Cheltenham Gold Cup 2018

Tizzards out of their depth at times , Colin is a farmer , playing at the top table , he interviews occasionally like he doesnt know what he talking about . Reckon his son wont be long before he takes over , harsh but fair , its just my opinion.

When a son takes over its not always for the best look at the Pipes !!! And whats wrong with farmers?

I think Colin Tizzard is out of his depth but since Joe retired from riding their horses have improved and they have getting higher standard horses

Has anyone on the forum got Sizing John backed? I haven't .... but I kinda wish I had... as if I was being flippant and slightly negative.....

Next in the market is Might Bite, who you're relying on NOT wandering up the hill like he has BOTH times he has raced at Cheltenham.

Yorkhill, target not confirmed and doesn't do anything in front.... so would need THE perfect ride to beat him? No form in open company yet.

Bristol De Mai needs heavy ground

Thistlecrack not the same after injury

Native River - held on last years form and yet to reappear, whereas SJ has reappeared looking as good as last season.

Our Duke - flopped on reappearance, excuses sure, but needs to bounce back...

Whisper always finds one too good, and Sizing John is too good.

Disko - Not rated high enough yet to worry about

Djakadam - well held on last years form AND his reappearance

Road To Respect - isn't good enough.

Coney Island - Not rated high enough yet to worry about

Min? haha, why is Min quoted.

Monella Rocco - well held last year and in complete contrast to SJ, has been rubbish this season

Total Recall - is not rated high enough to be a factor

Blaklion - is going for the GN

UDS - shouldn't be quoted

Coneygree - is broken

Cue Card - :highly_amused:

I have SJ backed as part of a book no fancy price but he never was.

SJ 6/1
Min 95.0 :highly_amused:
MB 8/1
FN 50.0
Top Notch 240.0 avg
Disko 29.0
Coney island 47.0
Thistle crack 12/1

That's basically everything I fancy. Bar min with yesterdays news.

Also have all bar SJ TC and disko covered for Ryanair.
And of course min for qmcc.

Scooby,
No Our Duke???? that could be costly.

Not for me I should have backed him at 33s when I fancied him after missing the rsa last year. But quietly glad I diddnt now. I can't have him at all now. Coming off a kissing spine operation and a horrendous run when scoping dirty. Has it all to prove now and that's not factored into his price for me. He went a silly price after winning a handicap all be it of top weight. Plenty of pace on in the gold cup he will find it hard to lay up near them I can see a very simular run to minella Rocco. And that's if he dosent make a clanger trying to get back into the race

Fwiw I don't fancy Coney island either. He's a Ryanair horse for me. But the Lexus not too deep should show up well enough. And was a fair price. Have him well covered for Ryanair at 85.0 avg.

I wouldn’t discount Minella Rocco, if you judged the horse on his Winter form then he’s be battling class 4 handicaps round Ludlow (no offence to Ludlow), he only wakes up in February and was under 3l behind Sizing John last season.
He wouldn’t be high on anyone’s list but I’m not ignoring him completely...

Would he get close enough turning in to go for the win? Him and our duke id say not.

I've got a sneak that last seasons renewal wasn't quite the stamina test of previous seasons so won't have played to MRs strengths.
I know times don't always tell the entire story but 6:36 for a good ground Gold Cup, same ground the previous year was 2 secs quicker, it's only a hunch but certainly the quicker they go the more it will suit MR.
There will be worse 33/1 shots on the AP books...

Nothing wrong with backing your own judgement. Good luck :)

Evening Kev, yes I am well in on Sizing john ., but not as well in as i am on Might bite ,. decent bet on Minella rocco,
then small bets on a few others . un temps pour tout , whisper , R to Respect
Disko ,Single.f.p ???., and Bellshill:highly_amused:.

Thought they made a hash of the tactics on Native River. Instead of going the relentless gallops of the HGC and WN they got suckered into thinking he was a horse with gears when winning the Aon. Gold Cup was slowly run until the top of the hill when Johnson pressed the accelerator and started asking Native for big leaps and he kept putting down on him.

Sizing John and Native River my two at the moment but can see the case for Minella Rocco as well.

Glad people are on Sizing John.

I don't feel he's ever been a backable price in terms of value, the bookies have kept him on-side... but that looks incredibly well justified at this stage.

Will struggle to get him in my book I think now... for a decent profit at least.

Well I loved that from Coney Island.... form not going to be literally good enough but the class edge and I thought it was brilliant. Really really pleased to be on at the big prices (50s) that we're highlighted in here by a few people early on!

They don't seem that keen on RUK although that is because he's been cut to 10/1 haha

I was very taken with that too. 20/1 still available with William Hill for the Gold Cup.

I'd take that today if I wasn't already on. Shouldn't be a bigger price than Disko

Very impressive by Coney Island there, I never managed to get on at 50 like some, but happy enough to get 33s.

Yeh he was good 48.0 GC that or Ryanair 80.0 will do me. He will go up to 3 but he could easily go very well in a Ryanair.
