2017 Champion Hurdle

Countdown to him reversing and supplementing in 3....2....

Haha I had thoughts of this after I posted, and in that article he does say "at the moment" which is a slight worry!

All aboard Nichols Canyon - 25s still there! :highly_amused:

I've got Brain Power in a double with Native River at good odds EW from a while back , yet you don't here BP touted much or even read it here. reckon it has a decent shout what with Mullins horses dropping and Yorkhill unlikely to be supped. I've had good odds on Jedzki as well NRNB. Also got PM to win. Reckon BP is as good as the old guard in TNW, NC . I like Superb Story as well but haven't gone there..... yet.

This is the hardest race for me to pick a horse in. You have BP, PM and Yanworth as the main players and if i had a gun to my head right now to pick i would probably side with Brain Power, vastly improved race by race from last year as pointed out early.

David Pipe is at the bingo now too with Moon Racer. Don't like the bit in bold ..Garrison Savannah could be right on the other thread.

"Touch wood, he's in good form and we can get him there in good form - whether that's in the Supreme or the Champion, a decision will be made a lot closer to the time," he told Sportinglife.com.
Sky Bet are betting non-runner no bet on all Festival races and offer 5/1 for the Cheltenham curtain raiser and 20/1 for the Champion Hurdle.
Pipe admitted that he was finding it hard to go anywhere without being offered an opinion as to which race was the more appropriate target for the 2015 Champion Bumper winner, who while having very obvious talent, also clearly lacks the experience ideal for one bidding for championship honours.
"If he was your horse, you wouldn't make a decision until closer to the time," Pipe said. "It's slightly different now because you can supplement horses for the Champion Hurdle so that can change the picture. If he's well and in good form, he'll be left in both races and we will see.
"He's in good form. The handicapper has put him up 7lb for standing in his box at the weekend, which I understand as his form keeps getting franked everywhere.
"Everyone said it was a slow-run race when he won at Cheltenham in November, which it was. It didn't favour the beaten horses, that's probably right, but it didn't favour the winner either. He wants a true-run race.
"We got two runs into him early on this season. We gave him a mid-season break and it just took a bit longer to get him going again. But he's well, he's on track and I want to try and keep him on track."

Been trying to think of a horse that went chasing and subsequently came back to win the Champion Hurdle and cant think of any ?

Big Bucks, Solwit and probably more in the stayers but none over shorter ?

I saw a stat the other day where a horse switching to/from timber/fences at Chelt (from their previous run) was something like 0-132....

That may be why Willie decided against running Yorkhill in this race then, I'm sure he leaves no stone unturned including filtering through all the records, stats, trends etc....

Any update on Wicklow Brave since this ( early Jan)...

Connections of Wicklow Brave have not ruled out sending Willie Mullins' dual-purpose performer back over hurdles.
The 2015 County Hurdle winner provided Mullins with a first Classic success on the Flat when winning the Irish St Leger at the Curragh in September.

However, he disappointed when a leading contender for the Melbourne Cup and could now even head back to the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Owner Nick Peacock said: "He is absolutely fine and I'm not sure what we're going to do with him yet.

"It's a possibility he may turn up at Cheltenham. If he doesn't go there I suppose we could look at the Yorkshire Cup or something like that.

"I think he's been entered for the race in Dubai (Gold Cup), but I'm not sure about that.

"The ground is very fast at Meydan and I think Wicklow prefers a bit of cut."

I was wondering about Limini for this, bolted up last year before disappointing in the last two festivals. If he puts in a good round on Saturday....well stranger things have happened. Just took a bit of the 75s on Betfair to a fiver, worth the risk for me. Just noticed as well PP have put him in at 14s

I took the 25s NRNB when the decs for the Red Mills came out. She wouldn't have a chance on last years form for me but she'll either shorten dramatically or won't run and I will lay her at shorter odds if she makes the final Champion Hurdle declarations.

Ive also been trying to find quotes on WB Mayo, but nothing.

I am wondering if he is back in training after a long season travelling. He is still entered which must mean something.

Wicklow Brave is in the stayers and champion hurdle confirmations. Bit of a wild card ...

No entered ...sticking to her own ?

I think the race against AJ was always the plan in fairness. Give them a good sighter at AJ to see if they can release VVM to have a go at this?

Spot on. This race will clear up the picture a bit. If she runs apple jade very closely on her seasonal comeback then it may free VVM up for elsewhere. If shes beat well VVM will go mares.

Never going to be a track that suited Yanworth but another underwhelming win from Yanworth.

Surely a decent win by Jezki in 10 minutes would push him into the stayers?
