2026 Novice Chasers

OK. Decision taken. I've Cashed In on Derryhassen Paddy (BANC) for no loss. I've watched that Ayr Beginners Chase time and time again and I just can't get it out of my mind that he jumped like an absolute pig. I thought it when I watched it live and after watching if numerous times it just doesn't get any better. I'm out.

Probably more to do with Final Demand looking unbeatable??🤔

I don't think so. Final Demand did look very very good but I've bet others in the BANC and stuck with them. Just can't believe a horse that jumped as badly as DP can play catch up in 4 months and compete in the BANC. He was so poor. Maybe the Ultima or National Hunt might be better options. I just can't see him being competitive in the BANC.

Kiss Will out tomorrow in the 2m4 beginners chase at Fairyhouse with Townend on board.

On the radar for the novice handicap chase at Festival.

Kitzbuhel vs Kaid D'Authie vs James's Gate at Punchestown on Saturday,

Looks a belting beginners chase.

Really good race - i took some fancy prices on James' gate on BFX for the BANC as if he can keep the wheels on, you'd like to think he's got graded potential for sure.

Main concern with him is his fragility. Be 9 in January and raced just 7 times under rules.

Big prices on the exchanges are fair enough though (y)

Thurles next Thursday, Salvator Mundi & Kargese are both entered up.

A race which Willie has used previously, most notably unleashing Un De Sceaux, who unfortunately fell when well clear!

ROMEO COOLIO

The Drinmore is the plan for him all being well. He’s in good form, he looked very good in Down Royal and he always jumped a hurdle like he wanted a fence.

So Kargese and Jade De Grugy BOTH look to be going chasing this season……….bit different from the latest WM Stable Tours info…….

We’ve been “put away” again! 😂

You just cant believe a word the trainers say eh as “plans change”!🤪

He just said they'd be split didn't he ?

Mundi & Kargese blue in places for the Arkle.

Obviously doesn't come as much of a surprise, given the entries. Poor that an entry can create such an effect, mind.

Fully expecting SM to take up the entry at Thurles. Be surprised, given how keen she is, that Willie would send Kargese over 2m2f, which is more likely to suit SM.

Nope……one would go chasing and the other would stay hurdling……pretty clear
"Both mares are going to give me a bit of food for thought. Either could go over fences, both are big and strong enough. One is rated 150 and the other 152. They are good enough to stay for the Mares’ Hurdle too and I’ll probably send one over fences and keep the other over hurdles. I can make cases for either one going either way and until I get chance to talk to connections and see what they have in their head, I haven’t made a final decision yet. I’ll school them a bit more over fences, both are fine to jump and good enough and it’s nice to have mares coming along over fences."

Not totally clear????

Henderson said on Racing TV: “He’s fine, I didn’t see him out this morning it was an early start.

“Again, the sun completely ruined that as an education as much as a spectacle but he’s come out of that well.

“He’s a horse who is amazing. After the Triumph last year we had no intention of running him again and he was so fresh after it we were going to run him at Aintree, but that was too quick and we went to Punchestown.

“He loves everything. So if we can come back quickly we’d like to go to Sandown for the Henry VIII.

“He was very good all the way and pulling him up was the hardest bit. It was all very enjoyable until you got home and had to watch Kopek Des Bordes in Ireland! There’s nothing I can do about that, he looked very good too.

“It’s interesting that two Arkle protagonists came out within an hour of each other but so be it.

“It’s a long way away, but it looks like the plan for both of them. There’s a lot of water to go under the bridge between now and then. We’d like to go to Sandown but we’ll see.”
