Ballymore Novice Hurdle 2019

Regarding Pym, its not normal for N.H. to run a good horse so many times, however its your money and he's not for me sorry.

Out of hendos he's a load of nice ptp/ bumper horses. But with his form with vinndiation and being a 2nd season novice hurdler like mengli khan. CHAMP would interest me, I wouldn't go over board on him as he has a lenient lookong mark of 139 and enough runs that they might look to exploit at the festival in the martin pipe. However they could be sitting on him waiting to run him in something like the Lanzarote on route to here should he progress

I've been thinking about Champ for the betfair hurdle for ages.

Off the top of my head he ran Altior similarly 3 times in quick succession and again at Christmas before readying him on the gallops for the Supreme and he is one of his best. I haven’t backed Pym for tomorrow if that’s what your referring to but I do have a 45/1 e/w ticket for the Ballymore. He needs the trip he’s got tomorrow and he’ll have to put a disappointing last run behind him but I’d be hopeful of that!

Yes Altior did run 3 times before christmas however he only raced at around the 2 miles and won them all. Pym will have raced 3 times if he runs to morrow and maybe this will be his trip because 2 mile certainly isn't. So best of luck tomorrow and beyond.

Commander Of Fleet declared for a 2m 4 hurdle at punchestown tomorrow.

Im surprised he didn't take up the 2m maiden for 4 year olds at cork on sunday on the softer ground.

What do you do here? he hoses up here at 1/4 as they've found a very easy introduction. He's already short enough at 16s. But the fashion he'll win here he'll get cut a fair bit even though we've learned nothing.

You either take the 16s or you'll miss the boat. But as we've seen with Felix desjy you wont find out how good he is until hes in a proper race so can do your dough pretty quick.

Gordon's got so many there for the ballymore there's no guarentee at all that he's the pick of his. Let alone the other yards. If samcro diddnt win last year this lad would be 25s and a different scenario.

You back him any race and watch him win the Martin Pipe :highly_amused:

Agree regarding his price, and did write about recency bias with regards to so many thinking he will be the Ballymore horse, of course, he may still turn out to be, but the 16's is poor really.

That all said, I have gone in on the exchanges on him, and glad they have found, what looks like a nice, easy introduction, so I can lay it off once he shortens after hopefully winning on debut, which was always my plan anyway.

The price is too short and your'e right its due to samcro last year, however at least we have seen him run in Ireland, in a bumper and look very impressive, With Column of fire franking that form. I know he hadn't done much work with Column of fire so he might well improve pass Commander of Fleet but seeing as hes keeping him back in bumpers this season with Malone road and hopefully Envoi Allen suggests hes happy with whatever novice hurdlers he has for this season.

Feel My Pulse will probably stick to bumpers wouldn't he? Winning a PTP in march, he was very impressive.

Vision Dhonneur, COF, Invincible Cave, Getaway John all have had a few entries over hurdles.

Goes straight for a maiden hurdle according to connections. Same for cool getaway set to skip bumpers and has serious ptp form.

Not sure where they go with Pym now, not up to standard for me.

Starting to look like this seasons Jenkins, they'll find a couple of 'caps for him somewhere but ultimately he doesn't look top table material...

Yeah he's probably just not top drawer, todays run was an improvement on last time out and his jumping was a lot sharper but Coolanly has decent form in the book and he made the extra years experience/strength pay up the hill. I think both will probably line up in the Ballymore in March.

Im not totally giving up hope on him just yet anyway.

Is the price any worse than Annamix though yet everyone has piled into him? At least with Commander Of Fleet you have a visual performance to form an opinion yet no one outside of Mullins yard knows what Annamix can do.

I don't think it's lazy or even recency bias more the fact that he put up a visually impressive performance and their had been lots of positive comments about him too. 16/1 based on the performance and connections is very fair in today's crazy ante post markets.

Annamix was 20's though. The weight of money has caused the current price, of which I agree is now way too short!

COF was priced at 16's because of Samcro, no doubt about that for me. Samcro was 20's at one point!!

The bookies are the one's setting these opening ante post prices and they're going to be cautious after what happened with Samcro. Also, every year it seems the opening prices get less generous. But as a punter if 16/1 is the biggest available and you know he's going to shorten, what else can you do?

From Gordon Elliott Betfair blog about Commander Of Fleet

He's going to start out in a two and a half mile maiden hurdle and I'm hoping he is bright prospect for the coming months. After winning his point-to-point for Pat Doyle he came to us last spring and he couldn't have been any more impressive in winning the Land Rover Bumper at Punchestown in April.

Column Of Fire, who was second that day, boosted the form by winning last weekend which was encouraging. As ever he is going to improve from this but he is working nicely and has schooled well so hopefully he will be thereabouts.
