Cheltenham Bumper 2018

Unbelievable turn of foot. Not sure that the Ascot win was the fastest race, so the question mark is whether what is bound to be a fast run bumper blunts his finishing kick. Might be one to go on in race as if he’s towards the front end coming to the last couple and still on the bridle watch him go

A la fayonagh last year

I’m on Hollowgraphic at 12s and there hasn’t been a horse that’s had me worried before or after him.

He looks far better than anything else I’ve seen this season.

Bit of a statement that. Hollowgraphic beat Boot Camp 7 lengths, Blackbow beat the same horse 11 lengths. Plenty of time between those two races but suggests that Blackbow is a very decent horse in his own right. ‘He looks far better than anything else I’ve seen this season’ - didtheyleaveuoutto was far more visually taking with the way he travelled and turn of foot in both his races. The form might not be up there with the Irish form, time will tell

After the comments today, it is a little surprising to see PP 20/1 NRNB and BFSB 25/1 about Blackbow... 16's NRNB with 365/Sky

What price was he before he ran?

I got some 25s after the race, assume that his price is holding up just because Hollowgraphic is Mullins’ perceived number 1 for the race. Does that mean Ruby might be on Blackbow?

Carefully selected in the mix as well I guess

He wasn't quoted.
Does he run in the same grade 2 as hollowgraphic. Does 1 go and the other straight to chelt..... I don't know the answer but could be factored into that 25s.
I do like him though he's not the "sexy" horse but I liked the horses around him last time, i really liked his attitude. I liked everything about his run.
I just thought it was an all round very good performance.

Perhaps. Perhaps the "unsexy" owner too?

Not sure. Looks a nice horse.

We bought him at the sales in Cheltenham after Katie Walsh recommended him highly to us. She was right and we're very pleased it worked out,” said Mullins.

“He looks an out-and-out stayer as they went a huge gallop.

“I have to give him a crack at a winners bumper rather than go hurdling now and chasing next year.

“He could be an Albert Bartlett horse for next year. That's the sort of road I'd be aiming at.

“There were a lot of fancied horses there and he made them look ordinary. He gallops all day and he's not the slowest horse either. I was very pleased with him.”

The name of the ownership group and the colours probably yes. Let's be honest on that run, if that was the name "stay humble". And in the colours of mr wylie. He wouldn't be 25/1 .

I guess the form of the goffs bumper can’t really be doubted. You can put Blackbow there or thereabouts on collateral form but Hollowgraphic may have improved a lot over the summer

Be surprised if they send him for it on those comments. An out and out stayer would be outpaced surely in that cheltenham bumper

Agreed. :)

I suppose the same could have been said about Hollowgraphic though ... without Patrick mentioning him on ATR/On The Line?

Agree though!

Not really as you've seen him in the goffs landrover. And mullins put him in the main part of his racing post stable tour. I bet a few people have bets on what he writes there. Or atleast follow them.

I do recall you mentioning Blackbow as your alternative, certainly sounds like they're the top 2 so far

I hope you're right FM - running out of time though...

The only thing that is helping me cling on to hope is that Battleford didn’t race until the end of the month

Dorrels pierji (sullivan)
Stay humble ( wylie )
aione ( ricci )
Wylies home bred " AMEN CORNER" ( the masters syndicate)

Would all need a run beforehand. Theres obviously time but not much for all. There's been loads of suitable races if they were ready

Perhaps it is a bold statement you’re right.

Even if I hadn’t had a bet at 12s, I think i would take the 8s on hollowgraohic even now. The fact that Patrick Mullins believes he’s a fantastic horse and that he’s been excellent at home, makes me like him even more. He was asked on on the line a few days before his last race, what horse is he most looking forward to riding this season. His answer was Hollowgraphic.

That’s a bold statement in itself.

Fair one. Hoping it’s didtheyleaveuoutto vs hollowgraphic as the best of the English and Irish as they’re my two biggest winners. Got on the latter at 33s thanks to some discussion on here, not sure I’d be taking 8s now as it’s traditionally a trappy race (and one in which I’ve never had the winner)

Locker room talk finally gets a run today.
Not one for this race but gives you a view of stay humble.
