Cheltenham 2017 Antepost Bets

Skybet have this up on their site:
All bets placed on Thistlecrack after 5pm on 19th Jan will be refunded as per our Non-Runner No Bet offer. Bets before this date will be settled under antepost rules. More info about Antepost rules click here

They should all be a flat no. We know the risks. :devilish:

Couldn't agree more. One of my hates is punters asking for refunds. Everyone knows the risks so why expect a refund. Then punters complain ante post betting is dead - this is part of the reason!

Add another +1 to these shouts.

If bookies followed the rules on antepost without these little publicity stunts and kept it how it should in that the punter loses their money then we may say bigger prices early on/throughout the season. No wonder prices are shorter year on year if the risk of them turning up is no longer applicable.

Melon, UNWIMH, DDS and Thistlecrack all to place 16/1 with Skybet, huge price I think. Chucked a couple of pts on it

For those of you who were on this special. I just spoke with online chat and they have said that the bet "will be settled at an enhanced price on the remaining selections dependent on the SP come race time"

I thought it was dead so still something.

Just did the same thing before reading this. I asked further about the enhanced odds and got this in reply:

Originally it will settle on the price of the horses to place at the start of the races. Then as it was a price boost they will push it up a point

I have bet DDS for the Triumph. It's thought he may need a bit of cut in and as such I've read they may want to go the Supreme if there is a dry run up to the Festival (on account of how the course is watered).
Went to cover my bet but saw the NRNB odds were fairly meagre.
Surely if DDS went to Supreme, then CP would go Triumph?
Just backed that double with BF @ 285/1.
That seems a massive price for those two horses with just a switch of target?

I agree Brital. Worth 0.25 points EW in case this weekend makes CP look worst than DDS?

I think it is extremely unlikely, but at 285/1 I can see why you'd have a go!

Backed Neons Wolf (Neptune 4/1) and Wholestone (6/1) e/w singles and e/w double today, 4/1 place double appeals....

Hobbs was a guest on last night's On The Line. Despite rubbish from Chapman about going for the Champion Hurdle, you got the impression that the trainer would be very, very surprised if the horse was re-routed from the Triumph. At no stage have I ever heard him suggest he was going anywhere but the Triumph.

Yeah only the ground (soft on the Tuesday) will change plans for DDS in my eyes and even then I imagine it'll be a decision made by JP rather than Hobbs. He's never one to hype up a horse too much but he sounded quietly confident about his Triumph chances.

:encouragement: All correct.

If CP is better than, but not anywhere near as impressive as DDS was in beating Evening Hush, could that bring about a dramatic change? I appreciate Hobbs might not know, but JP (Frank Berry) could make a switch?

Stranger things will happen than that... I wouldn't knock a very speculative smalls stakes bet, especially as it'll help with sleep over the next 3 weeks :)

That's good news guys, cos I definitely want DDS in the Triumph.
Will also back him on the day, taking advantage of the first race offers from the bookies.

Just realised I gave an antepost acca to a racing fan in the office I had in secret santa.

It had annie power, faugheen and thistlecrack on it.

It was clearly cursed.

The last horse on it? Douvan

Great solution to the what to spend a £5 on conundrum. Pity about the horses.

Day one Mullins/Ruby fever still on now after that Limini performance?

NRNB Mullins Yankee anyone??

Cantlow, Unowhatimeanharry, On The Fringe, Death Duty at 9/2, 5/2, 9/2 and 5/2. Placed last year £3 Yankee to win a bit than£2,500 is my best hope of a good pay out.
