Who will make it in the Gold Cup now ?

Long Run a NR as well - goes straight to Aintree.

Each way on Last Instalment or First Lieutenant could be good shouts. Should really only be between the two gigginstown horses and the top two in the market. Bobs Worth at 7/4 looks awful tempting though....

I am almost certain Bobs Worth was a better price on the morning of the race than at anytime between that and the Hennessy last year. Bet365 are taking no chances with Boston Bob 16s when 33s with Victor and Paddys. Will keep an eye on decs for this weekend too Triolo 33s with Paddy's looks an ew option.

In light of what we now know about the dodginess going on in fentons yard , I don't believe Last Instalment should be allowed to run.

He's a 9yo who has improved a stone according to his last race result. I think i can smell fish.

He was some Novice so I wouldn't have been bothered by the improvement if there hadn't been steroids in the yard.

Why we're they there - that's the main question that need answering imo

Fair point OV.
I'm a bit sensitive to cheating especially after the BHA told the sheikh that he may carry on cheating with impunity as they will never ask questions,Arse kissers!.Sickens me to the pit of my stomach.

last instalment I would imagine

Yea thats how I have it too. The Giant Bolster and Harry Topper wont be too far off the pace either. If last Installment gets a soft lead he could just grind it out like Denman.

The steroids were found in January 2012, Last Instalment won the Moriarty in February 2012, he was tested after that race and came back clean. The reason he improved quite a bit in his last race was because he needed the race before as he was off the track for 2 years. He has always been an incredibly talented horse and i wouldn't be surprised if he won the gold cup.

Runs 11 1st 8 2nd 0 3rd 2

Experience has taught us that testing clean to a dope test proves very little.

A 9yo off the track for 2 years and improves a stone. He'll have to improve another stone to win the gold cup, And if he does, then there will be be questions asked.
Gigginstown should take a leaf out of barry connells book and follow the example he set with TTT.

These things clear the system in 48 hours so wouldn't convince me he has always been clean. There might be some plausible explanation as to why they were there but would have been nice to hear it but presume that is all for the court.

FWIW with forecast improving - see here http://hripressoffice.ie/podcasts/ will be no surprise to me if Giggy just go with First Lieutenant.

Happen your right OV. I'm only few miles away and the ground is drying pretty quickly, I'm always testing the ground when i take the dog out.

Keep us posted on going Donka.

Ruby on the gold cup

“He was travelling well,” Walsh recalled of Silviniaco Conti’s run last year. “Looking at the video you’d say he was going to win, I wasn’t so sure on his back. I was happy but I wasn’t exuding confidence. I still think Bobs Worth is the one they all have to beat. At Leopardstown at Christmas was the first time I thought Bobs Worth was a really good horse. I loved the way he quickened up from the last and I think he’s the one they’ll have to beat in the Gold Cup.”

Triolo D'Alene is set to take his chance in the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup, said trainer Nicky Henderson.

The Hennessy Gold Cup winner has a clutch of entries at the Cheltenham Festival, but a promising workout on Sunday morning convinced connections to go for the big one.

Henderson said: "He's very good. We were delighted with him. He worked really well. He's got to go somewhere, and it (the Gold Cup) looks a wide-open race this year."

Triolo D'Alene has not been seen since his accomplished defeat of Rocky Creek in the Hennessy at Newbury last November, having constantly been blighted by the wet weather.

He is also still in contention for the Crabbie's Grand National at Aintree in April.

Henderson now has an especially strong hand in the Gold Cup as he is responsible for last year's winner Bobs Worth.

Like Triolo D'Alene, the nine-year-old was put through his paces on the Mandown gallops on Sunday morning.

The Seven Barrows handler said: "He's in very good nick and was another who worked well. It was a good morning for us."
