2017 Stayers Hurdle

I struggle to only find 1 with a chance and if I had backed a horse that went off bigger than SP, I wouldn't want to miss 'the winner' because I'd already 'lost' a bet...

Now looks like I was wrong on both accounts regarding Apples Jade's target so I'll have to learn from that!!! Didn't think Gigginstown would mess around with the mares race, but it being a Grade 1 now it must have changed peoples minds?!

Very true. I'm definitely more open now to covering a few horses in a race going forward.

I've seen a few mentions about giving up chasing with More of That and going back down this route. I think the horse is a no bet for anything right now. Looks to have fallen out of love with the game and finds very little if anything at the business end of races. To me it seems like he's gone through the pain barrier too many times now. Add in his multiple wind issues and he's a shadow of the horse who was able to give Annie Power 7lbs and a beating!!

Jonjo 'bemused' is the headline... certainly not positive vibes. Not mad keen on Jonjo to be honest.. always seems to be out of form.

Can't say i'm a fan either. Just feel like there's way too much 'in the know' with that yard.

Yeah, him and Jim Culloty making a living off a past life :devilish:

I took the 38s on offer for VVM on the exchanges for this just in case. Shes best priced 10s on the sports book. Will be keeping this mare onside wherever she ends up

Can't knock that thinking at all KingSprinterSacre. Wouldn't take a lot for her to be the standout fav for this race would it!

She would have run in the World Hurdle if Faugheen wouldn't have been injured, because Annie was likely to go for the Mares race and I think they'd have given her a shot... stays well enough...

Before today's race I was considering backing lil rockafella for the WH as I quite fancy this horse.. Obviously already holding a nice voucher for yanworth I couldn't of asked for a better result today.. LRF was race fit and yanworth got to him In the end.. Give me odds that them 2 or 1st and 2nd come March..

Long Walk Hurdle is the target isn't ot for Yanworth. Great to have an actual 'confirmed' target... certainly a horse with the potential to improve for a step up. Needed every yard to get past LRF and LRF is surely better further too?

I'd give you 1000/1 max bet 10p :highly_amused:

Just look at the horses LRF has had behind him this year and his form is worthy of a WH bet in its own right. But I think if today race was over 3m yanworth would of won by a lot further which to me just proves how good he is. With rich ricci saying Annie worked awful in the week and faugheen has a bruised foot, it's not a given that one of them turns up anyway

I wouldn't worry about poor workouts at this time of year, I heard all sorts of stories about Mullins horses working poorly in the week before Cheltenham who went on to win.
They're like us, get up feeling stiff/old/grumpy and just don't fancy it, feel different a few days later....

Yanworth

Geraghty said: "I was never sure I was going to get past until I flew the last and he battled well from there.*
"He is very comfortable at that trip, but I just feel he would be more comfortable at a staying trip.*He needs to improve a lot for it on form to be with the best."
King said: "It is a huge relief. He has not been on the grass and one or two of our proper jump horses in the last week or two have just been found out.
"He has done a lot of work but there is a fair bit of improvement to come.*Just talking to AP (McCoy) and Barry he might well go up (in trip) and we could look at the Long Walk.
"That was five minutes of hell. I thought he was held between the last two, but he has dug in.
"He has not had much practice, as in his first four races over hurdles he had not come off the bridle. Physically he will come on for that."

Nicols Canyon

“Jer’s Girl decided to take him on early and he’s just outstayed her. He jumps fantastically which is why he’s always competitive at two miles but he’s got lots of stamina so I would imagine he will step up in trip,” said the trainer who added he hopes the setbacks to Faugheen and Annie Power are “minor”.
*A step up in trip could also be in line for the runner-up whose jockeys Barry Geraghty reported: “She just got tired but has run a nice race.”

IvanG came home like a three miler in the fog yesterday :devilish:

I really can't see Yanworth going for this now if JP already has UknowwhatImeanharry & Jezki entered and no real contender in what's looking like a weak Champion Hurdle

Not a sexy type but keeps improving and has the AB form in the bank... I'd want a bigger price, (and luckily I have one - along with the other 700 I have backed) :highly_amused:

What did UKWIMH beat?

A little harsh?

He's beaten the "unbeaten but for a fall" Ballyoptic, Ubak (who won a decent race at Aintree), Menorah (who has an amount of class) and Reve De Sivola...

Which horses would you have fancied to beat that field by 6l? (Thistlecrack aside)? ... that are in the World Hurdle betting?

2 things to consider here:

1.) Jezki has not seen the track since April 2015 so who know what ability he still retains. His only try over 3 miles he beat an 11 year old Hurricane Fly and a bunch of other horses he should have on ratings.

2.) JP McManus usually runs his horses in the right races regardless of having another runner or even 2 in the race. He has fired 3 bullets in the Champion Hurdle and also 2 in the World Hurdle in recent years.

I must admit I think this is bad news for jezki fans.. If yanworth steps up in trip on his next start I think that says it all.. JP may have a few big priced outsiders for the CH in MTOY and Ivan gorbatov but they are at different stages in there career.. I think jezki may slip in to the CH to at least give JP a little hope with a horse who has a little class

Kevloaf, Faugheen, Annie's, Vroum Vroum, Jezki, Shaneshill? Don't get me wrong you can't fault the performance but I just felt other than Ballyoptic and Snow Falcon, there wasn't really any depth in the race
