Punchestown 2016 Thread

Yorkhill should have been put away after Aintree ran a shocker which was nothing to do will Ruby.Didnt take his usual pull and was never travelling. Near finished in reverse it was that tired. Goes to show how difficult it is to do the big three festivals in such a short period of time. The greatest horse ive ever seen - Sprinter Sacre won at all three and it nearly finished him. Took 2 years to come back to himself. Very very few horses win at all 3 festivals. I suspect Douvan will do it but he is so much better than the other novices he hasnt had a difficult race yet. It will be much more difficult to do it next year in open company.

Vautour - I'm delighted he was beat (i'm sorry for anyone who done their money i dont mean i am delighted you lost). Mullins has messed this horse about this season. Running over 3m, 2.5m and 2miles. Maintaining all season until a week before chelt he was a 3miler then changing the week of the race. Then saying again he was going to 3miles at Punchestown and then changing minds again to drop a full mile to 2miles. The main reason i am delighted is the knock on effect. Had he won easily we would have had the full will he wont he go for the champion chase next year. Now it should be another go at the king george. If he was campaigned as a 2miler they would have messed about with Douvan trip. Douvan is a monster over 2miles. Leave him where he is. Douvan v Sprinter Sacre in the champion chase next year please (yes i know Sprinter is aging but wasnt it great to see him back).
P.s what a run by Simonsig, such a shame the best years of his career have been stolen by injuries. He could have been an all time great. Used to work with Sprinter and apparently their work was frightening, with Simonsig coming out on top.

My selections today mixed between lucky 15s and some singles. If its anything like yesterday these will be stuffed.

I hope MTOY wins that now. He is doing all three and had a hard race at Aintree but not having run beforehand he might still outclass these.

Colms Dream interesting nap KSS - whats the story ?

Have to have a NAP in one of the races and they are all difficult lol. Nah, seen a bit of word for him floating around a few places and besides that in very very good form. Has got a hike in the weights but im hoping he hasnt done improving.

Can anyone work out why Burgas was pulled out of the Sandown race to run in the 6.05 tomorrow? BC was jocked up beforehand and then of course he went on to saddle and win on the second string.

Plot or not?

One betfor me tomorrow but a fairly lumpy one.
Quantativeeasing e/w in the cross country, I can only get the 4s e/w tonight but there is some 9/2 out there.
Has a nice weight pull from the fav who trades at around 4/6, no question Josies Orders has the potential to improve again but QE is a talented horse who would have won the 2015 Chelt XC had it not been for a lunatic French pilot, he also only went down by a neck to Uncle Junior in last years renewal with the pair pulling miles clear of the field on ground similar to what they'll encounter tomorrow, Josies Orders unseated in that race but made amends by winning a minor event on a later card.
These are the leading two for me but I'd have them priced much closer together, I'm struggling to find 2 others to finish ahead on QE to push mine out of the places, bet to nothing....

Good points there Ista. I got a feeling he will go out a point or so, so may wait until tomorrow to back him.

Rock The World @ 4/1 16.15

Fairly Legal @ 14/1 18:05
First Figaro @ 3/1 19.45

Been browsing rather that playing but looks like you are doing alright lads. Nothing wrong with places at prices. Not sure where I read it but "you have to allow yourself the chance to win big" was something I took on board from one of those professional gamblers books. They werent talking about lumping on a 4/6 shot either !
