2026 Novice Hurdlers

Sortudo at 12/1 for me. Solid run in the bumper. He'd be 3/3 IMO if hurdles weren't omitted LTO. Danny is riding well and his is breeding is superb. I do like I'll Sort That - he'd be 5/1 or shorter if trained by Willie IMO, I just have doubts about the hill. Can see him front running and looking all over the winner coming down the hill before not getting up it. Perhaps I am doing him a disservice, he is 6/7 with his one loss getting walloped by Sortudo in the flat race post Cheltenham. Sortudo also smashed Jalon d'Oudairies who has come out and won since. Will need to take a big step forward but IMO he's achieved more that Sober on paper who is half the price. Sober seems to be the talking horse, just can't get my head around Paul choose KRG if he was 'the one'.

Apparently first time since 2011 that the Irish didn't have a horse in the first three in the Supreme.

Managed to get Bossman rolled up last night just in case. Skelton's horses all ran well yesterday. The way he plots them, it's feasible this lad has improved a bundle and the money for him could have been genuine.

If a horse boppin about Class 4s wins the Turners i just don't know anymore

Thought I’d risk taking a look on this thread and I’m glad to report that we still haven’t lost our ability to grade on a curve.

I like him as well, was more keen before I saw Talk the Talk run yesterday!!
Would be concerned if already backed the Irish novices for today.
Sortudo and/or I’ll Sort That could be the best of them today?
I backed Sortudo and I'll Sort That on Sunday/Monday, as they pulled away from the rest of the field and both have some nice form.
But yeah, its hard to ignore the results from yesterday and how the races are being won

You really need something that can be up there, but has a turn of foot. Annoying I didnt respond to this yesterday but I was at Cheltenham and had a fair too many drinks by the Champion Hurdle.

This renewal reminds me of the Willoughby Court race, big field, the irish didnt look to have anything. The winner won from the front and Neon Wolf was always close by him. In Play betting is the way to go today!

Just watch out for over compensation, from the jockeys I mean

It feels like today could be a boil over. NDTE has done nothing wrong but is the de facto fav due to the DRF form line. I think those horses are overpriced, but I also think that three horses finishing in a heap probably means it's an average race, rather than three good horses.

Act Of Innocence's form looks solid rather than spectacular.

I do like the Moscow Flyer form and think that's being underrated. The way Sober accelerated past his rivals was super impressive. We know he likes good ground and stays too. My worry is that Patrick will drop him out to get him jumping which you don't want on the Old Course.

I think Free Spirit will appreciate the sounder surface and, given it was his racecourse debut, I think he could improve significantly for that run. He'd be on my list at a wild price.

Hurricane Pat also interests me. This race will be similar to Sandown in that he will be able to come off a slower pace, rather than being burned off like he was at Haydock.

But the one I've come round to is Laurets D'estruval. He should want to race in the van - that's where he's been on all his starts so far. He should appreciate the sounder surface too being by Saint Des Saints out of a Nickname mare. He travelled beautifully last time out and but the race to bed within a few strides of being asked too. I think he's going to be my bet for the day.

King Rasko Grey might be in foal again. 3rd of Willie's now!

Markets just about figured out Willie's best novice hurdler so far this season is Sortudo. Fair chance he goes off 2nd fav.
Yep, I'm playing follow the money here. Fresh eyes today and like him or KRG. Think KRG will travel strongly but doesn't like a battle.

Sortudo ftw

But are the Irish novice hurdlers just crap this year?

You could definitely argue the DRF and Christmas novices over 2 mile might be a bit subpar. But there is a few form lines untested yet. Talking mainly the Naas horses. The Brits felt strong in the Supreme but not quite as strong here. They can be taken on in my opinion.

I like Sortudo for this but any reason why Townend has never ran on him
Anything to do with the connections, I'm assuming its mainly because Paul thought there was another in the race that was better than him

I dont mind Danny on Sortudo one bit
