2017 Grand National

I'll look forward to having a beer with her at Chelt next year while you're looking after the kids....

:highly_amused:

Brillant bet - we will have to get her to do the festival yankee !

:highly_amused: don't joke Ista, she's been talking about going for a couple of years but i keep putting my foot down - that week is for the lads.

She does know her stuff to be fair

I hope this isn't going to be the start of a new trend , Getting the missus to pick your horses,
But , mine has just picked out for the G.N , 1. Pleasant company.
2. Highland lodge
3. Thunder and roses. . ( i'm gonna do the tricast !!!!??)... shhh. !

Get her to do two months of form studying, watching replays, reading preview evening reports and get her to write down 28 winners then leave her would be my advice....

To be fair it's great so many women are interested in racing but Cheltenham, and its' 65k spectators, is hard work if you have a wife in high heels hanging off your arm

Glad I put in all that effort researching Pendra/thank god for NRNB

I remember a few years ago , I took my Daughter to work with me , gave her a Racing post to read, and later that day, we went to Lingfield races , She had the first 4 winners then a 3rd , while i, eventually got a winner in the fifth race. she did very nicely that day I seem to recall.

My main bets for the Nash are:Vincente & Pleasant Company. Small bets: Thunder & Roses & Bishops Road.
I have to say I'm not that confident so have staked accordingly. Not a meeting I'm mad about.
Good luck to all today.

Cause of Causes was my main bet until the weekend - my wife put a £5 ew treble on ballet concerto 8/1, bravery 14/1 and Highland Lodge 33/1. First two have won and she is now waiting on Highland Lodge for £23,420. :highly_amused:

She missed out on BOG with Bravery because she placed the bet on Friday night with Corals and BOG only comes into effect on day of race with them - that'll cost £10k+ if HL wins, which has annoyed me somewhat!

Go on the LODGE !!!!!!!!!,

Making use of the bet365 offer, I've got:
Blaklion - win and ew
Vieux Lion Rouge - ew
Vicente - win
Saint Are - ew
Lord Windermere - ew

Also done the pub reverse forecast of Black Lion/Old Red Lion.

Ante post Cause of Causes (40/1) 1 pt ew
Don Poli *sigh*

More of that
Vieux lion Rouge.
Rogue angel
The young master
Vicente

I think I've got a free bet on perfect candidate too ...

Good luck everybody :)

Thought One For Arthur needed soft ground so ruled him out. Gutted for CoC - got a LOVELY ride. Not too far back and just crept in to it. What a fantastic horse.

Was Roi Des Frances the unluckiest horse yesterday? Ran a great race and got carried out by the loose horse disrupting his rhythm completely.
Even when watching it back I was still convinced my horse Blaklion was going to win when he went clear two out :sorrow:

I backed eight in the race and best I managed was 10th.
Roll on Punchy....

I backed 31 in the race and made £200 profit. :disgust:

I don't think many had One For Arthur on this forum, looking at the previous posts, pretty much sums up the last few weeks for myself and I am sure for some others, what with the disappointing Cheltenham Festival as well!

A similar repeat of the Champion Hurdle result for me, laid into JP runner for the National (CoC) @ big odds (40/1) and another 2nd place. Had the Tent (another JP runner) @ 50/1 for the CH, again 2nd! Close, but no cigar! Next time!

I will be using the same system next year.

I laid out a total of £900 in runners and £300 in non runners / losing doubles.

I backed half the field in the lead up in doubles and I took early prices with a couple of singles the minute the weights were released.
I then covered another 11 horses to cover my stakes the morning of the race (One For Arthur was one of them).

Max return 8k, min return £1400.

LR, by min return = £1,400. Do you mean no matter which horse won the National you'd have got back £1,400 or the min winnings of the ones you'd backed?
Either way £1,200 in bets seems a ballsy move for such an unpredictable race.
