Newbury then possibly the Welsh National.

He wants 3 miles left-handed on soft ground so two and a half on good to soft right-handed wasn't a perfect prep race and only gone there because Aintree was off for the Old Roan.

22k for a racecourse gallop is decent business with the added bonus that I think that he runs at Newbury off last week's mark with no penalty for today.
Still think that will be too much to ask if they want him to be a GC horse in March. Reckon the Cotswold or Denman chase then the GC would be the ideal route. Keep him fresh.

I own a small share in Wendigo and the plan from what I have seen and heard has been set out as Hennessey, Welsh National, Grand National.

Thanks for confirming. At least we don't have to worry about him re Festival talk. A very good horse taken out of the equation.

*Hang on a minute......

O’Farrell added: “Newbury should be right up his street, and he should be spot-on for it now. He is an exciting prospect for Aintree in the spring. I am only keeping the saddle warm for Gavin Sheehan (Wendigo’s regular jockey).

“He is a smashing horse with loads of scope, and you couldn’t have asked for more on his first run of the season. There are similarities with Many Clouds and Newbury and Aintree are two targets for him. Aintree should hold no fears for him if the ground was right as he can jump long and short.”

*If we are comparing to Many Clouds.....

He went Colin Parker, Hennessy, Cotswold, Gold Cup and GN......

Ummmmmm

AS with @Many Clouds I also own a small share and there has been no talk at all of the festival, plans can change but it's Newbury, Welsh National and the National at the moment.

According to race conditions, handicap is based on 27th October ratings with penalties for races won after 1st November. I think that weights are out on Wednesday so we'll soon know.
Snowdon did say afterwards that he hoped he wouldn't go up too much. Perhaps he was more thinking for races after the Hennessy

“You hope the handicapper doesn't react too much. You can only beat what's in front of you.”

Jukebox...

Pauling has his fingers crossed The Jukebox Man could make a return to action sooner than he originally anticipated.

The eight-year-old suffered a setback in September that delayed his season and the Naunton handler will not bring his Harry Redknapp-owned star back before he is ready.

The Jukebox Man produced a career best on Boxing Day last year when holding off Banbridge by a nose to win a pulsating renewal of the King George VI Chase, a second Grade One triumph after winning the Kauto Star Novices' Chase over the same course and distance the year before.

Last seen finishing eighth in the Gold Cup, The Jukebox Man is progressing well in his recovery, with spring targets very much on the agenda, but connections will tread carefully with him.

Pauling said: “He's good, we had a very positive vet report on him the other day so we'll make a decision in the next month about whether we bring him back for the end of November or not.

“It wasn't serious, but he's a big, heavy horse and I don't think he's a horse that we need to rush back unless we're 100 per cent happy, but it is all going very well.”

His latest update say's if the Handicapper over reacts they might consider the Betfair Chase.

Would be a mistake imo but it's a huge pot and always a tiny field so can see why they'd be tempted.
