More from the ^ Starsports night http://www.starsportsbet.co.uk/festival/

London on Wednesday 25 February.

On the panel:

DJ: DARYL JACOB (Jockey)
GC: GRAHAM CUNNINGHAM (Channel 4 Racing)
BE: BILL ESDAILE (City AM Racing Editor)
LT: LUKE TARR (Head of PR, Star Sports)

Tuesday 11 March
SUPREME NOVICES HURDLE

GC and DJ both keen on VAUTOUR
BE sweet on WILDE BLUE YONDER at a decent price

Panel agreed that IRVING is now plenty short enough.
ARKLE CHASE

LT and GC both supporters of TRIFOLIUM

The panel were collectively against ROCK ON RUBY

DJ keen on his ride DODGING BULLETS
CHAMPION HURDLE

Star Sports prices showed THE NEW ONE and HURRICANE FLY as 3/1 joint favs with MY TENT OR YOURS and OUR CONOR as the 9/2 joint second favs.

Both GC and LT both thought the betting was the wrong way round and the 9/2 joint second favs should in fact be the 3/1 joint favs !

Selections:

DJ HURRICANE FLY
GC OUR CONOR
LT MY TENT OR YOURS
BE HURRICANE FLY

GC was of the belief that ANNIE POWER would in fact run here in the Champion Hurdle to which LT added that she would be 9/2 not the current 7/1 if that was confirmed.

Wednesday 12 March
NEPTUNE NOVICES HURDLE

The panel were all agreed that this totally revolves around the front two in the market FAUGHEEN and RED SHERLOCK especially as there are likely to be several non runners behind them.

The panel were united behind the chances of FAUGHEEN.
RSA CHASE

BE was keen to remind everyone that he is on a 5 timer in this race !! MORNING ASSEMBLY is Bill’s chosen one this year.

All the panel though the current market leaders BALLYCASEY and SMAD PLACE were very short.

LT and GC nominated MANY CLOUDS as their best each way bets of the week.

DJ SAM WINNER a sound each way chance and ‘overpriced’ at 14/1
QUEEN MOTHER CHAMPION CHASE

The panel agreed that whilst SIRE DE GRUGY deserved to be favourite the current price is skinny. GC however was quite happy with 5/2 SIRE DE GRUGY as a bet.

All also agreed that ARVIKA LIGEONNIERE is not only the hardest horse name in training to spell correctly but also doesn’t go left handed and were sceptical as to whether the promised ‘special’ head gear will make a difference and thought it was a massive lay.
CROSS COUNTRY HANDICAP CHASE

DJ rides DIAMOND HARRY and thought it had an each way chance.

LT and GC both respected chances of favourite BIG SHU and if anything thought it should be shorter.
FRED WINTER HANDICAP HURDLE

It was thought that DAWALAN would go off a lot shorter than the current 10/1

Thursday 13 March
JLT NOVICE CHASE

DJ closely connected with WONDERFUL CHARM who he is keen on.

LT Thought OSCAR WHISKEY and TAQUIN DU SEUIL would be 1-2 again as they were earlier in the season.

GC a fan of WONDERFUL CHARM and also VUKOVAR who has been well backed with Star Sports.

BE FELIX YONGER

So, that’s the top of the market covered between the panel !! May the best man win.
RYANAIR CHASE

LT main bet of the week AL FEROF at 5/1. He’s convinced it won’t go off bigger than 3/1.

DJ aother AL FEROF supporter.

Only other one likely to be backed is GC selection DYNASTE

BE Keen on FIRST LIEUTENANT (with a run)
WORLD HURDLE

DJ obviously close to BIG BUCK’S and feels he has come on lot after his defeat in the Cleeve Hurdle. He rides CELESTIAL HALO who he considers very much has each way claims.

GC keen to be against BIG BUCK’S

BE One of his ‘bets of the week’ RULE THE WORLD

LT No idea !! But SALUBRIOUS ew at 20/1 offered up.

Friday 14 March
TRIUMPH HURDLE

The panel were all keen on CALIPTO

DJ Thinks LE ROCHER wants ground on the soft side

A strong vibe that ACTIVIAL will not run.
ALBERT BARTLETT NOVICE HURDLE

Similar shape to the Neptune. Front two solid with loads of non runners likely.

LT and BE are big KINGS PALACE fans

GC favouring BRIAR HILL
GOLD CUP

Majority opinion it’s between top two in market- the 2013 winner BOBS WORTH and SILVINIACO CONTI who fell 12 months ago when still travelling very well.

DJ in doubt – would pick SILVINIACO CONTI ‘every day of the week’ if he could pick a ride. He DOES ride ROCKY CREEK and he is convinced he has a real ew chance with the likely non runners.

GC BOBS WORTH

LT and BE FIRST LIEUTENANT NRNB interesting but conceded most likely winner is BOBS WORTH
COUNTY HANDICAP HURDLE

DJ rides LAC FONTANA who he puts in good word for.
FOXHUNTER CHASE

GC ON THE FRINGE
BETS OF THE WEEK
DARYL JACOB

NAP: AL FEROF
BEST EW: LAC FONTANA
GRAHAM CUNNINGHAM

NAP: TRIFOLIUM
BEST EW: MANY COLOURS
LUKE TARR

NAP: AL FEROF
BEST EW: MANY CLOUDS
BILL ESDAILE *

(* who clearly wants to sleep with Mouse Morris !)

NAP: RULE THE WORLD
BEST EW: FIRST LIEUTENANT

Another twitter report via @IrishStarSport from Cheltenham preview in aid of Pieta House at Carnegie Court, Swords, Co Dublin.

Panel
@_Davy_Russel_ Davy Russell DR
@BHDFlanagan Brian Flanagan BF
@mr_andy_mc Andy McNamara AMN
Mark Winstanley aka the couch MW
Andrew Lynch AL
@deniskirwan DK
Ado McGuinness AMG

Supreme

MW Couch doesn't like Irving.
DR Doesnt like Irving. Track will catch him out. Picks Valseur Lido. Davy will work on Western Boy in coming days and a decision will be made. He rides if he runs.
BF Questions the form, but likes Vautour
AMN Can't have Irving. Likes Vautour

Neptune

Andy Mc loving Faugheen
Flanagan points to Red Sherlock form with Rathvinden as a pointer. Faugheen could be an even money shot if Willie has a good day Tuesday
Andrew Lynch would love Briar Hill in this, but likes Oliver Sherwood's Deputy Dan as a bit of a flyer
Davy has issues with Faugheen's jumping. 'I've fierce respect for Red Sherlock.' He can't have Royal Boy
MW: Couch all over Faugheen! 'One of the bets of the Festival'

ALBERT BARTLETT

MW: Couch thinks the Briar Hill/Faugheen ew double is the way to go
Andrew Lynch can't see past Kings Palace. Need a stayer to win this and as a former winner of the race he rates KP
Flanagan agrees with Lynch. Davy loving Briar Hill. Stays very well and jumps very well. They're loving Mullins so far
Briar Hill for Andy Mc. But not as convinced as the others

TRIUMPH HURDLE:

Russell hates the Triumph, but points to Le Rocher's sire as top class NH sire
Couch likes Broughton. Worked 'marvellously' the other day
Brian Flanagan reckons Tiger Roll will be Ireland's best - definitely will reverse form with Guitar Pete. 14/1 great value
Andy Mc poo poos Davy's anti-Triumph theorys. Likes Broughton too
Andrew Lynch is a big Le Rocher fan. Tough horse, and that's what you need to win a Triumph

ARKLE

Andy Mc likes Champagne Fever, can't have Rock on Ruby. Champagne on his A game is unbeatable in this
Couch not sure if Valdez is good enough. English not good enough. As much chance as England winning WC in Brazil.
Couch backing Trifolium and CF 1-2.
Davy says CF is extremely tough to get fit, 'according to the lads'
Lynch likes Rock on Ruby, Champagne Fever to get pipped by ROR. Couch says 9yo horses don't win arkles
Brian Flanagan v impressed by Trifolium at Leop. Points to Byrnes record at #Cheltenham as a positive.

JLT Novices Chase

Couch can't see past Oscar Whiskey.
Flanagan loves Djakadam if he runs,
Lynch puts Sizing Gold up ew, but panel generally in favour of Oscar Whiskey

RSA CHASE:
Andy Mac likes Morning Assembly. Battler and that's what's needed in the RSA
Couch; I don't like three runner races. Don't know what Carlingford Lough's jockey was at? He'll never make it.
Couch: Annacotty wouldn't win if it started now. Think Many Clouds will run a big race at a big price.
BF: If its soft I fancy Morning Assembly. If good Smad Place. Ted Walsh said Ballycasey travelled over badly last year, so wait til day.

WORLD HURDLE
BF: A half fit Big Buck's should have beaten Knockara Beau. Big Bucks looks past his best. Losing Ruby is a big negative.
COUCH: Celestial Halo will go fast. Big Bucks will come on a stone for last run. Salubrious is 20s, he'll run a big race.
DAVY: I couldn't believe Rule The World was beaten last year, he's definitely good enough
Andy Mc: I take it Annie power doesn't run, Big Buck's is a good thing.

CHAMPION HURDLE:

Couch can't have The New One, or 'The Can't Jump One' MY Tent or Yours is the one. Easily best. Reminds him of Binocular
Davy: After New One won the Neptune I thought he was a class act. Our Conor is an exceptional jumper and that is key.Hurricane is unbeatable in Ireland. Not the same in UK. between New One and Our Conor.
PP's Rob won't hear of defeat for the Hurricane
BF: The New One
Lynch: The New One will give Hurricane Fly biggest problem. Ruby will prob follow The New One and win.Our Conor could be next year's Champion Hurdle winner, but this time it's Hurricane Fly
Andy Mac: went ridiculous slow pace in Irish Champion, you can't give Hurricane Fly a sprint finish.

CHAMPION CHASE

Lynch not having Sire De Grugy. Special Tiara slammed him at Aintree. Goin through the field and coming back to Sizing Europe

Flanagan reckons it's a grade 2 this year. Thinks Captain Conan could run a big race. Not a bad reserve. SDG worthy fav tho

Couch reckons Benefficient should go Ryanair. Sizing Europe too old and Captain Conan the value

.@paddypower Rob reckons Captain Conan is a talk horse

Andy Mc says it's a lot closer than you'd think. Jamie Moore said after Ascot: that's great but SDG f***in hates Chelt. Sizing good ew value

Andy Mc rippin the boys now. Russel over Gigg, Lynch over SE goin to the JNwine. Queue howls of laughter

Davy reckons benefficient should go here. He rides Special Tiara and says he felt good the other day. In great form

Ryanair

Flanagan likes First Lieutenant. Davy agrees. Doesn't think he stays Gold Cup trip and Ryanair is made for him! Mouse the man!

Lynch fancies Dynaste, Andy Mc very hopeful of winning with Hidden Cyclone. If a couple are rerouted he fancies his fella.

Rob: @paddypower haven't seen much interest in this. Couch fancies First Lieutenant too (bombproof). Thinks he'll hose up!!!

GOLD CUP

Davy says Last Instalment is a much better horse than Sir Des Champs and will go much better, if ground is slow. Davy also reckons Giant Bolster is a great ew price. 'Will give you a great run for your money'
Couch: can't have Silviniaco Conti. King George form no use! Giant Bolster needs more headgear than Hannibal Lector!!!! Tips Rocky Creek ew.

PP Rob thinks bobs worth will be less than 7/4 on the day.
Andy Mc a Bobs Worth fan. Not mad on Silviniaco.Rocky Creek or Harry Topper could outrun their prices and make the places. Bobs v Last Instalment the obv match
Flanagan: Bobs Worth is the best in the race by far and will win. Also, if Teaforthree were ran he could make a place at 100/1
Lynch fancies 'the class act' Last Instalment

Q&A from the crowd
Q&A. Lord Windermere will try creep into GC, he'd like to sneak a place at best
Q&A Davy asked about Carlito Brigante. Told by new owner he's flying and waiting to see where entered

CHARITY BETS /NAPS

Brian Flanagan: Foxrock charity bet + Balnaslow wherever he goes. Also likes Sea Beat in Fred Winter
Lynch: Le Rocher nap, Sizing Gold JLT
Davy: Valseur Lido Supreme and Triflioum ew (split his bet). Also Dublin to do the double ;)
Andy Mc: Faugheen in Neptune and Lindenhurst ew Fred Winter
Couch: Vaniteux Martin Pipe and Un Temps Pour Tout in Coral should he go. Portway Flyer & Cocktails at Dawn will win this wkend

Don Mc completes the set....Wicklow brave

Arkle :

SM Dodging Bullets hard race last time. Champagne fever Chelt form the best
AH on Arkle champagne fever to beat but Hinterland a great alt on a speed comparison with sire de grugy. Valdez done nothing wrong.
DMc champ fever and dodging bullets the only ones to consider.
John Morris Cham Fever respected but Charles Byrnes Trifolium worth looking at.
PJ : Cham fever too tight a price. Not fancy Dodg bullets

Champ Hurdle

SM My Tent the horse. the fly not solid, new one hurdling a worry.
AH . On soft the fly, MTOY on good, in de screams nowhere
DMc knows how good the fly had to be to beat peddlers that day...will have taken a while to get over it but it was GOOD.

JLT

JM fancies DJackAdam
DMc each way on Don Cossack
PJ and AH like Sizing Gold.
PJ does not fancy Tarquin de Seoul.
No one fancies Cscar Whiskey.

World Hurdle.

Paul Jones.....Annie power wins. To beat her something has to run to 170+ .
Andy Holding...will Annie get trip? Is Big Bucks finished? Primed for upset. More of That the pick.
Andy Holding : Mahler Beach on soft at 50s is huge in world hurdle
DMc ...no problem with Big Bucks, he should win.

Triumph Hurdle
Paul Jones owns share in Rutherglen . Horse up to 135. Forced to run in Triumph. Outside chance.

Albert Bartlett :
PJ front free in mkt tough to beat but Apache Jack full bro to black jack ketchup decent chance at 25s.

Gold Cup
DMc loves Bobs Worth for this. " sticks his chin out when it matters".
JM agrees.
SM loves Bobs Worth too. Haydock run to be dismissed. Leopardstown the form. If you beat Bob, you'll deserve it.
Stewart Machin. Worst possible result for racing plc is Last Instalment .
AH....Bobs Worth is everything you want in a NH horse.
PJ worried about Silvi Conti jumping so very much a Bob man. Rocky Creek each way.

Handicaps .

Supreme
Andrew Moore goes for Vautour. J
ohnny Ward and Robbie McNamara go for Valseur Lido.
AM agrees that he is the value.

Arkle
No real consensus on the Arkle. Positive words for Trifolium from RM and Rock on Ruby is the class angle if he gets his jumping together.

The Champion Hurdle

Just in time Tony Martin has arrived!
Johnny Ward with a big call. Expects Our Conor to turn the form with Hurricane Fly.
Tony Martin agrees. "He will have been trained for this. He should improve 2 or 3 lengths."
TM, JW - Our Conor RM - The Fly (Sole bit of love for the Fly!)
AM - Jezki E/W

Neptune
RM comes straight out of the gate and makes Faugheen his NAP of the festival. Ridden against him and in work. Machine.
TM very sweet on Rathvinden. Can't see him out of the places. AM and JW both agree.
JW - "Not certain Faugheen runs in this."

RSA.
Irish horses all beating each other. Ballycasey got a soft lead in Leopardstown. Hard to have a strong view.

Champion Chase
Now for The Worst Champion Chase Ever!
RM can't see many faults with SDG.
AM agrees but they will have to take him on.
@CassStephen trying his best to get TM to run Benneficient. TM says won't run.
JW can't see a bet.

Bumper

TM bullish on Gollintilla. Needed the run last day. Better ground will help. Not out of first three.
RM - If ground is soft would ride Vigil. Otherwise Silver Concorde. If he stays nothing else will beat him. Would win listed race over 12f.
JW going against the grain and going for an English horse. If Modus was trained here he'd be a lot shorter.
RM gives a very positive word for Value at Risk. Heard Richard Hughes rides.

JLT

JW very bullish about Felix Yonger. If ground is good he wins as he likes.
RM agrees.
TM very sweet on Oscar Whiskey.
AM agrees but sides with Felix. All about the ground.

Ryanair

TM obviously starts. Ideal race for Benneficient. Won't run if ground is heavy. Hot race but hopeful.
AM quotes C&D form for him.
JW thinks First Lieutenant deserves his place in market. Between him and Beneficient. Edging toward TM's horse.
RM thinks Hidden Cyclone is the bet. Much better left handed.

World Hurdle.
AM - Keeping Annie on side. Very tough for Bucks. Annie could go off 6/4. Zarkander e/w out of Nichols horses. Annie Power is the bet.
JW thinks Annie is an "All Ireland Price". Absolute machine. NRNB 5/2 Fill your boots.
Massive Annie Power love in. RM throws a curve ball and puts up Mount Benbulben. Doesn't like fences. Big price for a place.
TM throws in More of That. AM talks about how much of a farce the mares race is. Quevega should have won a World Hurdle.

Triumph.
TM thinks Le Rocher is the bet of the festival. @CassStephen tries to talk about stats. TM having none of it!
JW - Broughton one for him.
Intrigued by TM's banker.
RM also weighs in behind Le Rocher. Irish have no chance!
AM would be worried about Le Rocher being over the top. Would be very much with Calipto.
RM says Geraghty very sweet on Royal Irish.

Albert Bartlett
JW not sure Briar Hill will be able to pick up Kings Palace. Holes in Briar Hills form.
TM - Further BH goes more he'll come on the bridle. Sprinted up the hill last year. Very sweet on him.
RM - Briar Hill hasn't raced against anything like Kings Palace. 3m an issue. Kings Palace the one.

Gold Cup
RM - Lat Installment I jumped fences for sport last day. If any improvement and ground is easy he'll get into a lovely rhythm and nothing will beat him.
JW loves LI. Bobs Worth one to beat but if LI gets into rhythm he'll be very hard to pass. If LI wins it'll be sporing fairytale.
AM saying Captain Chris is biggest loser. Bewildered with people backing him. Bobs Worth one to beat after Lexus.
TM doesn't care what ground is. If Last Instalment runs he wins. Big Call!

Handicaps

AM - Handicaps. Colour Squadron in Byrne Group Plate. Pendra in Novice on first day.
JW - Whatever Renetti runs in.
TM - Sraid Padraig. If he runs it'll be 3m on first day.
RM - Tammy's Hill NRNB Lump On!
TM - Vitrix Gale in the Kim Muir. Has a right chance. E/W bet of the festival!
TM says Thomas Edison is a fair horse. Isn't giving much away.... AM mentions he is only entered in County Hurdle. "Few pound E/W".
When asked about value bets both TM & RM were very bullish about Star Neuville in the Cross Country.

Harrington says if Annie Power was hers, she would run in the Champion Hurdle.
I'm sitting beside Henry De Bromhead who says Ricci told him he wants to run Annie Power in the Champion.
Noel O'Brien suggests Big Bucks current form means Willie could be tempted to go for the @Ladbrokes WH. "I think she could win".

RSA

@nickluck is not really a fan of anything but Smad Place is a fair price. NOB likes Ballycasey "Top rated". Carlingford Lough e/w
Fitz thinks the Irish dominate. Likes Carlingford Lough. Says Smad Place is best of the English. Harrington like CL.
Russell rides Morning Assembly and is really looking forward to him. Says Carlingford Lough is the biggest danger.
McGrath goes for Morning Assembly and Russell says he worked well yesterday "Jumped the best he ever has".

Champion Chase

Francome - "Big test for Jamie Moore. Special horse. Like to see him win".

Nick goes for Captain Conan "Corky has told us he's working well".
Corky is mad about Captain Conan.

Bumper
Gleeson - "who will win the Bumper Davy?" Russell - "Ireland!"
Bumper - @nickluck says Seven Nation Army is rated very highly by David Pipe and is a bet @ 25/1 with @LadsNags
McGrath "Not one horse in the race is within 10lbs of the last five winners of the Champion Bumper." Davy says that's a load of nonsense.
Russell - "How did Killultagh Vic hammer last years 3rd Golantilla LTO so?" McGrath silenced.

@nickluck agrees "he's the most likely winner".
Francome, Segal, McGrath and @nickluck all go for Dyanste
@hayleyladbrokes, Fitz go for Benefficient
For the first time tonight Corky tips a non Henderson Horse! He goes for First Lieutenant as does Davy Russell.

World Hurdle
@nickluck says JP will win the WH but with what? "It's a hard choice for AP. They are an incredibly potent duo". Negative Annie Power for WH.
McGrath is very negative on Big Bucks. Says STD showed immaturity on TNO at Kempton and BB at #Cheltenham
Standby for a Russell BOMBSHELL. Russell asks if Ruby would get the leg up on Big Bucks if AP is a non-runner. But seems to be suggesting he will...
Russell talks up Rule The World for the WH. Mick shouts "Mouse won't speak to you!" The crowd laugh and Davy falls silent!
Tom Segal asks the panel if anyone would back BB at 2/1 after that race? Francome "Yeah" Segal "Oh I forgot he's the favourite!"
Segal "I wouldn't back Big Bucks with anyone's money"
Segal "Does anyone know where AFC went, Did he go to Martinstown?" Someone in the crowd yells "he went to Philip Fentons!" Everyone laughs

Panel

Kevin Blake,
Kevin O'Ryan,
Patrick Mullins,
Richie McLernon
Bryan Cooper with the hints and tips.
Trainers John McConnell
and Tony Mullins

http://www.fatjockey.com/forum/show...eltenham-Festival-Preview-Night-Reports/page9

Novice Hurdles
Pat Mullins quashes Vautour rumours and is pretty confident. Bigs up his other two diplomatically
All Mullins novice hurdlers top drawer says Pat. No chance he'd say one of them is a dog I suppose. Keenest on briar hill

Cooper keener on Wicklow Brave for the supreme. Hopeful for lieutenant colonel in Neptune. Apache jack e/w in AB

Richie reckons Irving will win supreme, few good English horses about. Likes the Pipe pair in AB and Neptune

Blake reckons Irish will take supreme, Wicklow Brave maybe. Faugheen in the Neptune and briar hill. Mullins all the way

McConnell goes Irving, Faugheen and Briar Hill

Tony Mullins goes Irving Red Sherlock and Briar Hill for the novice hurdles

Cooper in spotlight over tiger roll and guitar Pete in the triumph. More improvement from former he reckons.

Tony Mullins says the triumph is shite this year, go have a cup of tea. It's always a balls of a horse that wins it

Novice Chases

Trifolium for Cooper, can't have Dodging Bullets fears Champagne Fever. Likes ballycasey in rsa

Mullins cool on champagne fever, very positive about Felix younger on good and ballycasey

Taquin De Seuil could go rsa says McLernon. Interesting. ..

Blake goes ROR for arkle; not a hope says Mullins. The Fly broke him last year

Blake says Felix younger for jlt - very strong on him. Ballycasey for rsa

Tony Mullins goes champagne fever, Felix younger and morning assembly

World Hurdle

Quevega not in Annie Power league. Go WH, there's nothing else in it says Tony Mullins.
Tony gives sam twiston-davies loads. He's a fool. Might have ruined big bucks with last run.

Patrick Mullins leaning strongly towards WH for Annie Power. Still noncommittal. Well schooled by the old man
Poker faces from certain interested parties on the panel regarding world hurdle. Typical

Champion Hurdle

Patrick Mullins very strong on Hurricane Fly for CH. In other news Friday follows Thursday. Says topspeed a load of bollox
Pat throws in a few provisos re: the fly, but yeah, he's going to win it
Cooper reckons our conor will be v close. Not much love for The New One. Sam TD or STD, if you like, getting more slagging
A fall or foot and mouth the only things that'll stop the fly says Tony.

Queen Mother/Ryanair

Blake likes captain conan for this. Good vibes for that one from panel. First lieutenant for Ryanair.
Whole panel seems to want to move on from QM and Ryanair. Very much blah blah whatever. Anyone fancy a pint?

Gold Cup
Gold Cup: no one veering from bobs worth, last instalment, silviniaco conti Tony keen on latter but can't pronounce him

Bumper
Patrick keeping cards close to chest on bumper. Goes with black hercules under duress.
Balnaslow gets positive mention.

Others

Blue hell each way for the Fred winter if it gets in says Tony.

Arctic hero in county hurdle says Cooper. If in doubt says McLernon and goodwood mirage in Fred winter

Blake goes for Arctic fire as a dark horse probably in the county

John McConnell keen on his own one in the fred winter and regal encore in the Martin pipe. Also likes pendra in nov chase

Charity bets:
Blake: Arctic fire
Tony: Felix younger
Cooper: ted veale;
patrick: briar hill;
richie: activial
Kevin O'ryan and John McConnell both go for pendra. T

I nicked this from another forum ;) re Dublin last night

JW - Trifolium not right, Arnaud goes to Aintree. CB reckons ROR is the biggest danger to Trif.
TM told me Living Next Door was his best chance.
RMac sweet on Silver Concorde, slight worry about the trip.
TM v sweet on Golantilla.
Big pluses for Last Instalment & Faugheen.
Robbie Mac slated Jaime Moore, said he's useless. Said that Tom Scu rides like he's late for his lift home.
TM saying they should 'dope' Faugheen to calm him down was priceless

The MC went to a piss break at one stage, came back and said I was just laying Bene for the QM (after TM said defo wont run there), TM straight back: I just backed him

They reckon Modus is trained by Roger Charlton

Kanturk Point To Point Cheltenham Preview.

Friday 28 Feb

Panel: Jim Culloty, Patrick Wilmott, Patrick Mullins, Jane Mangan, Lad from Boylesports.

Day 1. Hurricane Fly Our Conor 1/2 likely in Champion Hurdle.
Danny Mullins the liability for the latter despite PM doing his best to prove that "blood runs thicker than vodka!"
PM had no surprises re Annie Power except that she was most likely to run in World Hurdle.
Trifolium the consensus in Arkle.
Hugely varied opinion in Supreme Novice.
Foxrock considered a good thing in NH Chase esp as Danny wont be riding him!

Day 2
PM very keen on Faugheen on better ground
JC would fancy Red Sherlock with Timmy Murphy riding not with Tom Scu though.
PM likes Ballycasey ew saying Barry G thought he would reverse places with Red Sherlock

RSA
JC keen on Smad Place ew
PM Ballycasey to win
All keen on Carlingford Lough to place
Many Clouds liked ew also.

Coral Cup
PM thinks Sure Reef has a nice racing weight 10/12 but stressed that WPM has "only" won 2 or 3 handicaps.

2 Mile Chase
A poor renewal was the consensus with Baily Green and Sizing Europe the ew value

Cross Country

A Carberry 1-2 Love Rory /Big Shu

Bumper
PM cannot separate Black Hercules, Shaneshill or Killultagh Vic
As BH was bought by Emmet and himself and won p2p maiden at Dromahane he is more attached to him. Given their last 2 Champion Bumper winners came from p2p route he prefers the strength and stamina of these types over flat bred types for the race.
JM amazed at the speed of the Naas race with Killultagh Vic keeping up an impossibly quick gallop.
JC informs that Robbie Mc p****d that Pat Smullen has first choice of Weld horse for the race and would most likely pick Silver Concorde, a horse named to be the aeroplane he is !

Day 3

JLT NOv Chase

PM and PW very sweet on Faugheen.
Both agree he would prefer good ground
JM likes Wonderful Charm and dislikes Oscar Whisky
Vukovar on soft ground would keep all the little Vookers very happy according to PW !

RYANAIR
PW Dynaste
JM Benefficient ew
JC First Lieutenant

World Hurdle
JC Big Bucks by a street.

Others Annie Power

Day 4
Albert Bartlett
PM all over Briar Hill. his Nap of the week . Believes he could win any of the Novice Hurdles there and is the Stable Nap ( even Danny could win on him)
Triumph Hurdle
PM wondered aloud why his father bought flat horses to try teach them jump for this race when he could buy p2p horses that would have a future !
PW Soft ground Calipto or LE Rocher
Good ground Royal Irish Huzzar ew
Guitar Pete his bismarck.
JC Guitar Pete ew
JM Tiger Roll ew
ANO Lindenhurst ew a steal at 50/1 !

Gold Cup
Bobsworth unanimous
JC hoping for a fast pace for Lord Windemere to be ridden for a place.

Foxhunters
JM Oscar Delta lights up at Cheltenham so is hopeful again!
PM Mossey Joe doubtful to run.
Believes it is Enda Bolger's race to lose with On The Fringe

NAP Bismarck
PM Briar Hill Irving
JC Carlingford Lough ew
PW On The Fringe / Annie Power Irving
JM Faugheen Oscar Whiskey

A minutes silence was observed for Ryan Cusack RIP who died last week .
Enda Bolger did not attend due to his bereavement.
An Enjoyable well attended night.
Baldeagle won a raffle prize so the drive home was good humoured !Kanturk Point To Point Cheltenham Preview.

Adare this evening and something after racing at Leopardstown.

A couple in Kerry

Christy's Bar in Listowel will host the best line-up of any preview anywhere tomorrow. All monies will go The Parents and Friends of The Mentally Handicapped. Browne Bookmakers will be giving out free bets and special prices.

And on Wednesday night in Tralee, 19-year-old Gerard Mulvihill, a Con Houlihan young sports journalist winner, has helped organise a big night for Enable Ireland at Ballyroe Heights Hotel near Tralee.

Paddy Power are giving generously with great offers. Gerard has gathered an incredible collection of sports memorabilia for auction, including signed Katie Taylor gloves and an autographed David Beckham football. Get to the two big nights out and your card will be well marked for Cheltenham.

Jonathan Mullin https://twitter.com/_fearanphoistand Limerick leader sport tweeting from Dunraven Arms later: N Henderson, T Segal, Andy Mac, H Fry, N Luck, David Minton and Willie Power...

Going

Simon Claisse live from Chel: almost changed Gd to soft, soft in places but tipping down rain so left it alone.

Says Claisse: Watering unlikely but forecast good, temperature rise from Wed next week, up to 15 degrees...

Claisse; tempted to change to Gd to soft today but rain came as promised and left at Soft

FatJockey.com Cheltenham Preview Reports

Supreme

N Henderson: Vaniteux's work this morning has put him in the Supreme team. Barry G will decide later this week what he rides

Segal: I like Gilgamboa for the Supreme. (JP McManus is on nearby table and we'll hear from him later...)

JP has a preference for the supreme regarding Gilgamboa #dunravencheltpreview

Arkle

Harry Fry: AP McCoy very complimentary to N Fehily re Rock On Ruby after pulling up at Doncaster

Nicky Henderson: needs good ground for Grandouet who, he admits, didn't work well at Kempton on Friday

( My note : read earlier Tinkler said if Grandouet was in a jumpers bumper he would have fallen).

Champion Hurdle

Nicky: of all my champion hurdle winners (five I think), My Tent the fastest. Our Conor one to beat:"what we saw in Triumph was spectacular"

JP very happy with MTOY for CH, in handicaps Regal encore has a big shout

Champion Chase

Nicky Henderson relaying the various tinkering that's gone on with captain conan re: QM. Seems hopeful

Andy Mac says Jamie Moore told him Sire De Grugy 'fackin ates' Cheltenham. #dunravencheltpreview #gold

Fry weighs in on Annie power side but says he'd go to CH #dunravencheltpreview

Ryanair

Pricewise all over dynaste for the Ryanair. Andy Mac agrees as do Harry Fry and David Minton. Henderson also #dunravencheltpreview

Segal: Dynaste's Haydock runs entitled him to win Ryanair. "That was the best chase run this season - trip fine, but has to settle"

Nicky: Radjani Express + Hunt Ball could run in Ryanair. "It's a very winnable Ryanair, not a great one." Minton says Dynaste "a good thing"

JLT

Now for JLT: hendo talking up Oscar Whiskey on good ground. Fry circumspect about Vukovar but seems quietly confident #dunravencheltpreview

Nicky: 2m4f around Chel is exactly what Oscar Whisky wants and he finally has it this year. "On good ground he is one of our best chances."

World Hurdle

Segal: Big Buck's the worst value of the festival by far. Hard comeback race on terrible ground, 11yo + now running in toughest World Hurdle

David Minton: slightly surprised that AP didn't choose More Of That

World hurdle: Annie Power's prospect of settling the major talking point. Andy Mac says he'd rather ride Big Buck's

Hendo makes point that ruby Walsh knows he can beat big buck's and that's why they're going WH with Annie Power. #dunravencheltpreview

Harry Fry: if I had the pick of any Chel entry to add to my team it would be Annie Power

JP Mcmanus says he'd have stuck Annie power in the mares hurdle, has nothing else for it obviously

Triumph

David Minton: I'm told that Gitane De Berlais and Abyssial are Willie Mullins' two runners in Triumph, and Gitane goes with big ew shout

Albert Bartlett

Nicky: re Captain Cutter says that they will keep eye on WP's: "AP told me he has more respect for Briar Hill than any other Irish novice"

Briar hill is the one to beat in the AB says everyone except fry and Minton (nap) who goes for kings palace

Gold Cup

Andrew Mc: Last Instalment the Gold Cup value, Lindenhurst (Fred Winter) his tip for handicaps (and he tipped Big Shu last year!)

Bobs Worth schooled better than ever last Friday says hendo. Fears last instalment more than silviniaco

Minton says hendo was only helping poor old @BarryJGeraghty out when they went 20k to buy bobs worth #dunravencheltpreview

Bumper

Andy Mac: I think Robbie (McNamara) rides Silver Concorde but I get the impression he's prefer to be on Vigil!

Handicaps

Richard Johnson on phone link to Dunraven: Fingal Bay my best chance of Chel winner. Grade 1 winner and will come on for last run

Dickie: Cheltenian a County hope rather than supreme. "Two of my best chances are in handicaps which is worrying!"

JP McManus: of his handicappers Regal Encore "could be too well handicapped and might not get a run"

Naps
willie power, our conor:
morning assembly for pricewise;
hendo, Our conor;
fry, Annie power
Minton kings palace;
Andy Mac, Faugheen; l
Luck goes for last instalment
