2017 National Hunt Chase

From the preview nights tonight, Codd could switch rides from A Genie inabottle

I did see Noel Meade's quotes today on an update for AGIAB and there was no mention of Codd. I would have expected another mention of Codd definitely riding so could be true....

Also just looked back and Codd rode Tiger Roll in October at Cheltenham at the Showcase meeting. Completely passed me by that. Perhaps Elliott was hoping that might be the plan all along and he was giving Codd a sighter on the horse at the track...

Elliott had previously said on his stable tour (1st March)

Lisa O’Neill could well get the ride on him. She’s working very hard here and has been lucky for Gigginstown.

Also Mullins today:

I'm not sure where we'll run Arbre De Vie, the four-miler is a possibility

Wouldn't be surprising as he'll want to give Patrick a decent ride and Haymount doesn't look like 4 miles will suit.

Without Codd on Tiger Roll and his chase form make him VERY hard to fancy ..... hopefully spills the beans on the ATR preview tomorrow night!

Jamie Codd was one of the busier riders in action at Leopardstown's gallops and schooling morning on Monday, when his mounts included A Genie In Abottle, on whom he will bid for a second National Hunt Chase victory on Tuesday.

The Noel Meade-trained six-year-old is 11-2 favourite for the four-miler, and after schooling him Codd reported: "I'd never sat on him before, so it was good to get to know him with next week in mind. We popped a few fences and I let him stride on up the straight. I liked him."

Codd, who has notched five festival winners, added: "I'm expecting to have four rides next week. In addition to A Genie In Abottle, I ride Cause Of Causes in the cross-country chase and On The Fringe in the Foxhunter, and I might be on one of Gordon [Elliott]'s in the Kim Muir."

Thanks for that CCM. Were the quotes made today or yesterday do you know? Guessing yesterday straight after the schooling?

Watching last nights Final Furlong preview I was really hoping we'd get a definite ride from Codd in this, annoyingly we didn't. At the time I wouldn't of been overly confident in him riding AGIAB despite being finally pressed as saying it's his most likely option as I very much got the impression he has been waiting to see if something better comes along or should I say one he fancies more. He was very coy on the subject.

Sadly it didn't sound like he fancies Champers On Ice either though :disgust:

Still yet to back AGIAB for this. Missed the prices before the initial 'confirmation' by Meade late February that Codd was booked. If he does ride I will certainly play him on the day.

Hi jono. Yes yesterday after racing I believe. Its headlines on the RP site

Does anyone think American could go well in this race?

He has some decent form and i think could go close.

Looked through my multiples pre festival and realised that Champers on Ice in the 4 miler is in nearly 70% of them. Normally my darts are more erratic than that but I seemed to focus on CoI, this forums favourite bumper and Uxizandre

My understanding is he runs in the RSA as long as the ground is soft enough (in that or no where I think)

Noel Fehily at a preview last night on the RSA said:

NOEL: AMERICAN RUNS IF ITS A BIT SOFT. NEEDS TO IMPROVE ON WARIWCK RUN. NO REASON WHY HE CAN'T. CAN'T HAVE MIGHT BITE. JUMPING SHAKY. WOULDN'T PUT ANYONE OFF AMERICAN.

What's the vibe on Will Biddick as a jockey? He's been booked on Arpege D'Alene who is one of my e/e fancies for this. I know he's solid in hunter chases, but is he good enough to win this?

One of better ones for sure

Arpege D'Alene is dependant on what side of the bed he wakes up on. bit of a monkey

It appears that Champers on Ice will be heading for the NH Chase - who do we think will be in the saddle

Rodger Quinlan booked for champers apparently! Don't know anything abt him?

According to twitter he is a decent horseman, especially over fences, but i must admit i don't know much about him either.

Also rode alternatiff for same owners in Kim muir last year,
Vieux lion rouge didn't stay 4 mile last year, watch the race back and he gave it great ride and bar minella rocco he travelled almost best and looked massive danger
