Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle 2018

Henderson has said that On The Blind side doesn't go three miles because he got sore shins running downhill over the trip. I must be missing something but isn't the shorter trip undulating as well? The difference being they will be going faster.

Was referencing he DID have.
And down the hill backed off as was experiencing pain.

Mr Whipped will run in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle - despite suffering and odds-on reversal at Musselburgh on Sunday.

Henderson said: "I think I ran Mr Whipped back to soon and my conclusion was that he was a bit flat.

Have had to add Santini to my book for the Albert Bartlett at 10/1. The way Henderson talks about this horse, the form of his win the last day, and promise of more improvement on better ground mean I couldn’t have him unbacked. The only thing keeping his price at 10s is the fact that his participation appeared in doubt... some bookies have been slow to react that Henderson has all but confirmed he’ll be heading there. Likely to go off half the price imo.

That’s me done with this race now - Cracking Smart, Next Destination, Santini, Poetic Rhythm, Paisley Park, Ballyward and Ravenhill Road (in the bin). Hoping I’ll have the winner there

Do you think ND turns up here? Or is Mullins leading towards Ballymore?

Nothing really been said regarding exact target.

Exchanges been pointing towards here for quite some time now though.

How much store do you guys put into old v new course form?

Ballymore run on the old and Albert B on the new....quite a bit of difference between the courses when it comes to hurdle races..

On a note, Santini's latest form was on the new course too...

I would think this is his least likely target. Ballymore 50% chance, Supreme 30%, Bartlett 20% how i'd see it. Seems to be have enough speed for shorter and Mullins has mentioned that

Agree with you on the Ballymore, but i do think 2nd choice would be the A/B rather than the Supreme...
Purely on his Dams side...not sure how much relevance i put on breeding for these novices yet but i do think owners and trainers do when it comes to decisions...predominatly 3m and even 4milers in the family...

Think it will come down to a trainer vs owner battle. Mullins will probably want Getabird supreme and Next Destination Ballymore as they would be his two best chances in those two races, but you wonder if the owner of Next Destination might want to avoid Samcro. Unless you see Samcro being beat (and i don't see how anyone could have confidence in that) then I would give ND a better chance of winning either the Bartlett or Supreme than the Ballymore

Honestly they won't duck samcro, they were declared to take him on last time out with ND before samcro side stepped it. . If ND dosent go ballymore its because they have something else in his place that ruby wants to ride.
There form is very simular just different styles.

ND isn't sharjah or real steel.

On form I agree that Samcro and ND are at similar levels so far, but you've got to consider potential, whether a horse is likely to improve, the way they travel into a race, and whether they've been asked for maximum effort. I think Samcro has a lot more in hand on Next Destination than the form book suggests, and hope they do match up next month so he can prove that. Next Destination is just better than Cracking Smart over 20f, beating him 5 lengths and 1 length. The yard obviously think Samcro is quite a bit better than Cracking Smart, look at the way the yard have spoken about him since day 1... Samcro by 4/5 lengths for me if they meet in the Ballymore

Vinndication looked very good just then.

Took 33s this morning on vcbet.

Done the same myself except at 25s nrnb with pp also backed western Ryder and Mr one more for the ballymore with 365 before the race knowing I could cash out if they bombed out (like Mr one more did). But back to vindication it's hard not to like him, winning over 2.5 miles by just galloping the others into submission looks like the step up to 3 miles will suit.

Would be perfect and he would have a live chance.

Glad I got on. Thanks to whoever mentioned him originally as I put him in my notes.

Nice performance from Vindication alright lads, word of warning Kim Bailey seemed to think the Ballymore was the direction he might send him down if heading to Cheltenham

"Temptations are there to be put in front of you and refused on occasions. He has got the two entries (in the Ballymore and the Albert Bartlett). I wouldn't think he will go three miles. We will let Red River do that one.

"It is all very well stepping up to three miles but that would have taught us nothing.

Glad I'm on at nrnb after that news then. Thanks for the update.

Vindication’s win today franked the form of an outside fancy of mine from Fergal O’Briens stable “Coolanly” not sure if he’ll head here or down the handicap route or the festival at all. Anyone hear anything at all about potential plans?b

PP have gone 3/1 for Next Destination for this race now and pushed Cracking Smart out to 6/1.

Good spot although not suprised based on the prices available for ND on the exchange over the last couple of weeks for the Ballymore. Very pleased if this is the decision, mainly as I see him as the biggest danger to Samcro for the Ballymore. Was going to back him for that if confirmed, but would prefer not to have to :)

This would indeed tie in with both Betfair & PP shortening Samcro for the Ballymore today too!
