Cogburn needs 3f never mind 5f.

That was ridiculous. Just set it up for everything else.

It looked a very stupid ride during the race and so it turned out. Must have used a ridiculous amount of energy the first half of the race, burn off Bradsell and then to push him more on the turn :glee:

Indeed, not just in a treble for the meet that’s down but a nice acca with Ballyburn and C Hill for Cheltenham :boxing:

Prat gave that some ride after being far back early on. Didn't panic and could tell coming round the bend he was gonna get it. City of Troy didn't get out, probably didn't like the dirt and just wasn't good enough.

Only backed Troy twice in his career.... Guess which races.. :glee:

Had a 20p Super Yankee on Breeders cup for something to watch. Had 3/3 before him. Want Notable Speech for a Yankee. Will pay for 2 beers at Cheltenham.
 
Had a lot of fun following the BC this year.

Thanks for all your input lads - couple of nice roll ups for festival and some fun throughout the mornings (catching up because I can't hack the late nights :highly_amused::highly_amused::highly_amused:)
 
Played my get out of jail free card last night. I rarely drink but always do on Breeders Cup night at my mates and we have a bet. Between us we backed every winner last year including a tasty treble but this year i couldn't pick my nose. Cogburn was so bad and the Godolphin runners were either poor or given poor rides. I was about -50% with a few races left and then step forward Full Serrano. An American woman on the Final Furlong Podcast was very very sweet on this dropping back in trip so yesterday morning i backed it e/w. Fast forward the day and i am about 15 Strongbows deep so what do i do? See the horse and back it in my drunken state forgetting that i already have so i end up with £25 ew on it and walk out of the day with a cool +£600 profit. The moral of the story is not to back anything antepost next year. It was a pointless exercise with only Thorpedo Anna coming home. Cogburn, Luxembourg, Notable Speech, Cnderella's Dream, the list goes on. The value was available all the way up to every race. Cheltenham Antepost it isn't. Lesson learned that won't be being repeated :emmersed::emmersed::emmersed:

Is it a pointless exercise if you’re beating SP though? I know plenty of people who had some and more of those mentioned at massive prices compared to their SP

Cogburn 5/1 > 4/5
Thorpedo Anna 8/1 > 2/5
Rebels Romance 14/1 > 19/10
Cinderellas Dream 16/1 > 13/5
Notable Speech 6/1 > 23/10

Run4Home being one of those.

Regardless of the outcome.
They were all bets that beat the SP considerably.
And doing so will in the long run be profitable.

Of those that didn’t come in.
A few hard luck stories in there too.

I actually think it’s one of the best meetings of the year to find value, if you know the patterns of races, trainers and what to look for, as the flat season progresses.

That said, I’ll certainly be far less confident about a 5f turf sprint out there next season :drunk:

Was just about to come on and say something similar.

Personally had a poor Breeders Cup, that said I mostly copy bets from here as it's not something I put a serious amount of time into, but had the following:

Cogburn 3/1 > EVS
Ecoro Sieg 11/2 > 5/2
Thought Process 16/1 > 5/1
East Avenue 5/2 > 2/1
Society 11/2 > 7/2
Shahryar 16/1 > 15/2
Forever Young 13/2 > 4/1
Notable Speech 4/1 > 13/8

I'd be lying if I wasn't sitting there after Notable Speech lost thinking 'you can shove your value up your arse' :highly_amused: but that's the game and a bit of time to reflect, this could have all gone the other way, especially seeing how well fancied some of them were.

Only winners I had was a small cover beat on Lake Victoria plus a couple of shorties I backed on the day, but nothing to write home about.

A few I had as E/W bets so these returned bits and pieces, but far from ideal.

On the plus side, I didn't fall into the City Of Troy trap. I had my doubts, though kept them to myself, as I wasn't overly confident either way.
 
Is it too early to blast this baby back open?

I have been trying to pinpoint potential O'Brien and English raiders through the season so far but can't hammer anything down. Fields Of Gold will be max bet if he goes over and Full Serrano will be absolutely getting backed for the Dirt Mile again if he goes back there after winning me a packed last season. He races very fast for a mile but wouldn't fancy him for the Classic. Working out where O'Brien's runners go in relation to The Arc Meeting and Breeders Cup Meeting is the trickiest. I fancy Minnie Hauk for the Arc and would back Jan Brughel wherever he went. He had no chance yesterday and could command a nice price. Desert Flower for Godolphin is worth a bet wherever she goes. Outside of her, Godolphin don't appear to have a strong hand this time, though from a price perspective, that could be a bonus.

Anybody got any early thoughts, any horses over here or the states that have taken your eye?
