General Chat

Hi all,

Hope you don’t mind me jumping in. I’ve been working on a small racing side project and thought this might be a good place to share it with the Grand National coming up.

It’s called FriendlyBet - basically a race-day tipping competition where you pick across the full card and compete on a live leaderboard. You can play in your web browser or iOS/Android.

Everything’s handled automatically (picks, scoring, results, leaderboard etc), so no spreadsheets or manual tracking needed.

I’ve just started testing it with a small group over on The Racing Forum as well and it’s been really useful getting feedback from people who in the racing community.

At the moment it’s completely free to play (no deposits or anything like that), just running a few test groups ahead of the Grand National to see how it feels in a live setting and get any feedback on scoring etc...

If it sounds like something you’d fancy trying, just drop me a message and I can send the details over.

Happy to answer any questions as well.

Cheers
Craig

Cheltenham racecourse have announced the final three fixtures of the season at the track have been cancelled to allow for an upgrade of the drainage system in the home straight.

There was a long delay to a meeting at the course in January after a hole appeared which was later attributed to a collapsed drain.

Don't want to upgrade that drainage too much, Willie won't bring anything over if it ends up a good ground meeting 😏
True, but filling in the holes that in all probability cost Kopek des Bordes and Search For Glory victory and almost took away Impaire Et Passe's champion chase crown is a necessary piece of work...

Could we use pieces of Frankie Dettori to fill the holes, if so we should've started work weeks ago..

Big decision BUT most definitely the right decision. Respect to the racecourse management team.

Craig - can you DM me the details. Thanks

Guys ladbrokes have king of answers at 16/1 for Scottish national while others have him favourite at 8/1 , I’m pretty sure he would have won at the festival with a half decent start but I’m also pretty sure he will
Run a huge race at Ayr and all being well with him it is the plan

Wonder if Jimmy Du Seuil might revert back hurdling next year, didn't look a natural chaser to my eye. won the Coral off 146 giving impoise 5lbs and 3Lbeating. , loves Cheltenham. Might be lively outsider for the Stayers.

Newcastle Finals Day tomorrow if anyone fancies giving the racing competition a go.🏇

There’s a live meeting on there every day at the moment, so easy enough to jump in and have a play around.

If there’s a few of us up for it, we could set up a little FatJockey competition as well- see who really knows their stuff.

Shout if you want the link 👍

…..for anybody interested, there is a bit of discussion in the GN thread in NH forum including trainer quotes (maybe some interesting ones from Dan Skelton).

Sans Bruit is my main bet of the day - has to have a brilliant chance of winning it for the third time.
Really like Unexpected Party too in the Hunter Chase. Surprised he's not favourite.

Also backed Impaire Et Passe, El Fab, TNL and Winston Junior

Is Salvator Mundi not more likely to go for the 2 miler on the Saturday? Unless anything has been said about stepping him up in trip?

Had a little ew on Potters Charm for the Aintree hurdle, thought 16's was a fair price.
Mambonumberfive is a big price in the Manifesto, while I think Lulamba will be tough to beat, is always a chance that Cheltenham has taken more out of them than connections think.
JPR One back to 2 miles in handicap company I'll also give a chance too, ran a blinder in the Ryanair but he's stuck in that gulf between Top class handicapper & Grade 1 performer, a victim of his own consistency if you like.
Princess Day looks smart in the mares bumper, might be an improver in the field but they'll need to go some to turn her over imo.

16/1 Glance at Midnight in the Hills Hcap Hdle looks very big

2nd last time beaten 4L by Act of Innocence in the Sydney banks and was 5L infront of County Hdle 5th Sinnatra
