Ryanair Chase 2018

Potentially, I suppose.

When Waiting Paitently comes out, what price will UDS get cut to?

Didn't same sort of thing happen last year ? then he was bigger on the day ?
I was against him last year but ended up with top notch at 12s and empire of dirt 33s against it so able to back him on the morning.
This year I've got WP 18-1 BDFlos 12s and cloudy dream 16s.
I'll have to double him with Laurina I reckon.

Providing there is no late switches from WPM, UDS a stone banker here for me.

I think that'll be a double that the bookies boost in the next few days .... 5/1? 4/1? Maybe!

Im seeing a few people seem to think min will end up here. Actually makes sense since everyone in the yard including willie dont seem to think he can reverse form with altior and ruby likely to pick douvan. Plus the fact yorkhill was being considered for this shows mullins doesnt mind running another one against uds

I see that the Peterborough chase stat that I stick with religiously has stayed intact.

I agree, I’m tempted to take the 4/1 NRNB on min turning up here. I took a bet a few weeks ago of douvan participating at any race at 3/1 and see that same special at 4/5 on now. Given the news coming out on douvan recently and RR trend of splitting horses then it think min could be shorter on the day

Who was that special with?

I actually think Min could still divert to the CH as opposed to this. Personally feel Yorkhill is more likely to run here

Personally, I really struggle to shake the opinion that UDS is quite a lucky horse in that races often end up cutting up a little. Last years version of this race was so poor, yes he had them comfortably beat two out, but I think UDS was close to emptying at the line and the margin diminished at the end. The second is decent without being that good, whilst dont think Empire of Dirt ran its race and probably top class handicapper/G3 horse at best and Aso in fourth a good standard handicapper.

Its kinda fallen apart around UDS again. WP appears unlikely runner, Fox Norton out, Top Notch out, Yorkhill enigma/mad genuis, Djakadam goes GC.

The races looks marginally better than last seasons. UDS probably should win, but I am still inclined to take it on with something on the day. I used to be a fan of this race, but last years renewal and the way this years is shaping up is very disappointing in quality.

I have opposed Un De Sceaux all year but can't get away from the fact he's now the most likely winner. Remember also that last year's run was a bit of a freak in how he pulled his way to the front so early. He seems to have settled better in his races this year so there's every chance his performance this year will be better than last year's

Having looked at all of Un De Sceaux's wins it appears the best horse he has beat is a ten year old Sire De Grugy.

He's beaten 3 Champion Chase winners (Special Tiara, Sire De Grugy and Dodging Bullets) and a Ryanair winner (Uxizandre) and he must be a joy to own.

Un De Sceaux arguably the most under rated horse in training.

Fabulous record.

Absolutely a joy to own and I'd love to have him but at the same time had Sprinter and Douvan stayed sound none of those would be Champion Chasers. IMO they are the 3 worst Champion Chasers since I got into racing in 2008. Uxi was off for nearly 2 years when they met hardly the same horse who won the Ryanair. He beat Dodging Bullets after he had been off for nearly a year and was never the same horse. He beat Special Tiara a nose who then came out and won a brutal Champion Chase last year, Douvan beat 12L despite being injured and lame. Fox Norton beat him fair and square at Punchestown last year.

over rated ability wise imo. As his price here tells the story.
Horse of a lifetime to own. He's been placed exceptionally he's beat little of the highest quality throughout his career and he's not a superstar imo.
However
his will to win and thirst for the game is undeniable he's extremely hard to beat on soft heavy.
He fell in Ireland one day early on in the race, and came back into the shot without a jockey on him and powered home to get up on the line. He got back up and carried on riderless and in his own mind he probably won the race. That sums him up to me. He wouldn't have exceptional ability on decent ground but he gives his all.

Reminds me very much of Petit Mouchoir, a horse with a heart you should never underestimate and being that his Dam's Sire is UDS's Sire I'd suggest it probably comes from that side of them. Denham Red produces them tough as nails, and when they have talent as well they clearly go far.

I love UDS, I don't think he is underrated personally, I have always held him high on any list I have with regards to horses in training. He's been amazing for connections.

We can discuss the weather as much as we like but at best it’s going to be GS right? I would probably be against UDS on good ground but anything better and he’s deservedly favourite for me (given the horses that won’t run)
