2015 Weatherbys Champion Bumper

  • Thread starter Thread starter Morning Glory

Interesting to read Davy Russell on the Bumper from Swords. Buys and sells a few and knows his breeding:

Vigil is a good one.
Form strong but Wait For Me from Philip Hobbs is best of English. Was with P Fenton.
Pylonthepressure is by Darcy. No good.
Bordini by Martaline. Much better.

Often found first horse on these threads wins. Back to Bordini :)

There has been some movement today on OC for Moon Racer. Has anyone seen any quotes online to suggest the reason why?

Haha MrMcG knows!

I would assume its because Tycoon Prince won on Sunday but isn't going to the bumper and people have cottoned on to the fact moon racer beat Tycoon Prince by 11ish lengths back in April last year.

Yes and add in the fact he has Cheltenham form and on good ground, he looks a sensible bet for this race.

Wednesday, February 25, 2015 - The final pieces of The Festival jigsaw fall into place today with the unveiling of the entries for the Weatherbys Champion Bumper and the St James's Place Foxhunter Chase.
Taking place as the final race on Ladies Day, Wednesday, March, 11, the £60,000 Grade One Weatherbys Champion Bumper has attracted 46 entries, including 19 from Ireland.

Willie Mullins, who has won the race a record eight times, accounts for seven entries including the ante-post favourite Bordini, who has been massively impressive in winning both his starts this year. Other prominent entries from Ireland's champion Jump trainer include Pylonthepressure and Stone Hard.

Dermot Weld, successful last year with Silver Concorde, has a leading contender again this year with Vigil, who finished a close fifth to his stable companion last year and has won on his only start this season.

The pick of the British-trained contingent includes Moon Racer (David Pipe), a winner at Cheltenham in October, and Wait For Me (Philip Hobbs), who was very impressive when successful on debut as Ascot on February 14.

Barters Hill (Ben Pauling) has won all of his three starts to date, headlined by victory last time out in a Listed contest at Newbury on February 7.

Two Gigginstown entries, hopefully Cooper will be on board The General !! :)

Will be really interesting to see who Cooper chooses if both the G'town horses line up. I like both their chances but probably prefer Stone Hard

Hey Guys- Hope you're all healthy & wealthy.

One of my fancies for this race SUPASUNDAE is now with Henry de Bromhead-Sounds like he's a runner.

Henry de Bromhead is looking forward to running his new arrival Supasundae in the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival.

The County Waterford trainer reports the five-year-old to have settled in really well since being purchased by his main owners Ann and Alan Potts out of Andrew Balding's stable.

Supasundae had just one run for the Kingsclere handler, winning a bumper at Ascot in December having won his only other start at Wetherby last March when handled by Tim Fitzgerald.

"He's lovely and we're really delighted with him. We got him early in the new year," said De Bromhead.

"Hopefully he'll go for the bumper in Cheltenham. He'll go straight there now."

Supasundae is generally available at 12-1 for the Bumper on March 11.

Hi Donka...the wealthy will have to wait two and a bit weeks :very_drunk: Last years winnings have been spent. Sorted the field by RPR..your tip is right up there among the talking horses.

The dream continues for BayofFreedom for another while but might not make the cut now ?

I think Dueling Banjos (owned by the 21 Club owner) might have the same problem.

Old Vic - you're killing me! I have sworn off RPR because they drive me crazy with their abitrariness - thanks for making me look. In an effort to make myself feel better here's a list in Timeform order.(It's the number immediately before the trainers name) I am also impressed by the level of insight currently being shown by Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, Boylesports et al in pricing him up at 20/1. It's going to be tight but I have every trust in the acuity and logic of the handicapper (particularly if he looks at this form line: http://www.cheltenhamdream.com/new-page-4.)
It's going to be a stressful few days!

Bayofdream we are all rooting for you.

Fingers crossed.

Just noticed Denamescapesme in that list, I put up a post about him last week and have just checked to see if he's quoted. 40/1 with 365 nrnb, there's no way I'm letting this feller go unbacked, he could be pretty special

MG - I can't seem to find any info or stats about the horse, not even on RP. Do you have a link anywhere?

Hi LR, I put a piece on the juvenile and novice jumper thread after he ran at Clonmel last week, I don't know where you'll find anything other than that, I've just had a look on atr and nothing shows up, talk about under the radar, I'll defo be lumping on though because he looked awesome last week
