3 weeks tomorrow Goosebumps starting.

You traveling down on the Tuesday Jim?

If so, gates open early (10:30 I think). I'd aim to get there by 09:30, park at the racecourse and try and be one of the first ones on to the course. There's plenty to see.

Yeah ive got a couple hours drive so aiming to be there for a reasonable time! Thanks

For what it’s worth, Jockey Club managed to balls up my tickets last year so I had to go to the course on the Monday to resolve, actually turned out to be a good experience as there was plenty of activity and a number of horses being walked around the placed, if you are going, at a complete loose end and couldn’t cope with 5 days on the beer, you’ll have worse days if you take an hour or two on course...

Does anyone here , ever go out to the centre of the course , when the Cross country race is run ?? , Done that a few times ,
and Right up close to the action .

Yea but only once. A real pain to get back for the next race. And also embaressingly pushed the rail out by leaning on it as I was watching the race by the cheese wedges.

I did this last year and didn't enjoy it. I couldn't really see much other than when they came past us and couldn't see the big screen, or hear the commentary very well.

I'll be watching CoC from the stands this year.

:highly_amused: similar to the photographer at Aintree last season?

Yeh did it last year. I thought it was overrated and i say that having won 600 quid on Cause of Causes, so definitely wont be doing it again

I generally find myself at a loose end at some point so do wander out there, I watch more than just the XC from there.
If heading out for the XC the majority head for the cheese wedges but go further afield, there's a great spot just the other side of the water jump where the course intersects.
Well worth doing, even if just the once....

I did on Trials day last year, went for the cheese wedges and as FM said you cant see or hear much

Can't wait, banging on the gate and in the centaur by 10.40. Fingers crossed for another profitable festival. 19 winners two years ago and 17 last year. Would be happy with double figures this year. Does anyone have a number of winners they aim for?

Yeah I get disappoined with less than 20 too...

I had 3 winners last year and came out 150pts up

Can’t say I’m greedy lads.. one decent winner a day I budget for.

I’ve been fairly lucky of recent years with 2016 being a cracker.

28:devilish:
Half?

I aim to make money from each and every race to be honest ... which usually equates to winners

Not numbers of winners no, but I aim to, at the very least, break even, that way I see it that I have had a fantastic time in the build up, the following of horses, races etc.... and come away from it unscathed.

Of course, I always aspire to achieve nice profit too, but having been playing this game for many years now the reality is that it is not quite as simple as that sounds.

I have a similar goal CoD. If I break even im happy. The best week of the year and if I dont lose im happy

There was a time where if I hit three winners over the old three days. In those days, it was one horse in every race. In believe it was 2014 when I decided to give it a good old go and really do my homework, as well as my outlay increasing tenfold. It didn't work for the first year, but the last three have been incredible to be honest. I realise my luck can't continue and a bad year is due, but I can't cope with that, as money isn't everything for me. As long as I can cover my four tickets and expenses, then I'm fine, but picking winners at the festival means everything to me. The rest of the year doesn't come close. In is definitely my week of the year, one for the horses, one for the socialising and finally one for leaving her in doors, in doors...

That is what happens when u send from a crappy mobile. Appauling grammar, etc, etc......
