2017 RSA Chase

Barters Hill destination looks like it could go right up until the wire and be ground dependant? (JLT if soft - RSA if good)? I'd be (and am) tempted by the any race odds now.

I did go in again at 12's on ADO as I feel it was an over reaction, the stable form that jono has highlighted I'll happily believe vindicates my thoughts... (could be a case of finding what you want to see) but I think 12s could look silly after his next run
 
Do you know where they are planning to run ADO next?
 
Expecting (more than hoping) to see an improvement on last time. To be out this quickly it can only be 'match fitness'? That 12's will be gone by the weekend...

"That was satisfactory. He idled a bit in front but his jumping was perfect. I'm not sure where he'll go next, although I'd like to find a winners of one. He wants two and a half miles plus," said Morris in the aftermath.

Much better performance from ADO yesterday. Disappointed Prince of Scars was withdrawn (albeit the good ground always looked a concern for him in this race) as that would have been a really intriguing clash, POS looks like he could make a smashing chaser and Elliott has talked him up as one to follow. But back to ADO - won as expected and jumped better too i thought. I think there's still more to come from him in both fitness and ability.

All in all job well done really. Be good to get a proper test next time up which sounds like Morris is keen on. Best price 10's now which for is about right. Wouldn't surprise me if that gets bigger come Christmas time though. I think we may see him lose again this season, especially when the ground gets really testing. But like has been mentioned by many on here then be in prime condition come March.
 
Looked decent to me but agree might be a Bump or two in the road to rsa
 
I have ADO covered for the RSA. I also like aux ptit soins but I do honestly think it's a coin flip between here and the jewson.. And that's if he stays fit and healthy.. But I just can't get away from how much Paul nicholls loves him
 
Interesting that STD picked Saphir Du Rheu over him for the World Hurdle cwright? - Incidently STD has now lost the ride on SDR so interesting to see what he says about APS throughout the season... seemed the wrong choice to me at the time as SDR looked exposed in the WH. Don't suppose it'll make much difference to anything, but i'll be wary of any auto-praise from STD?

I think ADO will be a bit forgotten and then end up getting tipped up in the run up with the 'Mouse-factor' and '2nd to THistlecrack' being the main reasons.... as mayo said, likely some bumps and disappointments along the way... IF he drifts to anything like 16s at any point I think I am gonna wallop it and hope the tipsters take the 'easy' path and use (what may well prove and hopefully do prove) to be excellent thoughts...
 
Aux Ptit Soins looked very green over fences there! Maybe will be better in larger fields but will need to brush up his skills.

What are everyone's thoughts?
 
Probably will come on an absolute bundle for the run, Nicholls said he was late back in and had a fair amount to work on in his interview a few weeks back, most notable comment Nicholls said though was that the run in the world hurdle left its mark on him, alpha des obeaux is a prime example for not taking first runs to seriously, he has an average at best chase debut now 2 runs later he's all the hype again for this race, APS needs time

Would be foolish to rule him out of anything... Might be more Old Guard than ADO though :devilish:
 
Only just watched the Aux Ptits Soins race. No doubt he'll come on massively but I have to say he looked all over the place yesterday. He looked big and fitness wise and he'll improve buckets. I think he will but the jumping will need to improve a lot for me, early days though for sure.

Also worth noting that Drumlee Sunset has always been quite highly thought of. The odds suggested he was a sure thing but I think the winner may look quite decent in a few months time so may not be so bad looking back.

I think sometimes it's easy to forgot that not all horses will have 1's aside their name. It doesn't seem the case here but you go on twitter and any horses who has been talked up and loses is shot down straight away. Think a lot of people expect a flawless unbeaten record for horses nowadays!

I’m not disappointed,” said Paul Nicholls, his trainer, who felt the horse had proved to be badly in need of the run, just his second in the space of 18 months. Aux Ptits Soins was sidelined for most of last winter by significant problems with his teeth and sinuses.
“He’ll improve tonnes and tonnes,”

Nicholls added. “He wants to get back racing, get lighter, get fitter. He came back to me later than most of mine, didn’t start cantering until September ... If you’re going novice chasing, you’ve got to get some experience. I can do as much as I like at home with him but he needs a few runs. He’s just got tired.”

Even so, the trainer warned: “There’s no telling, after all the problems he’s had, that he’ll be as good as he was. He had three lots of major surgery last year and he had big problems. But he is going to get fitter and fitter and fitter.

I know he's met problems over the last 2 seasons but didn't realise it was three lots of major surgery. Hopefully it hasn't blunted his talent.

Also just watched ADO run from the weekend - slowly improving with each run and good to see him turn things around with Westerner Lady. Looks like Mouse Morris is doing an almost identical path as First Lieutenant's novice chase season. FL had an opener in Tipperaray, another in Cork and then a couple of runs in December.

I still think the race is waiting for a standout performance to head the market. Though he could possibly be a JLT horse hopefully Barters Hills is impressive tomorrow at Cheltenham and can set the standard

Love the horse, just like jono said though he was all over the place.

Fingers crossed he sharpens up!

In regards to ADO, if getting anything like the hurdle form then he will be very hard to catch in the spring. He looked at home setting the fractions. I think Ruby misjudged the time to strike on Westerner Lady, went far too late.

Did anybody else like the look of Disko 1st time out. Looks a stayer to me??
 
Also Barters Hill runs tomorrow (cant wait!!!) , currently 20s for this and the JLT at the minute.

Stayer all day in my eyes.

Anybody else gone in on the each way @ 20s??
 
I think a few of us on here took the 14/1 for him to win any race. It appeared the safer option at the time but 20/1 for the JLT still appeals to me.
 
I think the trip tomorrow is a little short but the 2/1 is very very tempting, yard going well 4 from 6 in last week....

Gutted about Barters Hill today, but relieved he is ok afterwards - feared the worst when the screens went up.

Can't see him racing again this season. They'll be no debating what trip he'll be going for next year though by the sounds of it (Ben Pauling afterwards)

He'll return racing but he'll definitely want three miles not two and a half as they lose a bit of speed
