I am off to the centaur on sunday. if i can find out my twitter account, i will either tweet updates and let you know, or write it up monday evening...

London Racing Club Cheltenham Festival Preview
Holiday Inn Kensington Forum, London SW7, March 9

The panel’s £50 Star Sports charity bets:

Lydia Hislop Djakadam (Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup, 9-2)

Phil Smith Ireland (BetBright Prestbury Cup, best price 4-1) :highly_amused:

Matt Tombs Squouateur (Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Handicap Chase, 11-1)

Lee Mottershead Ivanovich Gorbatov (Randox Health County Hurdle, 14-1)

The key quotes

“If you’re looking for a really wild one, Glaring could run a big race.”
Lydia Hislop likes a 66-1 shot in the festival opener, the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle

“It wouldn’t be at the back of my mind. It would be at the front of my mind.”
Matt Tombs makes clear he is worried about whether Might Bite’s horrible Kempton fall could impact on his performance in the RSA Chase

“The cross-country races are a great betting medium. They go round and round in ever-decreasing circles and weight tends not to be a huge factor. I think Urgent De Gregaine will confirm the January form.”
Matt Tombs predicts a French winner on Wednesday

“I’m with Yorkhill but partly because I don’t fancy anything else in the race.”
Qualified support for the JLT Novices’ Chase market leader from Matt Tombs

“I think on drying ground Un De Sceaux’s jumping isn’t that good. I would be against him for stamina reasons as well.”
Lydia Hislop is not tempted to back the Ryanair Chase favourite

“Altior at 1-3. Watch the race. Douvan at 1-3. Watch the race. Unowhatimeanharry at 5-4. Now that’s interesting. For me 5-4 is an absolute steal.”
Head of handicapping Phil Smith reckons the Sun Bets Stayers’ Hurdle is an attractive price

“If you give Philip Hobbs a top horse you know he’ll have him spot on for the big day. I think in Defi Du Seuil he has a very good horse.”
Phil Smith is a fan of the JCB Triumph Hurdle favourite and his trainer

“OMG!”
Lydia Hislop responds to Star Sports’ Martin Chapman suggesting Djakadam may have insufficient stamina to win the Gold Cup

“OMG!”
Lydia Hislop responds to Martin Chapman tipping Champagne West to win the Gold Cup

“To me it’s obvious – Djakadam.”
Lydia Hislop reveals her tip for the festival highlight

Tony Calvin likes Pingshou in the Supreme. Elgin will run confirmes Alan King. Nico will ride River Wylde adds Nicky Henderson.
Jamie Moore would ride Ballyandy if given the choice of them all.
Everything if fine with Altior says Nicky. Tony Calvin thinks Charbel is next best but concerned he pay for trying to race Altior.
Alan King thinks Cloudy Dream a good e/w bet. Malcom Jefferson is "a master at getting horses ready for The Festival"
"My horses are in better form than they were 12 months ago." says Alan King re Yanworth's chances this year.
Nicky: "Buveur D'Air really loves soft ground. Tent and Brain Power would prefer good ground".
Jamie Moore likes Yanworth in the Champion Hurdle.
Jamie Moore likes Americain in the RSA Chase.
Reminder that our Cheltenham Festival Preview Panel is live here: https://www.facebook.com/sandownpark/videos/10158424075800500/*…
"He's had seven weeks to get over (his latest run). Hopefully that will take the bounce factor out of it" Alan King on Uxizandre.
"I think Uxizandre is the horse we have to beat" Henderson on the Ryanair.
"33/1. That is attractive". says Nicky Henderson about Vaniteux in the Ryanair.
Nicky Henderson says drying ground means the "pendulum is swinging" towards Brain Power/My Tent Or Yours in the Champion Hurdle
Alan King likes Ballyoptic in the Stayers at 20/1.
"I'm not convinced about him" Nicky Henderson on Unowhatimeanharry
"We don't know what would have happened at Kempton, but I know what'll happen at Cheltenham. I love (Charli Parcs), he's very very good."
"I would love it to go good by Friday" Nicky discussing the Triumph. "I'm mad about Charli Parcs".
"Divin Bere is going somewhere else because I just think Charli Parcs is different class". Alan King is "worried about Nicky's eye-sight!!"
Alan King very keen on the chances of his mount. "I knew he was going to improve a hell of a lot" - on December defeat by Charli Parcs
"Defi Du Seuil reminds me of Katchit says Alan King".
Jamie Moore likes Defi Du Seuil for the Triumph but Master Blueyes won't be far away.
"Nicky can't be too nasty to me this evening because he needs a lift home" jokes Alan King.
At a massive price Tony Calvin has been backing Smad Place for the Gold Cup.
Henri Parry Morgan for Tony in the handicaps. Divin Bere has had his pallet done. Goes Fred Winter says Nicky

Nicky looked like he'd had a brandy or two:highly_amused::very_drunk:

Don't understand the reasoning behind confining previews to facebook. Plenty of older people follow the sport and they wouldn't care two hoots about facebook.

Ha, ha. Thanks for your concern, KB.

Is Facebook ( note the use of Caps ) closed off to the over 60s like me? Next week it's golf on Monday, then off to Chelts with the lads ( average age 60 ) in my BMW. All 5 of us use social media as and when we need it. Have great week.

If only all first posts were that good.

Congratulations on having a BMW.

Can believe they has a preview in Youghal without Davy.

I went to the Sandown preview yesterday and the comments above pretty much size it up.

What they don't convey though is just how keen Hendo was on Charli Parcs. I went to the same preview the year that Binocular won the CH after having problems, Hendo raved about that then, we all though 'naaaahhh' and it hosed up. He was exactly the same about Charli Parcs yesterday. Also surprisingly sweet on Vaniteux ew for the Ryanair.

King can't have Messire Des Obeaux out of the frame in the Neptune.

Hendo said Might Bite schooled better than ever 2 days ago, but does have a concern about the track.

Best laugh of the night - when AK said that "Chepstow is a sh*thole, a dreadful place, who the hell would want to go there - and on that basis forgave DDS his jumping in the Finale".

Luck mentioned that Ballyoptic has had a wind op.

Yorkshire from Thursday Night. Jim McGrath on it.
