Weekend Racing

Is the race worth a few quid Kev? I didn't think Chester would be the next course we'd see FT on!

Stall 1 at Chester is certainl factored in but 15/8 about the best horse with the plum draw, against some "course specialists" .... I guess you can look at it two ways, either huge value against the fav in saying the others have C form, or the opinion FT is just miles clear and he has never ridden at the track, so not a negative until proeven a negative.

I am not going tomorrow as HAydock is just as close and much better...

****been out tonight so will post in the morning... poor form I know**

Todays darts:

Hay 3.30 Harry Angel
Hay 4.05 Kachy

York 2.40 Harrison
York 3.50 Gamesome

Good 2.00 Spark Plug
Good 3.10 Top Score

Tricky day, rain kicking in at some point but no-one knows if ground at Hay/York will be good to firm or soft heavy in places, makes punting somewhat tough....

Kev/OV - lift this onto the new thread if you can.

I don't have a particularly strong opinion on today's racing but I've backed two. East Street Revue at York and Cotai Glory at Haydock. Small each way double too.

I've backed both of those today... and thought 12s about Take Cover was too big in the 4:05 at Haydock. RP nap though so price has gone now.

Couldn't decide whether to go to Chester or Haydock and decided I'll do neither because I want to back horses at all 6 meetings today! A few quick thoughts....

Chester -
1.55 Musical Terms If it wasn't in stall 9 I'd see it as a banker of the day along with Churchill and Harry Angel
3.05 Fastnet Tempest Although VERY short now IMO - but Franny Norton on board - he's sure to get a winner today
3.40 Energia Fox should be the obligatory Koukash winner....

Curragh -
Looking forward to watching the first race, Clemmie has Ryan Moore on board but could be a good race for the future (Churchill debut in this 12 months ago?)
3.00 - Aqabah Have backed this today in two trixies. Should be fav but for Harrington's form?
3.35 I haven't had a bet but very interested to watch Acapulco - I might back Suedios if the vibes are weak for Acapulco though as today isn't her day, although she'd want to be winning this if she was to win at Royal Ascot
4.10 - Churchill free money

Goodwood-
2.40 Billesdon Brook Had a double with this and Harry Angel, hope there isn't any market support for anything else in the race!
4.55 Pettochside I've just read Hugh Taylor's tip for him on ATR and that was good enough on a card where I couldn't really see much leaping out to back. 2.00 looks too close to call for example. GOod luck with Spark Plug though.

Haydock
2.20 - My Reward an each way shot to nothing... won the race last year, big target again.
2.55 - Private Mission Really liked his last run and the way he just kept knuckling down, if he's come on from that should be in the mix each way. Might have an EW double on these two.
3.30 - Harry Angel Surely is just way too good for these on the 2nd to Blue Point. I really like Second Thought, backed him LTO when he won but this is a step up
4.05 - Take Cover and Cotai GLory BAcked these two... Quiet Reflection no way unless its pouring and it isn't here...
5.40 - Chessman Frank Hickey advised the HArry Angel Chessman double and I can see the logic!

York - not got time to go through I'm running out of the door, but I hope The Sky Is Blazing doesn't win :devilish:

Where next for Fastener Tempest?

Royal Hunt Cup would be my preference over the Wokingham. He's almost certain to go off favourite in which ever race he runs in. The way he picked them off at Chester in the straight yesterday was unbelievable and he's a much better horse than his rating at the moment.

Said the exact same thing about Fastnet.... Franny Norton knows better than any jockey what NOT to do at Chester, and he did it anyway. Very 'ballsy' ride and to me just smacked of wanting to win by the smallest margin possible. There is a HUGE prize in him next time out?

L. 31 today. 1. tartini 2-00
2. laugh aloud
3. oh this is us
4. Boom the groom
5. cracksman all Epsom , just walking out the door . good luck players.

Tomorrow (technically today's) bets...

EW Yankee - Full Intention, Bateel, Mitchum Swagger, Juanito Chico (was going to be my only bet for the day....things escalated)

Trixie - Fantasy Keeper, Ajmaan Princess, Warrior's Spirit - Little bit of a hedging bet for the above)

Trixie - Awsaaf, Folk Tale, Firnas - Very keen on the first at Chester (I am going tomorrow/today) and Godoplhin have plenty of good chances at Newmarket, so hopefully get the right ones.... I do always like the look of a fav when they can't work out what the 2nd fav (or main challengers) should be, and I feel that is the case in Firnas' race...

Super Heinz
- Glorious Journey, Luqyaa, Son of Rest, Pocketfullofdreams, Modern Approach ,High Hopes, Cardsharp (Got a bit lazy in actully looking at the rest of the cards including Curragh and Beverley so did a very lazy multiple)

(Dascombe Day) EW Lucky 15
- Full Intention, Reflektor, Arc Royal, Calder Prince all at Haydock Purely based on his level profit stakes at this venue (highlighted on the RP podcast)

No bets for me this weekend. Saving my money for Royal Ascot now.

Building the Ascot bankroll :devilish:

I am not confident with any selections today really, and have too much on considering I won't be watching.... oh well, not like I have a wedding to pay for :highly_amused::rolleyes: - I am actually going to see about having laser eye surgery today ... new eyes in time for the wedding (August 12th) ... hopefully Boom the Groom is running that day.

Haha. I remember backing a horse named after my wife on our wedding day - it finished 2nd. Got a text from one of the lads when on my honeymoon and it had just won at 16/1. Typical. :sorrow:

I've just had a few goes at the Northumberland plate:

Sir Chauvelin 25/1, Seamour 6/1 and Natural Scenery 9/1 (all each way).

Good luck all.

I've had Natural Scenery, Jaameh both 6 places in the plate

Also had midweek bets on Home of the Brave 13/2 and Waldgiest 4/1

3 other multiples, expecting Grand Koontra, London Prize, Haddaf all to win.

Everything rolling on to Roger :highly_amused:

3. Queen of time - 3-00
4. Ulysses - 3-35

I'm still undecided between Decorated Knight each way or Barney Roy. On what Cliffs of Moher has done so far, he is the wrong favourite...but you do have to respect the inevitable AOB improvement factor for his horses run-to-run so I also wouldn't be shocked.

I'll probably back Barney Roy at 3/1 as I think his form is the best that we've seen and has the potential still to improve for the trip, albeit he is probably only trying it to make it easier to avoid Ribchester at Goodwood.

I can also see me getting tempted by Salouen each way at 66s / 50s because that is surely too big with excuses the last twice?

Everyone probably knows, and certainly if you listen to the RP Podcast, Kingscote is the man to follow at Haydock and he looks to have some really good chances today at each way prices.... Mister Maduro, Soldier in Action and of course Abingdon today which might be a cut above the others.

Haven't really got any strong fancies today, but Skybet paying 5 places in the 11 runner 13:50 makes it really hard not to back a few each way! Muthmir was 4th behind Lady Aurelia, Profitable and Marsha, with Alpha Delphini, Goldream, and a couple of others in behind, so I'll be amazed if he can't get in the top 5 in a weaker race!

Almoreb looks a solid each way bet against the fav in the 13:20 and you can see why Greenside is fav is the 14:25. Frontispiece in the last at Sandown looks a solid favourite to me.

Tentative Trixie Abingdon,Barney Roy,Frontispiece

I backed Barney Roy earlier in the week at 4/1. I think he should be favourite.

Today I've just done an ew Canadian.
Barney Roy 11/4
Mister Manduro 6/1
Hors De Combat 18/1
Big Country 15/2
Tis Marvellous 13/2

Good luck all.
