2026 Champion Hurdle

It is a great round up and maybe Golden Ace e/w at 20/1 is the best option of the lot.

2/1 a place, chance of a repeat of last years carnage and you get 3 places for what could easily be a sub 8 runner race.

Do you not think with no stand out contender we might actually get a larger field? Last year showed you need to be in it to win it and with nobody expected to just turn up and win surely we get more people wanting to take there shot.

Lossiemouth holds the key to this race.
She runs imo it’s a small field.
If she don’t, it’s anyone’s guess as to how many might fancy a go!!

I can see machaevellin Willie toying with us right up to declaration stage. Will she, won't she for whatever race, the media left with the quote 'we're keeping all options open.'

…..maybe HDB has one eye on this;

Set to stay over the smaller obstacles this term is one of last season’s high-ranking novices, Workahead, who has been out of action since finishing last in the most recent running of the Supreme at Cheltenham.

He had previously accounted for Barry Connell’s Festival runner-up and Champion Hurdle hope William Munny during his novice hurdling campaign, with with De Bromhead confident he can showcase all his promise once back from a setback currently keeping him sidelined.

“He got hurt at Cheltenham and he’s back now and might run at Leopardstown, but it will probably come to soon,” said De Bromhead.

“His form is rock solid and he’s just had a niggle ever since we bought him so he’s a bit in and out. But if we can keep him right, he beat the Barry Connell horse who is rated 156.

“He would stay hurdling with his leg issues and the less jumping, it’s just trying to keep him right.”

Went out like a light in the supreme .... But if they are saying he got injured in the race then I guess he's worth another chance

Gordon confirms BDA being supplemented against Lossiemouth at Xmas

youd think thats unlikely if she's been supplemented for leopardstown though?

Yeah for sure if shes supplemented.

More just incase she was showing in ante markets and ppl going in heavy on her.

Does supplementing Brighter Days Ahead here mean he's already realised Woodoh isn't a Champion Hurdle horse and won't run her at Leopardstown?

I'd be thinking a fair race in ireland just to get its head in front myself then can look at the DRF or other bigger targets, sending him to the UK twice in quick succession will be tiring enough, thats without having two tough races as well, given its used to just lobbing round beating up inferior opposition, but what do I know.

Probably 'using him' to test the water for Lossiemouth!

If Anzadam gets beaten again it'll tell them nothing though, if he wins beating something like Nemean Lion they'd also have learnt nothing.
The only way they'd learn something is if Sir Gino ran, but he'd have more to prove than any hurdler in open company atm given we've no idea where he is fitness wise or if he's retained any ability,or appetite for racing, so beating him or losing to him...still be none the wiser on Anzadam or Lossiemouths chances.

Yeah, I'm more thinking Lossiemouths chances against Sir Gino should he run against Anzadam.

They'll likely have an idea at least where Lossiemouth stands against Anzadam.

I'm sure they don't want Sir Gino to have an easy time of it coasting round either. The track should suit Anzadam better than it would Lossiemouth and he needs more racing at this level.

I don't fancy sir Gino at all, his form over hurdles is nothing special and he hasn't ran in a year as he nearly died....I'll be going in big on something to beat him next week
