2017 Arkle Trophy Chase

Just wondered if I am missing something, but Royal Caviar, a general 20/1 shot for the race is the 3/1 favourite (not including Yorkhill) in the without Altior market, doesn't seem to add up, as quite a few others are generally shorter than him in the normal market?

Charbel was top of the without market, but Kim Bailey tweets today suggest they're considering the JLT again so as it's a NRNB market it's drifted. Looks very close in the w/o market all about 4s.

 Come on Kim...run him in the Arkle!

Identity Thief strikes me as the most talented horse behind Altior but obviously no confidence as a bet without due to his last couple of falls.

I was on Sizing John each way... he had Vaniteux's number...

*runs for cover* :highly_amused:

Identity Thief a non runner today, suffered a setback this morning. Not ruled out of Cheltenham but surely they'll now bypass it even if he recovered in time?

You'd think so, he has had no luck at all since about November!

Small bet on ball darc without Altior - gigginstown will want a runner ?

Attribution is the other possibility 25s ?

Ball D'Arc is fast over his fences. Hopefully will get a run for my money.

40s without, now 25s without... (16s with PP).

Well done

*** Michael O'Leary has just said on ATR that Identity Theif won't go and Ball D'arc isn't good enough to go over.

Listening to O'Leary now - not a grade1 horse.

Trying to keep him under the 140 for handicap :( I'd say

Not entered but in the Grand Annual and the Plate so Id say Ive done my dough.

Patrick Mullins was almost saying that Royal Caviar would be ridden for a place, given that Altior is untouchable, so 20/1 seems a steal. Alternatively, he is 7/2 to place on the exchanges. A lot of other horses in the race seem to have questions over whether they run or not, obviously don't expect Yorkhill to turn up, Charbel was very much on course for this, but recent weeks have seen questions regarding target, including being entered in a hurdles race, Top Notch looks JLT bound and is priced accordingly and some how Some Plan is shorter than Royal Caviar despite looking beat before RC came down LTO.

This is where the value currently lies for me and have backed accordingly.

Can't pick holes in that CoD.

I made a post on Page 41 and missed RC ("keeps falling") but OV pointed it out and I backed Royal Cavier NRNB at 20 (or 25) afterwards with the theory NRNB he'd go off shorter.

No reason to be put off at all at this stage.
