Its the NEW ONE year. Finally!!! The lad deserves it. ha

Was geniunely about to post "bet the New One doesn't still doesn't place" haha

VVM, really? I don't think she's good enough to even place in this race, never mind win it.

What does Elliot have in this race? I rather take 20/1 nrnb for AJ.

With my very hopefuly hat on (don't want Yorkhill to end up here)...

VVM has been declared the super-sub and they definitely said "she will run where Faugheen and Annie don't" or "fit in where they don't".... now I know it is foolish to take any Mullins words too literally, but in that scenario, Ruby would still ride for Ricci, on a Grade 1 winner over 2m. Wylie would still have Nichols Canyon in as a live outsider based and Yorkhill can stay over fences on his way to becoming a Gold Cup horse.

Clutching at straws? I don't see Yorkhill as a good thing by any stretch, but have got some good prices on him so this news isn't personally crippling. (Damange was done by Annie Power for me) but VVM would have as good a chance as anything surely?

It would be a big call to run Yorkhill in here at this late stage. As you say Kev, he's no penalty kick to win it even if he did run.

I'd say he is highly likely to run though.

Not got another fit horse good enough to win this bar him unless they decide Douvan is going to do the Champion Hurdle and Chase double back to back days.:devilish:

I think as well, as it is now "an open year"... it seems like the Mullins' other runners are being dismissed?

Faugheen (Annie Power) we're a cut above the rest (it is generally considered).... Nichols Canyon and VVM are not, but you can't catergorically say they aren't good enough, especially with it being "such an open year".

I'm just so disappointed that the highlight on the Tuesday is lacking a superstar.

I unfortunately agree with both of those statements.

As much as i would like him to stick with the JLT, i think its plain obvious hes going here.

Mullins' comments after the Neptune last year seem to suggest he knew what was coming with Annie and Faugheen all along...

“He could go novice chasing but I think the way for him is down the Champion Hurdle route,” said winning trainer Willie Mullins.

“This fellow looks smart and sharp the way he came round the home bend here."

“Ruby said he would win next year's Arkle with his mouth open. But when you see the way my Champion Hurdle horses fell like flies this year – Faugheen and Arctic Fire, I would like to have another super-sub like Annie Power.

I have snapped up Skybet Cheltenham special - 7/4 Yorkhill to run in the Champion Hurdle. Looks great value, Evens JLT, 3/1 Arkle, 33/1 Any other. Bet void if he doesn't run at all.

Paddy are 9/2 he starts as CH fav. Surely if he does switch he will be fav? Seems value compared to the price just to run.

Yeah i'd be amazed if he wasn't fav on the day CCM IF he gets supplemented. Seems a BIG price.

The JLT looks the easier race to me- does Willie value the Champion more than that race though?

The Champion Hurdle is no gimme at all, even though he beat Yanworth well last year.

Personally I'd have liked to see him race Altior in an Arkle but cannot see that happening!

Not really a horse I like but My tent or yours each way at 25s nrnb is tempting me for this now
Likes Cheltenham and good ground
Good second last year to a horse that broke the track record and he had no prep run
Trainer has great record in race and has won it before with the outsider of three

Was looking at this last night and for the life of me can not see why MTOY is not shorter than 50/1 or 25/1 NRNB. Four runs at Cheltenham have resulted in four 2nd places, 3 in grade 1 contests and 1 in a grade 2, horses hes finished behind on these occasions were Champagne Fever (as a novice hurdler), Jezki, Annie Power & The New One. He seems to go well fresh, so the break since Christmas will have done him no harm at all and feel he has been overlooked based purely on connections other runners.

That Champion Hurdle run last year was something else and I feel there is every chance he can replicate that this year, I have excuses for every run so far this year, his seasonal debut was on heavy, he's only ran one other time on heavy and lost that race too, his defeat by The New One was odd, but he had the defeat of the same horse off levels in this race last year and Good ground would see him reverse that at this particular track I feel and I also believe the race on boxing Day came too quickly for a horse of his age and he'll get closer to Yanworth come the festival.

I have surprised myself for making a claim for this horse as I very much look into the stats and trends and a horse aged 10 would be a huge no generally, but this is a weaker Champion Hurdle than in previous years and not many horses, if any, have recorded two 2nd places from 2 runs in this race.

I think every trainer would value a champion hurdle far more than aJLT - there is no comparison. Plus the owner would be getting around 5 times more prize money.

How much is the supplement fee?
