Speaking to the sponsors, Mullins said: "She looks great and I may start her off in the Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse at the end of November. All being well we'll then aim her at the OLBG mares' race at the Festival.":sorrow:

So, so disappointing, the World hurdle could be won by another handicapper whilst class horses like AP have an exercise canter winning the mares race........................assuming she avoids taking off 10 yards early.....
 
So disappointed as well, to come out so early and say that is her target is a let down, however you can't set that in stone because we all know willie and he could change his mind 2 weeks before the festival, I really do believe it is a weak looking field so far, I'm hoping he has just said this to cover his bases and not commit her to the world before he's seen her run this season and can aim her at the world, you would have to think he'd start the season training for the world hurdle and if it doesn't work out he can drop her back to the OLBG after, for now tho it looks as if whisper is the ante post bet unless nicholls does wonders with Aux Ptits Sons
 
The new one was highly under impressive today, i never really rates the horse that highly, i believe the year he came close in the champion would never of happened if it wasn't for those tragic circumstances, outside of the festival he only runs against weak opposition and when it comes to Cheltenham surprise surprise hecomes up short certainly doesn't come into the reckoning for the champion again and for that matter the world hurdle either, I understand he's the star in twiston-davies yard but think he is one of the most over hyped about horses, i only see regression for the horse, certainly no improvement
 
Whisper becomes a runner once again, Henderson confirming the horse will spend another year over timber....
 
Looking at what's in the betting currently and the likely targets of some of the others in the market, I don't think Cole Harden and Martello Tower are bad ew bets, at least, barring injuries to themselves, they are 99.99% being targeted at this race

Bizarrely both a bit under the radar ....not trained by W P Mullins, Nicholls or Henderson ?
 
Aux Ptits Soins, winner of the Coral Cup last season, has the World Hurdle as his aim and won’t be running until the spring, says Nicholls
 
"The idea with Whisper was to go novice chasing last season. He would not have got halfway round here today this time last year. I don't know where he went. There were no physical defects, he was just awful," said Henderson,

"He had the one run in a novice chase at Exeter and finished behind one of Paul's (Nicholls) and it would not have been one of his stars (Ceasar Milan).

"We gave him a run in the World Hurdle and that put him spot on for Aintree and he was really good again.

"At the end of the season I sat down with Dai Walters and as we went down the chasing route with Oscar Whisky and he had a fatal fall in the Tingle Creek, he was not for doing that route again, not when we've got a good chance of winning the World Hurdle.

"Whisper was much of the strongest of the three today. I'm delighted with him and that will make him ready for next weekend."
 
Former Champion Hurdle winner Rock on Ruby has been retired after suffering a tendon injury following his win at Ascot on Saturday!
 
Before any race started this season i must admit i had a bet on Nichols Canyon for the world hurdle. He the only one that seems to be staying fit for him at the minute. Also running well aswell.
 
Decent trial at Newbury tomorrow with Cole Harden, Whisper and Thistlecrack all lining up. I like Thistlecrack as a possible improver but think he is a poor enough price gainst the other two tomorrow. Ruby was full of praise for Cole Harden in his blog earlier in the week.
 
Saphir Du Rheu switching back to hurdles so suddenly the renewal has some quality.
Thistlecrack and SDR match could be a race worth watching, with Cole Harden and Whisper disappointing last weekend the challengers were hardly advertising their crudentials.
Looking forward to Aux Ptits Soins return to the track....
 
What's the latest with APS? Is he OK, as i'd heard a rumor that he'd had a training set back.

I really like Thistlecrack and have backed him accordingly. It might not be such a poor renewal after all.
 
Aux Ptits Soins out until spring

Novice chasing was an option for Aux Ptits Soins, but the World Hurdle, for which he is 10-1 with the sponsor, will be his main aim, providing he can overcome some issues.

“He won’t be ready until the spring,” Nicholls added. “He had an infection in a tooth and had to have the tooth out, and now he’s got an infection in a sinus. The idea is to get all that cleared up and he’ll come back to me in the first week of January to be aimed at the World Hurdle.”


The horse wasn't due to run until Christmas anyway so this probably isn't the massive setback it sounds.
PN managed to win at the festival with the horse last year without a prep run so I wouldn't be too concerned....
 
Also worth adding that the horse has been between 10s and 12s best price for the race since the high st priced up, and he is now still 10s best price so his delayed return has not hit confidence....
 
I wonder whether Baradari is a possible runner for this ?
Hacked up in the fixed brush hurdle at Haydock and entered in the Long Walk hurdle in a couple of weeks where he is expected to meet Saphir Du Rheu, Thistlecrack, Deputy Dan and Thousand Stars, that will be a big test for Dan Skeltons 5yo but they clearly think the horse has abilities beyond what he's previously shown on the course so the 33s on offer right now could be value, but as with most festival races you deserve a payout for guessing which race they turn up for....

I agree OV, but I prefer horses with a delayed re-appearance to a horse who gets injured mid season and attempts to come back.
Nicholls managed to get the horse home without a prep last year and I remember PN saying at a few preview evenings that he would have preferred to have got a run into APS but he still got him fit enough to win one of the most competitive handicaps in the calendar, of course that handicap mark helped !!!

Thistlecrack is looking the real deal and had it not been for Saphir Du Rheu declaring his participation Thistlecrack would be a clear fav for me....
 
Whether he was a real candidate or not is not important but horrific news that Dan Skeltons Baradari suffered a fatal schooling fall yesterday.
Horrific and another talented horse who was denied fulfilling all of his considerable potential....
