Sceau royal one to keep onside. Lovely jumper

“Sceau Royal must be one of the fastest jumpers I’ve ever ridden and he didn’t put a foot wrong when winning the Chatteris Fen Juvenile Hurdle last Friday,” said Jacob, speaking in the Monday Jury in the Racing Post.

“He’s getting more and more professional in his races and he’s the best British horse in the Triumph picture at the moment. There’s a long way to go but I’m very excited by him.”

I would also be taking a piece of the 33/1 on Leoncavallo(even with JF's bad record around the track). He is closely matched with SC and looked the stronger stayer whe getting up in October. He was also going well enough around Cheltenham last month before unseating at the last.

Will he definetley run in this race?

Leoncavallo had the best piece of juvenile form last Summer when winning under a double penalty at M Rasen then following up at Wetherby beating Sceau Royal and that one has won 3 on the spin and is rated 144 (and will rise after his win last Friday) he is the highest rated juvenile, when the pair re-opposed at Cheltenham they were locked together when Leoncavallo unshipped Aiden Coleman so it makes no sense that Leoncavallo should be 33s.
That said, not sure there have been many Triumph winners who spent the previous Summer racing at Stratford, Newton Abbot and Market Rasen......

I agree Ista, thats why I would be willing to take a gamble on his last run. He seemed to handle the track ok but I would like to see another run in him before the big race.

He's worth a punt but I would be concerned that he's had 13 runs in 14 months and the longest rest he's had is 10 weeks last May/June, some horses thrive with racing and can't sit in a box for long, perhaps Leoncavallo is one of them, but I'd like to hear someone connected say it....

Yes, that is a concern. The same concern I have over Wicklow Brave this year.

Munir with another nice set of juveniles. Had 1-2 last year and 2 in 2014,

Fixe le Cap

Henderson said: 'He's a hard horse to weigh up, especially if you see what we see at home. He wouldn't give any indication, he comes out each morning and wants to play around. He's full of life but his work is mysteriously boring.

'Daryl rode him on Saturday with two quite nice horses but he couldn't, or didn't want to, go with them. He's got a lovely attitude to life.

'His life is very much in front of him, he jumps beautifully and loves this sort of ground so we may as well plough on and have a look at him in a better race.'

Assessing options before the Festival, Henderson told Racing UK: 'The obvious one is the Victor Ludorum at Haydock, I don't see Kempton being his track, Haydock is sharp as well but the ground will be slower there.

'We were half-thinking we might get a mark for the Fred Winter (juvenile handicap hurdle at the Festival), but I think we've kissed goodbye to that.

'I don't think we'd run him on fast ground but good ground would be OK, we just need to see him in a race with a bit of pace.'

Love to know who the two horses he worked with were ,,

Is this the next Segal one ?

Lets Dance looks the obvious one for him.

P & C won as fav last year but I don't think it's very common

Detroit City did the same but that was a few years ago, there have also been a few rags win this....

Fate of the Favourite 1 0 2 2 4 4 3 6 4 1

Never a fully formed market at this time of year though. No idea who first 3 in market will be apart from IG.

and from mayos thread

Only 5 from the last 28 Triumph Hurdle favourites have won (Last 4 to do so Peace & Co 2015, Detroit City '06, Katarino '99, Mysilv '94 at 2/1).

Favourite out tomorrow

This market could be shaken up today, interesting that Willie is keen to take IG on again but the interesting one could be Jers Girl, 9/1 for this and 20's + for the Triumph, so decent ew for today's race but would collapse for the fez if she won I would think

Well, I thought it could shake up the market, don't think there was a triumph winner in that field, managed to pick the wrong one though:heart-borken:

Tbh, the whole result looked a bit suspect to me. What did the tricast pay?

It was a strangely run race and i think if it was run again the placings would be completely different, let's dance and jers girl went a good clip from the front and I thought it was interesting that after let's dance was dropped to 3rd up the run in she rallied back and should have got second almost as if she got a second wind after being forward throughout, would the Cheltenham hill give her more chance to rally on again, or would different tactis be better suited to her, ivanovich gorbatov never traveled and never looked like going anywhere, combined with poor hurdling and a a poor passage lead to a dreadful run and gerraghty was far from hard on him, i think he could easily do better next time if getting into a rhythm, footpad sat out the back and started to pick them off from the halfway point but going into the last turn I thought he was treading water, either way the market has opened right back up so time to get laying a few at the prices!!

I think Alan King is happiest man with all that ...
