Royal this season.

I think/hope that we can put a line through his Lexus performance, as I think that 3m+ would normally see him at his best.

Ultimately, I think he lacks the quality to win the Gold Cup (but that didn't stop me having a nibble at 14's after Down Royal!)

Leman - I was at a preview evening before his Supreme, 2014 maybe ?
They got talking about the Supreme and as his pilot Davy Russell said VL would win a Gold Cup one day, said he's never sat on a horse that gave him such a feel, he was all class and stamina.
Of course that didn't stop me backing VL in the Supreme when he finished mid division but I've followed the horse since, sending the horse back in trip doesn't sound like a smart move to me....

Any chance the Tizzard talking horse ALARY will turn up for this ?
He is quoted in most books at around 20/1
Might be a little short of his optimum trip but surely it is here or nothing for the festival
Stable certainly not afraid to pitch one in at the deep end
However,if he is one for the future then the Gold cup is surely not an option for this year
Stable already heavily tooled up for gold cup as we know

Saying that - his two wins have been over 22f, so 21f at Chelt COULD be OK...

Staggered that GLV hasn't been given an entry..
Even if they are ultimately going CC - you would think that they would at least have a Ryanair entry.
There goes another AP bet.... :sorrow:

I'm not a fan of GLV but amazed he hasn't got an entry - could he have picked up an injury lto?

Possibly an injury, as you say FM.
I'm only disappointed, as I have a dabble at 33's at the beginning of the season.
Was strong in the betting for the JLT and it looked a relatively obvious target.. Lol!

They didn't mention an injury. They have mentioned the CH and CC at different times this season but only to say he isn't good enough for either. I am shocked he hasn't got an entry. I backed him and thought he was a lively outsider at 33/1! Scrub a point off my 'live' and into the 'dead' section haha

All the horses I've bet on keep getting injured :grumpy:

Happens every year about now - work gets stepped up and some just break down.

It is like ante post bet slip bingo ... but in reverse? Every day for the next 8 weeks is nervy!

16/1 nrnb Zabana.
A decent performance in the Lexus.

I think he's heading to the Gold Cup but you can him in both races NRNB now at 16s and 40s, wouldn't put anyone off that.
Of course I'm on Zabana for Gold Cup without the NRNB insurance..........at 40s !
