2017 National Hunt Chase

Edwulf quickly back out tomorrow - wonder if he can complete this time!! :very_drunk: Geraghty booked but taken to hospital today so wonder if another jockey comes in. If he still has this race in mind then wonder if O'Connor may come back in or Jamie Codd and Katie Walsh who are already riding at the course in bumper in the last (or Mark Walsh switches from A Great View)

Happy with that performance from Edwulf, just hope he heads here and not one of the other entries he has. One of the few left standing I've potentially got at a biggish price

Top class performance form Edwulf there. Jumped really well once he got into a rhythm.

Only 2m4f today mind you. Hope this race is still the plan.

That's my worry too Hardy. He's not short of pace is he.

I'd be very confident it would be the plan. Robbie Power gave him a lovely ride there. The 4 miles will be of help to him as he can be ridden tentatively, given time and eased into the race. A shorter trip and quicker pace would be too risky imo

Lovely performance from Edwulf. I'd imagine the 4 miler would be the plan after that.

He looks a huge horse

With the race being named after JT McNamara i'm sure JP would love to win the race too. Only one other entry in the race.

Another thing to note - as i mentioned on page 1, the top rated in the race have a very good record and at 145 before todays race, that impressive performance could easily see him be top rated now at quick glance

Good point Jono. That performance rules out the Kim Muir too. So it's RSA or 4 miler.

I suppose it depends what price you think is value for a horse who is a risky conveyance. He came down last week for no obvious reason, other than possibly going too slowly, and Cheltenham is going to provide an even stiffer test of his jumping over a trip that is too a certain extent guesswork.

Wouldn't touch him at current prices Kb. But having backed him at 20/1 I think that looks good value now.

A nice bet CCM. JP has had the last two winners of the race and he has a live chance of making it a hat-trick

Do you think Degsy will still ride FM? Thought they might have been tempted to let him have another go today.

I'm fairly sure that's who they'll be after CCM. I'm hoping that Champers On Ice turns up here but if Codd and O'Conner are already booked it may tempt them to go down the handicap route.

Sure they would be happy with Katie Walsh? She's ridden for Pipe a few times before?

So it's looking like:

Codd - Genie in a Bottle
O'Connor - Edwulf
Mullins - Martello Tower / Haymount / Arbre de Vie

Which would leave Katie Walsh up for grabs. She has a nice record with the Pipes and I wouldn't complain at all if she's onboard COI.

Willie Mullins has his stable tour tomorrow doesn't he? Hopefully find out a bit more then on his likely runner (he's more open in races like this compared to the novice races/championship races)

Henderson confirmed Premier Bond will be ridden by Huge Hunt if he runs in this race, or I presume whoever his runner is in this:

He’s also in the Kim Muir as well as the 4 miler and we haven’t decided which he will run in yet but wherever he goes, our stable amateur Hugo Hunt will ride him.

She's the only other one that springs to mind but COI doesn't look straightforward and Jamie Codd has rode him before so I wonder if they might pursue him for the ride in the Kim Muir.

Jono. Not holding out much hope we will glean anything from Willie's stable tour!

Lots of he may do this, and could do that I reckon!

Haha i'm sure you're right. :highly_amused: I'm holding out hope that this is one of the only races he might let on
