National Hunt Chase (4 miler) 2018

Impulsive Star was off the bridle on both circuits and despoite losing put in a fantastic late run after beaing left after the last fence.... didn't have Sam Waley-Cohen on today which surprised me, but I am actually really pleased with that run. Still 33/1 which I think is fair. The race has been won by some nice staying types - Premier Bond, Definitely Red, Straidnahanna in the last 3 years.

Must be a chance that they go Kim Muir though?!

Just came to post pretty much the same thing that run screamed 4 miler to me and 33-1 is a fair price.

I've just topped up (but only to a total of 1pt e/w)

Elegant Escape now 14/1 from 20/s with BET365. Quite a move

Does Presenting Percy not worry any Elegant Escape fans, his effortless run last time out carrying top weight over 3m 5f on unsuitable soft ground impressed me big time and that coupled with his festival form has to be respected.

Hi Sean, I'm a big fan of Prsenting Percy, however not sure he will run in this though, might go RSA route, around the same price ante post for both races

Yeah it's 50/50 but he went up against Jury Duty & Shattered Love at Punchestown over 3m and just looked a little out of his comfort zone, he looks a dour stayer to me, the RSA is obviously the more prestigious prize but I think the 4 miler would suit him best

Yes. If Presenting Percy came here he'd be a justified fav IMO.

Elegant escape was a well made case and great value when jono put him up, but he's unlikely to be fav IMO

Yeah not much juice in PP's price now Kev, his run last time out just shocked me a little tbh he won on the bridle in ground he should have hated.

Certainly couldn't take the price now because the RSA must be a very serious consideration... luckily I had a little at 33/1 but I've been tempted by the 11/2 any race for PP...stopped myself so far

To me PP has every chance in the NH chase and very little chance of winning the RSA, have backed accordingly. Interesting to see how connections go

Hills have been 14-1 for E.Escape, for a while now. Interesting how not all the bookies adjust their prices at the same time .
Melon ch/h was stand out 25-1 with B.f for quite a while , O.T.B.side same for Al Bart 20-1.
And the 10-1 for Next dest B/more with coral was stand out till yesterday

The day when all books are the same price would be a very worrying day. The art of taking a traders view and bookmaking will have completely gone

I fear that day is getting closer.

Does anyone here ever go to racecourses ?

I go 5/6 times a month and it's incredible how you can stand in a ring of 20 bookies and they will all have the same prices, this in a cold wet windy winters day at Plumpton or Wincanton or Ludlow.
They all plug their boards into Betfair and the machine sets the price, no variation, just dull....

I go a couple of times a month Ista. Totally agree. Don't even bother with the ring oncourse whenever I go now. Just use my phone. Sad times. Used to love the buzz of the ring, even at the smaller meets.

I thought it was interesting how differently the reaction was to ND today. VC went from 6/1 to 4/1 for the AB and Paddy went 4/1 to 7/1. Be a sad day if these differences of opinion don't remain.

I was at Newbury for Challow Hurdle day and it was ridiculous the excitement generated when you spotted 7/2 when everyone else was 3s
