JP has bought Buveur D'air. Could he be staying over hurdles too?

JLT ?

Henderson also has a couple of exciting two-mile novice chasers for the months ahead in Altior, the runaway Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner, and Buveur D’Air, who was third in that contest before winning in Grade One company at Aintree.

“A lot of things can happen but as things stand both are going novice chasing,” Henderson said. “They’ve schooled over fences, worked yesterday morning and look great. They just need couple of bits of work, hopefully on grass, and then off we go.

“Altior is blessed with so much speed and is a two-miler, full stop. I’m sure he would get two and a half miles - much like Sprinter Sacre would - but what on earth would be the point?

“He’s got a long way to go [to become another Sprinter Sacre] but you can always hope.

“If anything steps up half a mile, it will be Buveur D’Air, but he’s a long way from being one-paced.”

You can back Yanworth for any race at 7s (general 8s for WH) but there is some 20 with PP for the CH....

If you can't beat Irving, you aren't going to place in a Champion Hurdle.

Sceau Royal and Apples Jade - no hopers.

I was surprised to see Apples Jade here to be honest after her last run, got to be the mares now after that or how about the world hurdle

Irving is some serious animal when at his best, remember he beat Arctic Fire a couple of years ago in this race. Did anyone watching the race thought that Sceau Royal actually gave his running? I don't think so. Too many races got to him eventually. AJ did well yesterday following the disappointing run just after she changed yards.

The thing with the champion hurdle is surely there has to be loads of value half way down the betting as a lot of the top horses in the market won't be going here.. I thought sceau Royal may of been the one, what was the ground like yesterday? I'm a little shocked nobody has mentioned the other giggi runner petit mouchoir as it was coppers 1st choice on the day so must of been working well before hand.. Travelled well and jumped will in the main before a mistake at the second last.. At 33/1 is the champion hurdle the target?

That Fighting Fifth just confused me, not sure what to make of the form...

The way I am going to view it, is that Irving ran to his best form - as well as he did when he won it previously. (156 yesterday, 157 when he won previously) .... there is no reason to think this wasn't a target for him, and it is perfectly reasonable to think he has run to a very similar mark to last time he won it...

Sceau Royal, Petit Mouchoir and unfortunately, Apples Jade, have all had runs going in to this, and although they may well improve... they will need to because at the moment, they're 155 or less.

The only horses rated in the 150's to place in the Champion Hurdle in the last 5 years have been Arctic Fire 2nd (157) and Countrywide Flame 3rd (158)

With allowances Apples Jade, at the 33s she is, with her improved Spring form, is the only one that would interest me, however, I backed her at 10s as a 'saver' when she first moved to Elliott so thats soured the soup. :highly_amused:

I also backed apples Jade as my saver in the CH at 8/1, I'm confused as to why she was even in the race yesterday, especially as Elliot said she'd be going up in trip next, but we've only had one season with her, she may just be a spring horse, we already know plenty of them that just come alive at that time of year... I think she has to be a CH horse as gigginstown maybe not to fussed with the mares race and no other contenders really in the race, I thought after she got her rhythm together after getting outpaced a bit yesterday she started to quicken well, Paul Nicholls said for Irving this is like his gold cup, he was aimed for the race and going there fresh as that's when he runs best, I see apples Jade placing in the CH and 33/1 now on offer as a steal, as you say between her and Annie at the top at 3/1, how many of those are actually running there....

Much as I hate 5yo in the champion the 33s is a nice price.
I just can't get that Aintree performance out of my mind, reminded me of Master Minded's first Queen Mother....

Mullins today has said he still hasn't made a decision on who will go for the Hattons Grace.... and specifically mentioned Yorkhill is ready to go but no decision has been made yet about hurdles or fences.

Reading between the lines, if Annie or Faugheen don't make it for the Hattons Grace, Yorkhill is going to be stepping in?

Elliott said today she would be aimed at the mares race

Ouch. Bit of a dent in the Kevloaf book with that. Backed for the other 2 races .... won't back her for the mares race .... can't see Mullins not aiming a good one at it. VVM hopefully (from a punting perspective only ... I want her over fences really)

Was this on ATR? Any idea what time it was? Will try and catch it..

Racing UK it was Rowe

Joining these dots is not proving to be straight forward, but i suspect youve pretty much nailed it kev. If this is the case then the uming and arghing of recent weeks/months suggests that the two stable stars may of not pleasing for a while now?

Willies just kicking into gear now, I suspect both horses are fine and will both be at the fez, but quite possible at their old targets of CH and mares hurdle, VVM then goes Ryan air.... one can only assume that yorkhill is still schooling over fences and if need be dropped in again over hurdles then they will

"Yorkhill is ready to come out but we haven't decided yet whether he will go over fences or stay hurdling," the trainer added.

Should 'know' on Thursday at the latest?
