?600k someone said on Twitter - he'd need to win a few premier grade 1s and/or a grand national to get that back.

Lynch also tweeted it's AB or Aintree for him.

Do you know who does the buying for Paul Byrnes?

Have I missed the piece of form that puts Corbett's Cross favourite for this race?!

What has he beat? Found A Fifty?

Genuine question, am I missing something in the form? FAF beat Parmenion easily, who isn't good enough to be on Willie's boat.... and FAF ain't on the boat either.

Looks like an awful fav right now IMO at 7/2

I think he’s the second coming. Loved the horse since earlier in the season. I’m also a big fan of FAF who is my dark horse for next years 2mile novice chases. So I’m a firm believer in the form and think he’s a credible fav. Beat Seabank Bistro cosily earlier in the season too albeit giving him 5lb that day.

He’s also shown versatility. The class and speed of recent winners when winning over 2m and grinding it out over 3m carrying top weight in a handicap as per the old Bartlett type.

I think he’s a worthy fav and that his price, if a little skinny is fine.

But … the main reason he’s that price is because Ruby tipped him up at 25/1 following his handicap win over Christmas.

He’s propping up the rest of the market nicely too given that he might not even run.

The race is a graveyard for favourites so happy to not fancy the fav

If I was being harsh, I'd say you haven't actually answered my question ... which was what piece of form puts him favourite for this race.

You'e said you rate Found A Fifty and is a dark horse for next year, and he's beaten Seabank Bistro.

To me, those two are not at the top of Gordon or Willie's pecking order.

Then it jsut goes on to being able to beat inferior horses at various trips. Obviously nto a negative, not slating the horse at all in terms of how good he might be, but favourite for the Albert Bartlett?

I don't understand what you mean by "firm believer in the form" ... that's what I'm asking, what form?

Totaaly open to it being presented and me backing him..... I have made no secret I've fucked the race up as a book builder.
If I was starting from scratch now I'd have Three Card Brag ... and I can see why you'd get lured into Hiddenlake Valley, Monty and Search For Glory .....

I just don't get the Corbett's Cross angle. Being purchased by JP seems to be a factor.... which isn't form.

Good to see that more people are beginning to realize that Shanbally Kid wins this: I suspect that JP knew Gigginstown would not sell!:peaceful:

….no idea why I cashed in my 50-1 bet :hurt: I must lay off the rum.

Yes, that’s fair enough; I wouldn’t argue that his form alone entitles him to be the price he is and whilst I say his price is ok IMO, I do also say he is on the skinny side. I wouldn’t be imploring you back him at current prices.

He’s not beaten other horses at the very head of the market, so on that basis alone, I’d have no contention to your statement.

But I do think Found A Fifty is one of Gordon’s better horses. He implied it himself at the start of the season (I think it was Gavin Lynches video interview). He fluffed his lines in a bumper, but has since excelled over hurdles. I’d say his messy start to the season and delayed hurdles campaign is why he’s not on the boat. His hurdles debut was after entries even.

In FAF’s maiden, he had Parmenion and Tag Man easily in behind, although both of those may have been running over too short a trip. Parmenion easily won a poor maiden hurdle NTO, and Tag Man ran well over Xmas finishing second to Good Land, and ahead of Search for Glory and Embassy Gardens.

When I say I’m a firm believer in the form, that relies on me thinking FAF and SB are good horses. But there is little evidence to confirm at this point. A better statement would’ve been to say that I think the form of the Naas 2m novice hurdle will work out well. I absolutely accept that you can’t hold it up as confirmed form at this point.

It probably is worth noting that Corbetts Cross does boast the highest OR and RPR in the race. I’m not suggesting you rely on other’s assessments but it is a factor to consider.

I doubt we’ll find out how CC measures up to this years 3 milers anyway as connections sounded rather cool to the idea of Cheltenham.

But at todays prices, I do agree with your starting point for the race. 17/2 about Three Card Brag is a super ew play.

So to answer your question rather than the question I preferred to answer :excitement: No, CC’s form alone probably doesn’t entitle him to be fav.

Corbett's Cross is around 15/2 on exchange now.
His form his hard to assess because he's come from handicaps, but it's difficult to name a horse with better form,

I think the AB is ridiculously deep this year and when I look through the list of potential runners, you could make a case for plenty. That’s not to say it will be a vintage renewal, but it is very open and it’s still a real head scratcher this close to the big day. I’ll probably land on Hiddenvalley Lake still but not with a huge amount of confidence.

With Corbett's Cross is it not more a case of around a month ago Ruby saying that he liked the horse, and cue the immediate deluge ?
I'm with Kevloaf here, nothing obvious I've seen that makes him favourite.
I've thought that Favori de Champdou has progressed from each run this year having kept some good company, I'm amazed 10/1 is still generally available for him.
It's been a while since I checked the form back but I think he achieved the highest RPR of any of these too...

He seems immature to me and I’d be concerned about whether he is streetwise enough for this. It’s not just that he has only had 2 runs but how he has conducted himself in those runs. Kind of like he’s not really sure what he’s meant to be doing. His win was against a similarly green and inexperienced horse. I think he has the ability but he needs to have learnt an awful lot from his last run imo. At the prices you simply have to cover him no doubt and I have and I see him as one of the best long term prospects in the race I’m just not sure he’ll be mentally ready just yet.
