2023 Bumper

Ai someone said there will be five better at home.. Chapeau de Pig... BDA won well but might not have beaten much etc...

What a load of bollocks

A certain Ferny Hollow was keen and couldn’t win a few bumpers prior to the festival so nobody in the right mind can rule out Chap.

No, but would you back him for it now ?

Fair enough.

Bit of a stretch after one run, but Twitter knows everything :hopelessness::highly_amused:

Twitter fools. Just ignore them would be my advice and wait for official information.. 9/10 times the info is very, very wide of the mark and just guess work like you and I. Complete tosh.

Watched the Bumper back and no doubt at all that BDA was way superior today. Won with a ton in hand. Codd piece rode him from the start like he was the winner. Very confident. CPS very green but no way does he turn the tables.

Race was a full minute slower than standard

Don't think it's possible to judge the relative standard of horses in such a slowly run race

I'm becoming more and more convinced bumpers are a complete waste of time

A significant percentage of them are run at a farcically slow pace

He won in a sprint, race fit, against a rival that didn't know what to do when asked. Absolutely too premature to be saying there is 'no way' the horse won't turn the tables, we're talking about 4yos jesus. :boxing:

Plus come the festival if a bigger field and stronger pace CDS should get more cover you would hope.

Unfortunately yesterday I was trying to watch the race on my phone whilst sat round the pool in the blazing sunshine (will stop rubbing it in now) and some old chap started talking to me and wouldn't leave me alone so didn't really get to watch the race properly.

I was gonna cash my bet out on CDS but thought I best watch it back this morning before I do and I'm glad I did. I didn't even realise CDS finished 2nd until now, but the head carriage alot of the way round will have had a big effect on him and ability to breath soundly, can see once he's right he flies home. Get him to settle and I can see him improving past BDA no problem. Hopefully BDA is a real good sort and them two both end up good enough to be in the bumper in March.

Feel like both horses will benefit from a better pace and bigger field. Not sure why CDS is being singled out for that. Both were keen early on, CDS led so got no cover but BDA raced wide most of the way and also got no cover.

I'm hopeful they're both really good.

Agree. BDA was in cruise control also at the end and bolted up. Codd was looking behind and eased him right down once the race was won. He had plenty left. I've got both in the book but if I had to pick one it would be BDA.

Given Gordons early season form I'm inclined to mark up the bumper debut performances of both King Of Kingsfields and even Halka Du Tabert.

Both won, despite the stable not exactly being on fire, something plenty of his couldn't do at the time.

Do mares get an allowance in the bumper? Just looking over Queens Gamble and would mark up if she gets one
