I am not betting next year and haven't looked but i would be all over Final Demand for the BANC regardless of what happens in the week.

But surely between 4/1 (PP) and 5/1 (Unibet) isnt any sort of value?

I've had a point on Majborough at 25's for '26 Gold Cup. Thought that was OK.

Is that all he is. Wowsers. That is very possibly the worst Ante post price i have ever seen. I would have thought about 14/1

Im beginning to think next year could be my last. Found it hard to get into this year, prices were shit and even when OJA dropped onto my door mate it didnt help.
So could be my last but will still follow, just in case theres something to good to be true.

Bookies are definitely taking no chances with the prices that’s for sure. What’s the best way to try stop ante post bettors? . Offer shitty prices. There’ll always be enough people to take them though. 4-1 for a race 370 days away? No thanks

I will be keeping an eye on the bookie behaviour throughout the year just to see where he punters stand. The bookies are the only reason. Bad prices i can just about live with, as we know, there are ways of boosting prices and finding gems but i have a feeling next year (if not this) it is going to be very tricky getting any winnings out of them. They have skinned the cat down to the tail and are stretching every rule there is to prevent you form winning and collecting.

Edit :- They also contradict their own rules frequently. The affordability bollocks is just that, bollocks. I could walk down to the bookies tomorrow with £50, it could be my last £50 for all they know that will put fuel in my car and get me to work for the week and get some bread and ham to at least feed me for the week. I could go down and put it on a horse and it loses, i walk out and they couldn't care less. No food and work for a week leading to more loss. Flip that around if the horse wins and i get £500 back they can then decide that collecting the £500 is somehow going to damage me as opposed to losing everything. All hypothetical, but that is how it's going and i don't like it.

Impressive if you get a 6 year old runner of the Gold Cup

All he has to do, is win the Arkle, stay sound, prove it in open company, not get split by JP and defeat potentially a 3-time Gold Cup horse

I'm amazed 2026 markets are on page 3 ... what are you all doing? Try and find some winners this coming week and stop trying to snaffle a fiver on something just to show off about the price. No-one who takes this seriously unless they're a full time book builder should be on this page.

You're all fucking nuts :love_heart:

....just off to check the betfair 2026 markets instead of working out the Plate winner :culpability:

When you consider Monkfish was 10/1 after winning the AB, it is somewhat surreal to think The Yellow Clay at 12/1 is decent

I'm afraid the game is gone...

Ante post isn't the same anymore, there is no factor "50" or any sunscreen to protect that the horse will even show up next year! For example Sir Gino Arkle chase 2025, 8/1, im on a good one here, bamg some infection hes outta here!

Last years Turners winner Grey Dawning, i think good ew shout in Gold Cup, 50/1, you will do me! Brighterdaysahead 10/1 Mares hurdle yes please! (I WOULD LIKE TO GO ON RECORD, IM 100% BEHIND HER GOING CH, NO MATTER MY FINICAIAL POSITION, GREAT FOR SPORT!) Lossie and connections if you do what i think, shame and take the buckets of shite over your heads!

I'm gitty, 3 more sleeps, ignore me, I'm just talking to myself and talking myself out of backing anything 2026, this time last year I'd those I mentioned and a few other this stage...

Good luck peeps xoxo

I'm all in on Kopeck Des Bordes being a Champion Hurdle horse. I don't think Willie will win it this year. BDA will go chasing. And Constitution Hill will be 9. Willie will be looking for a new challenger. The manner of his DRF win reminded me of Faugheen. I really think he could be kept over hurdles. I have been getting what I can on the 16/1 double with Paddy Power over the last couple of weeks.

I’d be reasonably confident Kopek will be going chasing next season.

Willie has intimidated it in a few subtle sound bites, and the interview in todays Racing Post with the owners he’s quoted as saying ‘he’ll be electric over a fence’.

We’ll see of course, but the chasing route is very probable I would suggest.

Definitely have to be a lot more selective now than a few years ago

personally i dont think you can bet antepost in every graded race anymore

The prices in the championship races (bar the ryanair) are incredibly short from the get go on the ones that you aren't taking a huge leap of faith on

The bartlett, bumper and triumph are so tough theres no point bothering

The novice hurdles the prices are so tight you have to be very selective and hope you time the bet correctly on the right one.

They slash prices so much you almost have no choice to back horses for novice hurdles and chases before you've seen them jump if the horse is with a top stable.

Their really aren't that many attackable races anymore

Especially since the turners, NHC and cross country are now handicaps

So you have to be very crafty and time it right to get a proper value bet on.

A bit disappointed that all i could find for jonbon ryanair next year is 12s, if Marj wins the Arkle i could see jp wanting jonbon and him split and i could see nicky agreeing as he'd want sir gino jonbon split too. Plus Jonbon would be 10 and nicky already knows he stays....

I'm a bit disappointed that you think the QMCC favourite would not be in the QMCC because of the reasons above :triumphant:

You're wanting a price about Jonbon for the Ryanair 2026, when Cheltenham 2025 is this week :boxing:

It's bananas stuff - whatever price you'd get...you can find something that good this week I am certain of it... what price did you hope for?

I'm trying to work it out ....what do you need to happen?

Sir Gino come back from injury and be amazing next year .... Majborough to win the Arkle, stay sounds and also be amazing all next year, and Jonbon to what, win the QMCC this year...but not defend it? .... or not win it this year .... so he'd be a bigger price anyway than you'd be hoping for

:love_heart: all in my humble opinion of course, not meaning to be rude... I've had a beer :very_drunk: :ambivalence: :amen:

I think Maj will be stepped up in distance next season.
Jonbon possibly might be as well, have a feeling they may go for the King George, but probably depends on how Sir Gino recovers.

I have played a few here for next season, but the one that stands out the most to me is Kopek Des Bordes, but not for the Arkle or the Champion Hurdle, but the BANC.

You'll need to stay with me here, as to why I think this is a bet, but here it goes.

Firstly, what Willie has said. The first stable tour we had on the forum from Willie he said the following of Kopek Des Bordes - "A real chasing type for next season, but will spend this season in novice hurdles. He was impressive in the manner he won at Fairyhouse and, although he's by No Risk At All, I would imagine staying will be his game. He's one to look forward to."

Now to take Willie at face value, for me at least, as diminished somewhat, but I do agree with how he looks, he looks chasing materials, so for that I would be discounting the Champion Hurdle, unless he's ends up not being able to jump a fence of course.

Secondly, Kopek Des Bordes is bred to actually be more of an intermediate/staying type too, being out of a Cadoudal mare, Cadoudal himself producing the likes of Long Run, Big Bucks, Lacdoudal plus others, and the dam producing her three best horses (outside of Kopek Des Bordes) recording their best RPR's between 2m6f & 3m2f, leaves plenty of scope for improvement for a step up in trip, IMO.

He may not need a step up in trip and he may just be that good over 2m over a fence that that is where he remains.

Thirdly, Final Demand aside, Willie is looking like having plenty more options over 2m for next season already, as opposed to the 3m division, Kopek may just be that good that he can turn up and win whichever race he likes, pretty much doing a Ballyburn.

Lastly, despite having Final Demand, I wouldn't be as keen on him just yet for the BANC, as others seem to be. I think he's vulnerable in the Turners. I also think he could turn out to be ground dependent, when up in class.

Kopek Des Bordes is a 40/1 shot for the BANC, I think this is worth taking before he runs in the Supreme. Win or lose it's probably going to get cut. Wins and it will naturally be shortened, loses and the cries of needing a step up in trip may be heard.

Has a horse running in the supreme with a hood on ever run in the BANC the season after?

Probably not.

I don't think many go Supreme straight to BANC to be honest. Shaneshill did, but he was beat in the Supreme.

Now the intermediate race is out of the equation though it's got me thinking a little outside the box.

Regardless of what happens in the Turners, I'd say Final Demand is only going up in trip next season over fences. KDB will be an interesting one as it's a case of the eye test versus the pedigree. On paper you'd certainly not rule out the BANC but he's showing the sort of speed and keenness right now that would usually see him stick to the minimum trip, regardless of discipline.

My shortlist for next season begins early in this season so I am one of those bonkers people looking ahead all the time. As I'm barely betting these days and not in it for financial gain, the challenge to myself is trying to find the next superstars early on and that's what I take pride in these days. Both those mentioned above were horses I drove the train for from an early stage and whilst I will win nothing from either, I'll give myself a little pat on the back that I'm able to spot the odd good thing from time to time. Not quite the dick swinging levels that darlojim is going to perform if his KDM coup comes in though :biggrin-new:
