Towering
This my first ever blog. So please bear with me all new to this, see how it goes. 2016 will be an interesting and exciting, for being a small syndicate racehorse ownership. But very enjoying the journey, giving me and wonderful times during the years. At the moment I’m with three horses, with MiddlehamParkRacing. The horses are TOWERING 7yr old gelding National Hunt horse, with Nicky Henderson. Vision Of Beauty 3yr old filly trained by Richard Hannon. Dandy Man 2yr old filly not named yet with trainer Richard Fahey.

Last year Towering took me to the Headquarters of jump racing, (Cheltenham) which was an honour to be there it self. In the race that he won was an absolute fantastic dream and achievement all rolled into one. With so many runner in a very competitive handicap race. We was only expecting to come in the top eight, which was going to be an achievement itself. Which was the Showcase meeting in October my favourite month. But when he but another fantastic effort, in another competitive race at the Paddy Power Meeting in November. We all thought he was going to do it, again coming round the home bend. But he could only finish a fantastic 5th place in the race. But there was another very good horse, in that beat him fair and square finishing well up the hill and impressive Uknowwhatimeanharry. Since then he has run twice and won, both very impressive indeed. But that boosted the form of Towering from his race in November, which is great to see. Now 2016 is upon us it will be a bonus, if he runs at the Cheltenham festival or any big meetings this year. He’s been a joy to be a part, of his journey and seeing him improving. Looking forward to his next step which will be jumping over fences. One firm has put him in the Coral Cup which is 2mile 5 furlongs betting market at 40/1 nice little each-way bet. That’s if he run in there. Here’s hoping.

Hi dazzler.

He is rated 122 and lowest to get in last year was 138.

Rating range last year was 138-158.

Might get into the Martin Pipe of something in the low 130s but probably need to win first. Probably worth backing on next run:encouragement:

2016 Coral Cup

Donn

Foxcub

Foxcub did well to go as close as he did in the Pertemps Qualifier at Sandown on Saturday, given that he raced up with a fast pace from early. He only went down by a neck in the end to Simply A Legend in a driving finish, he actually looked the most likely winner 150 yards from the winning line, but he lost very little in defeat, he battled all the way to the line, and he was only just beaten by a progressive rival.

Always travelling well for James Davies just behind the front rank, the Bahri gelding came under pressure at the top of the home straight. He moved up nicely on the far side on the run to the second last flight, and he stayed on well from there. He hit the front just after the final flight and looked a likely winner as they started off up the run-in before he was just overhauled by Alan King’s horse.

This was a race in which it was an advantage to be held up. The three other horses who, with Foxcub, filled the first four places were all held up. Tom Symonds’ horse was the only one of the four who raced prominently, and the front four were clear. He is not especially unexposed, he is not lightly-raced, but he was racing off a career-high mark of 141 here, 7lb higher than the mark off which he won on his previous run at Bangor, and he put up a career-best performance. So a 3lb hike is not harsh. This two miles and five and a half furlongs may have stretched him, especially in a strongly-run race, and it may be that he will do better back at two and a half miles. He will be of interest wherever he goes next, ideally dropped down a little in trip.

Thomas Hobson ? Jumped better in the main today but still room for improvement

Thomas Hobson doesn't strike me as the type of horse for a Coral Cup, neither do i think willie would enter him as I don't think he could handle Cheltenham and the atmosphere around him, however if mullins were to win this race i think he could do so with sempre medici, i know he has been touted as yet another runner for the champion hurdle to pick up some prize money behind Faugheen, but sure willie won't have 4 runners in the race with arctic fire and nichols canyon as well, current odds for the coral cup with sempre medici are 20/1 with Bet365 and the non runner no bet, if he did turn up for the race he'd be a lot shorter than that in the market

I'm hoping WPM chooses to run Renneti in this as I feel the step up in trip is exactly what he needs. Also interested in Diamond King, who the handicapper with probably rate too high to enable him to run in the Martin Pipe race.

I will be backing Renneti in whichever race he enters. :)

P. Nicholls gives politologue a mention for this race 14-1?

Same connections won it last year with Aux Ptit Soins so think that's factored into the price - sure they'll target the race again but doesn't look fantastic value !

No entries for Windsor Park in the champion hurdle or world hurdle. Is it possible he goes here off a mark of 153?

3 options to my eyes

1) Injured?
2) Being held back for the Aintree middle distance race?
3) Longshot – Is it possible he goes to the Coral cup off a mark of 153?

Requested for Foxcub price on Bet 365, on there now @ 33/1

I am at least half expecing Hargam to end up in Champion when Nicky doesnt get MTOY back.

Elliott On Diamond King: "he's flying at home and we're looking forward to him. He'll go straight to the Coral Cup."

This is one of the few handicaps where lightly raced horses have fared very well over the years, it's something like 19 of the last 26 win and placed horses ran no more than 3 times in the same season prior to the festival, so that is a positive for Diamond King
Not sure why the conditions of this race would suit lightly raced horses when the County or Pertemps, which are equally frenetic handicaps for hurdlers, have seen frequently raced horses fare well....

I also quite like the look of Lil Rockerfella for this race aswell. Ran a few cracking prep races. Reckon this is the race they have in mind for this fella.
