2016 Mares Hurdle

Oh I have missed the Willie Mullins games! On the same day Patrick says the mares is on the cards, she is entered at Punchestown.

Must surely still be heavily odds on to run in the mares rather than against Thistlecrack?

My pocket wants Annie to run in the Mares but I'd love to see her run against Thistlecrack in the world hurdle, after all it should be the best horses taking each other on wherever possible, I think Thistlecrack would win, I'd love to see Vautour take on UDS too, it would be great to watch and settle a few debates, its all down to Mullins now to make the decisions.

Jesus, the 2.05 today was a really poor race. I can't see any of them making an impact in this race.

I haven't actually punted annie power yet but she is definitely one of my intentional punts, especially the 1st day mullins 4 timer, currently best odds of 8.5 with betfair, I really cant see her taking on thistlecrack, ricci himself is an admirer of the horse, if he wasn't in the line up then you would be looking at a near penalty kick for the world hurdle with annie as there is no other standout contenders, but I think she is resigned to the mares and I hope she does run here and gets her 1st Cheltenham win on the board, polly peachum definitely has to be the lay bet here though at 12/1 currently, close 2nd last year and always carries that same strong level of form that is just short of top class mares, nailed on for 2nd again IMO

Also Gitane du berlais could fill the places at 16/1 for willie however she's never ran at Cheltenham before and never ran on anything better than soft so question marks to answer, otherwise a pretty solid mare

Annie drifted out to 8/11 for the Mare's on PaddyPower.

I actually think that Thistlecrack will beat her or VVM in the World Hurdle. Surely it's Annie Mare's, VVM Ryanair.

completely agree, would be the most logical choice

Strong... End of the day it's the owners and trainers decision, and we are a gamble, when ante post we gamble on the race, and then the opposition within the race, if it was that easy it wouldnt be a gamble, and wouldn't feel as good when we get it right!!

Ruby seemed to be glowing yesterday on ATR at the thought of riding her again. Although he only knew of the entry next week by reading the paper..

"I'm happy enough with Annie Power & it looks like she will run @punchestownrace on Wednesday" @WillieMullinsNH

They'll prob run her Wednesday, and then run in the mares anyway.

I think they will TR, they desperatly want a win with her at the fest for Mrs Ricci as she is her favourite horse and is more of a pet to her than the others. I think they are just taking the freshness off her after last year, also do we think she is good enough to beat Thistlecrack? I believe the place money in the world Hur is better than the win money in the Mares, but surely they have to go theMares for that win?

I've got her in a few accas, so obviously hope that's the case.

If Min/Douvan/Faugheen win, and Annie isn't running. I think the lad I'm on holiday with will be looking to jump off the cliffs that our villa is situated at the top of :highly_amused:

Wonder if knowing that Thistlecrack is going chasing next year will factor into their decision?

They say you shouldn't be scared of one horse, but you'd certainly not be silly to avoid one, when the horse hasn't seen a racecourse in almost a year.

Keeps things interesting, anyway :)

I think and i'm hoping you are right and they are just taking the freshness out of her and still run her in the mares, reports from the stables even say they worked her in a hood to even try and keep a lid on her freshness she had been bouncing so much on her work so hopefully it's a good thing, wonder how it will effect her odds going forward though as i still haven't backed her for the mares yet because i'm just not confident where she'll run

They are concerned by her freshness which some put down as the reason for the fall last year. I'm hanging onto that at the moment as all signs point towards a tilt at the WH (which would wave bye bye to my acca)..

She's key to plenty of my Multiples too. She couldn't beat MOT with a perfect prep so I'm not sure she can beat Thristlecrack with the season she has had.

WPM loves to keep us guessing but I'm filling up on her at odds against on the exchanges.

I've placed a couple of £5 multiples switching VVM into the Mare's slot as insurance, but for the WH, I've backed Thistlecrack.

Not playing a funny bugger here, but could Ricci's new role at BetBright give him the chance to protect that new brand from a day 1 bloodbath?

To his credit, he did tell us the chance after VVM's last run.

Forget how much the prize money is in both races Paz, can you imagine how much the bookies would pay for them not to run AP in the mares?
