2026 Novice Hurdlers

Rich had said he'd fancied a horse with Nicky again, and had been looking for the past year/18month i believe

Good from Sober Glory. I'd be surprised if they step him up in trip, which is a shame.

Yep. Back in the game. Clearly Sandown was all wrong for whatever reason. Boosts the Baron Noir and El Cairos form as well.

Aye was better than his last run, don’t think Skelton or It’s Top wanted to get near him though, even if they thought they could.

….Sober Glory cut into a general 33-1 Supreme.

Sober Glory 3.38s above standard on good-soft, not at all ridden out in the last furlong. That's a pretty decent time and confirms the visual impression. Let's see how the 2nd division goes time wise.

Not sure about that. Plenty said the same re his Chepstow demolition. Just think he was far too good for them.

The 2 jockeys weren’t doing much the whole home straight. Skelton got upsides the second fairly easily then done nothing to gain on Sober Glory.

He obviously is better, not denying that, but the distance will look exaggerated imo.

Very impressive Fire Warning, especially as I think there were 2 or 3 nice ones in behind. Looked a much better race than division 1, let's see what the clock says.

I wasn't overly impressed.

I was expecting many many lengths, he's beat a 120 rated horse by a couple. A far cry from what stablemate, Old Park Star has done.

At this stage of the season you'd want to be seeing more, IMO.

Makes me wonder whether the UK trainers have tweaked the way they do things? They seem to be doing much better with their novices this season.

beating the 2nd horse by that far doesn't scream Supreme winner, but who knows.

Nice performance from Fire Warning
Quite Green though and I would be concerned the festival might just be a bit soon for him.
Surely will have to have another run if that’s the plan.
Looks to me like he will be pretty good in time, hope so for connections with the amount of money they spent.

The commentator mentioned in the second division they had went slow, I’d say with the injection of pace fire warning would be better up in trip and when he did inject going to 3 out and then after the last he found plenty and was quick response.

First run over here so surely a lot more to come.

I tend to take official ratings for novice hurdlers in January with a pinch of salt. In division 1, only the winner even had a rating. Given it was his first run for the yard after a 105 day break I'd say it was a good performance, particularly the last couple of furlongs. Between 12-16/1 for the supreme. I'd want to see him run again before Cheltenham though, I assume he will come on plenty for that.

Bambino gets a win, but only bet the second similar to the last day.
The second looked to stop trying approaching the last.
However, the form of that first run is working out really well, so she looks a worthy Fav for now.

Nicky did say he could go 2 1/2 so perhaps he can go Turners with OPS Supreme
