2015 Triumph Hurdle

The ratings are interesting with Top Notch, who I'm sure won't run in this, being 11 lbs behind P & C on the OR's, it could be that this one is the good thing that we are all looking for but, because it's the Triumph hurdle and favs rarely win, we are over thinking the race, time will tell I suppose.

Just to clarify, when I say I don't think Top Notch will run in this I mean the race for which mayo posted the entries and not the Triumph, he may well run in that.

The following 20 horses have been scratched:
All set to go (ire), apsatou (fr), beatabout the bush (ire), box office (fr), bristol de mai (fr), buiseness sivola (fr), chartbreaker (fr), chatez (ire), chatham house rule , fiscal focus (ire), guantoshol (ire), lac leman (ger), saint lucy , san benedeto (fr), seamour

WPM

Kalkir: He’s set for the Triumph. He put in a very good performance last time and I think he’ll improve for that.

Can I have your opinions on both AK's Pain Au Chocolat or Karezak?

I am looking for some e/w value and one of these should run well.

I am not being rude but from my experience you might as well stick a pin it. Detroit the last favourite to win ?

I hate this race.

That was not my question Moscow. I think PC is beatable, thats why I am looking for value elsewhere. PAC @20/1 would pay more than a PC win.

I am not saying I am going to back that horse, but if any members here have good vibes or a valid reason he will run well I will give him a shot. This is gambling at the end of the day where you have to be in it to win it!

Hi Moscow - you arent usually so tetchy :)

Davy Russell used to be the same about it - didnt seem to mind last year though. You just need to find the winner.

Katie Walsh says Petite P the best of Willies.

If you didnt get early value on Peace and Co like 20 or 12's whatever he was. No point even betting on him. Favs have a shocking record.

LR I saw Pain au Chocolat when he won his last race at Sandown. Did it nicely and was a good winner going away at the end but the ground was terrible regardless of what the official going of that race says, was very very soft! He looks a lovely type, good size too so suggest he'll make a good chaser in time but all his wins so far are on soft! If you can find anything about him that suggests he'll improve for good ground then he may be a live outsider.

Karezak is definitely consistent and arguably has the higher level of form but you could also argue he is very exposed compared to others for win purposes maybe unless good ground really brings him on! If I had to bet on one it would be PaC if you could find any quotes about him being suited by better ground or at least being versatile he has a chance

i am always a bit cautious about saying a man is good with juveniles but certainly true of Alan King.

Seems to always get one in the frame at Cheltenham or Aintree.

Skelton

Primogeniture was a decent staying handicapper on the Flat for John Oxx and was bought for 90,000 guineas to run in the colours of Frank Gillespie, who is lucky enough to own Irish Champion Stakes winner The Grey Gatsby among a handful of horses.

"He's a good horse, a strong stayer," said Skelton.

"On his last run, he actually ran in the same race at Fairyhouse as Zarib, who goes for the Fred WInter, but it would be asking a lot of him to come out and show the same sort of form first time out that Zarib has done already.

"There's no pressure on him to come out and show he is that good, but he is showing us that he's a nice horse."

Impressive stuff at Kempton from Beltor in the 2.0 pm race, only Cheltenham entry is this race, must be a player after that

Into 16/1 from 50/1 could well shorten a lot more

14L to Bivouac.

Peace & Co 14.5L to Bivouac at Cheltenham

Aintree a possibility too though.

I think the Aintree race is worth more.

Quotes

Formerly trained by Stephens' old boss Sir Mark Prescott on the Flat, he was a smooth winner on his debut over hurdles at Ludlow last month and followed up in style when dismissing All Yours and Bivouac.

"His work has always been very good," said Stephens, who trains a handful of horses from Penhow near Newport.

"His win at Ludlow was encouraging and he'd come on since - he's done that very nicely.

"It's massive for us in our second season training to come to meetings like this and win Grade 2s.

"It's realistic to dream about Cheltenham and the nice gallop there will help him settle."

Winning rider Tom O'Brien added: "I can't wait until they go faster for him. He's done that very easily and is a credit to Robert and his wife Rosie - brilliant.

"I think better ground will help him as they'll go faster and he'll be able to settle. He's earned a crack at the Triumph and I'm really looking forward to Cheltenham."
