this week's entries

Yep, good shout Benjy. DH with Pied Piper ties into form with Vauban.

I don't think New Year Honours would be good enough based on the flat form?

Foxfire Glow is JP I think. They think a lot of him apparently. The 2nd to Kyrov is good form.

Kyrov form has flattened out a bit in his last two runs so he’ll need to bounce back. He’s entered on Friday against the best 4yo in France (Hawaii Du Berlais) so that will be a chance to see how he stacks up again. Interestingly there is a potential form line to Irish Point in the same race. Il Est Francais makes his third start over hurdles (up in grade) and he finished second behind Irish Point in his grade one bumper win.

Very interesting spot JM, certainly a race worth watching so.

Kyrov did beat Hawai Du Berlais earlier on when they met. Obviously since then things have swung round a fair bit and Kyrovs form does seem to have tailed off since. It would appear they wanted to strike early with Kyrov, so maybe the Foxfire Glow form isn't all that bad, given how revved up he was for it early on.

I imagine Hawai Du Berlais will uphold the more recent form with Kyrov.

I don't think the further trip suits Kyrov and explains some of it. It's just unfortunate that France doesn't really accommodate 2 milers and they would be unlikely to sell him to race over here.

I'd expect Hawai Du Berlais to confirm form again.

Regarding Irish Point - have their been any other successful horses from grade 1 APQS bumpers in the UK? The bumper is over 1m4 so not directly comparable to our bumpers over the longer distance. I suppose for a Supreme horse, winning over that distance is a positive.

Once Elliot pulls Fil d'Or from that WKD hurdle on Friday it's going to be a horrendous race like. Pied Piper be about 20s on!

Still hoping the 2 mile open hurdling division is exciting this season for the firs time in a while.

HRI showing as 4 still in atm with an hour to go. 2 Elliott and 2 Ryan horses.

All are currently declared ... interesting in respect of Fil Dor's chasing prospects.

To be fair to them it's difficult to know what to do with him isn't it, as a 5 year old.

Maybe confirming he's still behind Pied Piper as a hurdler will see them try something different. Not much point in him being a 2 mile hurdler in that case is there, for the same connections.

Stayers? Not that 5 year olds ever win that! :welcoming:

Or revert to chasing straight after?

Easy prize money for Fil Dor to pick up early doors. Think people are trying to read too much into it.

I think it's more because Gordon openly said they would try to make use of the 4-yo allowance in chases this year. I do completely understand this angle though, no reason why the two Caldwell horses won't be the first two home.

And a pipe opener for going chasing :encouragement:

I wouldnt touch King of Kingsfield or Steller Story for the bumper being both owned by Gigg but i have backed Steller for the AB and anyrace in the hope he did go hurdling being 6 in the NY.
