March ‘26 Yankee courtesy of @Quevega.

The highest rated hurdler who may go chasing next year is BDA…..even without the mares allowance

However connections have mentioned chasing as part of the plan for the last two seasons, yet have followed the hurdling route.

She appears to have maintained her form better this season and had a relatively successful season over hurdles so maybe the foundation is laid for chasing next year? She most certainly appears to have the build for a chaser.

Prices for the Arkle last year were 20/1 as many, including the bookmakers, felt that she would be better suited to the Mares Chase……which I never understood as she had delivered her highest rated performances over 2m and has done so again this season. Her price may have also included her supposed dislike for Cheltenham, which has maybe been laid to rest now?

She is currently 33/1 for the Arkle, which will be long gone when and if they announce chasing for next year…and if they target 2m.

Lots of IF’s but at 33/1 overpriced IMO

Henderson did say that Old Park Star is probably a chasing type and he has a good record of taking Supreme winners to the Arkle. I said in this season's novice hurdlers thread that he usually delivers when he has a good one and I think OPS is as safe a choice as you'll get this early.

….terrific post @Quevega, sounds like you’re not too far away;

Gaelic widely available at 4-1 GC
Lossie widely available at 3-1CH
Kargese widely available 10-1 CC

Which leaves the Arkle.

I was reading the pre-season stable tours earlier. I find them a useful reference to trainers long-term thoughts and ‘Hamster Face’ was mentioning the Arkle for Mydaddypaddy last October. It’s clearly a definite target and I got the impression they were a bit miffed at the interference on the run-in for Supreme.

I’m sure he’ll be popular in monthly Yankees through the summer, so I personally like the thought of taking a flyer on Mighty Park at 33-1 (only 16s with Hills). The vibes suggest he’s highly rated, Mullins called him ‘a real chasing type’ in November. I suppose the fear with MP is he goes BANC for which he’s shorter (a general 16s, PP offer 25s).

Mighty Park (Ark) returns 7,479-1 acca with target risk. The Mydaddypaddy safer option is 1539-1.

We get GW and Lossie onboard nice and early.

See what others think.

….Mighty Park Arkle or BANC bound, looks plenty shorter for BANC but ran in the Supreme over Turners. I think somebody posted that they see him as a 3m chaser but I might have that wrong.

Willie almost certain to run mighty park over 2 miles over fences to start with.
Then likely to be kept at that if effective enough
Only worry is his next run over hurdles !!
If he steps up in trip and wins then it becomes a bit iffy target wise as a chaser

Followed the Lossiemouth/Gaelic part of the bet, I'd have Kopek with a better prep beating Kargese so stuck him in instead, then stuck OPS in one bet & MDP in the other for the Arkle.
Great case made for all though Q, great work on the comp & hope benidorm left you a few pounds heavier round the waist & the wallet (y)

…..good point. I’d imagine he’ll run at Punchestown but that’s the end of next month and I’m not sure when we’ll see entries. I suppose Aintree is a possible but less likely.

Yeah
I think we’ll go with the solid option
And b365 look best priced 9-2 I think for old park star

So
Old park star 9-2
Lossie 3-1
Kargese 10-1
Gaelic warrior 4-1

Like the idea some might of perming them and we shouldn’t be afraid of keeping some of these in future yankees
Leaving solid ones in until they’re not anymore

Next months could chuck in Kopek in place of Kargese for example.
Don’t be put off if Lossie or Gaelic get beat and drift a bit
as the months pass. Just take the bigger prices and hope they stay sound. Both these look light on potential rivals right now.

The banc looked like it was for the speed horses and not gold cup types this year. And the novice hurdle division looks short of a star aside from old park.
He’d have won easier bar the mistake at the last I reckon

….good steer for future Yankees from Q. OPS is actually 5-1 Hills but I still think 365 offer best odds;

March Yankee courtesy of @Quevega
Old Park Star (Ark) 9/2
Lossiemouth (CH) 3-1
Kargese (CC) 10-1
Gaelic Warrior (GC) 4-1

1,209-1 Bet365.

….given the outcome of Diamond Geezer Competition, it would be great if @ComplyOrDie ’volunteers’ to run April wager with Aintree and Punchestown to consider?

Aye, good (long) post that. Agree with the approach as well. Get the solid ones involved. Actually already got the combinations with OPS but will add Kargese.

I'm actually away a lot of April, happy to do it or do May instead, and let someone else have a crack at April.

….great stuff, May sorted.

Just need a volunteer for April 🙏

@Quevega if this yankee turns a profit, I'll get some badges ordered

I'll do it, been a while since I had a crack at a Yankee, and my "rest" from NH is usually around about a week in June

Unless any of the top 3 from the comp want to

….much appreciated, Matey, I’ll set the thread up in the next few weeks.

Gaelic warrior should be in. Because he’s the GOAT.

That is all.

What about Jasmin de Vaux? Was popular on these threads this season for the stayers and I'm guessing that would be his target again next season?
Plus it seems a wide open division

I couldn't back Mighty Park ever again at Cheltenham, nothing there at all
