October Forum Yankee

If we’re going life changer, I’d like to put forward a horse who was due to run today.

Road to Respect - Gold Cup.

He finished 4th on ground he would’ve despised and wasn’t too far off the pace early on before being taken back and eventually outstayed by Anibale Fly on the ground.

25/1 or 33s in places looks too big for me, and I know he’d have all sorts of trends against him but it’s undoubtedly true that he is better on true Spring ground.

I'm a big fan of Road To Respect but I'd be concerned that the official reason for him not running today was the ground conditions.

Was thinking that myself seen as that is what the ground (good) normally is come the festival. Good horses go on all ground. It worries me he didn’t run today

I'm all in favour of a 'life changer' for October !!

A la Mayo !

To be fair Mayo should have his own thread for "The Mayo Million"

Haha, Mayo Multi-Millions

Mayo's Millions

If we are going for a "biggie" this month (two solid 33/1 shots mentioned already), then I would be keen to get Al Boum Photo (Gold Cup) into one of these.
33/1 with SkyBet and according to the stable tour - he will be aimed at the Gold Cup.
Whilst Willie has never won the thing... that has to change at some stage... right???

Unless they go there with Faugheen as a Novice, he has to be their number one choice for it doesn’t he?

Bellshill is better going right handed. Footpad I can’t see going for the GC this year. So that pretty much leaves ABP to be Ruby’s ride and as a huge fan of Presenting Percy, I can’t see why he’s 5 times the price.

I could actually see them go Gold Cup with Footpad BUT given the uncertainty over Footpad target and that ABP will be aimed at the race (and ABP price is bigger!) - he would be a "safer" option this far out.

I wouldn’t be against ABP

I love ABP. Happy with him from my camp

A.b.P fine with me :encouragement::encouragement:, 33-1 at coral too.

I personally think ABP’s fall in the RSA last year was a tired tumble, don’t think there was much left in the tank myself! He looked a little immature physically so if he’s filled out & strengthened up he could be a different proposition but based on the RSA there’s no way he’s reversing the form book with PP in my eyes.

ABP? I hope he’s learnt how to jump then....

We don't need it to jump, we need him to turn up on the day at a shorter price so we can all feel unlucky when he doesn't complete.

Joking aside, Willie often says he doesn't school his chasers over fences during the season for risk of injury (this may be nonsense but it's in my perceived wisdom for some of his horses) whereas a trainer like Paul Nicholls would have them schooling 'regularly'. I'd prefer a chaser to be with Paul Nicholls but I imagine that is a minority view, despite PN being the big dog!

ABP the moral RSA winner :devilish: finishes every race with plenty.

Has anyone heard of Annamix?

Owned by S.Ricci - and in training with Willie Mullins (good record in the Supreme).

Been some money for him.... 14s available.

Annamix - Supreme
Mengli Khan - Arkle
Energumene - Bumper
Al Boum Photo - Gold Cup

Is that where we're at with 66% of the month gone?

**Sorry I've added Annamix tongue in cheek, but I imagine it'll be popular...

I’d be happy enough with this.

This is the last month where we effectively go blind. From November onwards, we will at least have some form to reference into.

Have to be careful we don't wipe out too many bookies chaps, then we'll have nobody to back our horse with.
I like Kalashnikov for the Arkle, heard a fair bit of chatter about his wellbeing on coming back in, this race looks set to cut up really badly to me with most of those at the top of the betting looking like having other preferred targets.
