What my chelt bets are and what I'd back today at the prices with free money would differ.

I wasn't going to have a bet today but I can't resist the price of Faugheen. He may bomb out completely but the sounds coming out of the stable are that he's A1. We'll know after two hurdles if he isn't at it.

He's my only racing bet today at 5/4.

Footpad, Yorkhill, Blast of Koeman and Rapid Escape would be other selections.

I am not a big punter (I can't afford to be) and I usually make a hash of the shorties in any case.

I have to be very pleased with three returns out of four. The thinking on the first one was that I liked that Leopardstown maiden; I am always looking for horses to improve for ditching Geraghty and most of all I thought he was much too big relative to the others.

As for ante post. I thought Buveur D'Air would win the Champion Hurdle before today and still do; slightly more concerned about Footpad but probably more concerned that Sceau Royal will not finish second and mystified by the riding tactics on Minds Eye.

I have added Tully East (12/1) and Santini (10/1) today. It was an ordinary race but Robin Waters gave the Santini form a little boost at Wetherby and I do like horses with course form.
